7 year old and bone spurs???

My daughter has been having heel pain for awhile and I'm wondering if at that age they can get bone spurs? My Mom and FIL say that's for older people. Thing is I bought her some gel cushions for her tennis shoes and so far they have helped. But when she's kicking it around the house without her shoes for awhile like for the weekend the pain comes back. I've noticed the harder the surface (shower) the worse the pain gets. I'm just wondering if anyone's had this and if so what was the outcome. TIA

Take her to a podiatrist. It sounds like plantar fascitis.

I can't speak for age 7 having bone spurs because that seems awfully young, but my DD18 played soccer for 10 years and several of her soccer teammates had bone spurs as teenagers due to the repetitive nature of the sport.

I think you need to go to a podiatrist or other medical professional to check it out. Poor kid.

agreeing with Tina - take her to a podiatrist. a good friends 9YO son had heal pain and it turned out to be plantar fascitis or something similar. (ok - not a doc here, but what she explained to me was the tendon or muscle that connects the heel to the arch of the foot was not recovering the way it should from daily use. when he would get up from a resting position, it would be very difficult for him to put pressure on his feet. they gave her some simple stretches to do daily and some shoe inserts. didn't have to keep up on the shoe inserts and daily streches has taken care of the problem. his issue was also compounded by his weight, but that is not always a factor.)
