This is my DDad's favorite restaurant. Of course his last name is Hummel so why wouldn't it be. Of course the rest of us like it too.
The atmosphere makes you feel as though you are in a real German village during Oktoberfest. There is a stage in the front with a fenced in dance area. The stage has an oompa band that appears at regular intervals. Of course they play polkas and other traditional oompa music. They also have a German cheer that they do at the end. And I'm proud to say, I was one of the loudest two voices in the room (of course I embarrassed my kids

but that's half the fun). My DMom even got up and went down to do the chicken dance--again embarrassing the kids
Now for the food. You get soft drinks with your meal here, but DH, DDad and DMom decided they wanted beer. DDad went with his favorite Ale (sorry I don't know what it is exactly), while DH and DMom had the tour of Germany. It is four six once beers of a variety of flavors. They had a dark stout, a light ale, and two that looked like regular beer. They said all were good. The food buffet starts with a buffet of salads and cold meats. I liked the pasta salad, while DDad liked the German Potato Salad. The others didn't really have a favorite. Then you move to the warm foods. They have wienerschnitzel, sausage and sauerkraut, chicken, pork, potatoes and spaetzle. Spaetzle reminds me of couscous with more flavor. It is especially good with the pork gravy on it. All of us enjoyed the wienerschnitzel (breaded pork chops), pork and chicken. The potatoes were good and DMom and DDad said the sausage and sauerkraut was good as well. The deserts were very good. DS's favorite was the Black Forest cake. Upon taking his first bite, he got a look of pure delight on his face. Both DD's found the Bavarian Cheesecake to their liking. It is light and airy and a good ending to a filling meal. I thought all were good, and DMom was glad to see fresh fruit available.
I'm sure we will return here again. This is good food in a fun place to eat. Smaller groups (less than 7) maybe seated with another party.
