7-night cruises on the Fantasy resuming 10/9/21

Our room was moved as well with the reason that the room was out of service. I didn’t like their choice, and was able to move again to one I liked as well as my original pick.

TA called and they really didn't know but thought it might be maintenance.......but 3 were on one floor. One not by them and one on a different floor

Oct. 9 sailing.....does anyone have an idea when the Nassau port excursions might be added?
My family is driving me crazy with checking every hour!!

Crew are using some normal guest cabins to social distance. You might have reserved cabins that crew is now using.

This is my first leisure cruise (I was in the Navy), but can someone explain to me what's the deal with Nassau? I read a lot of comments about people just staying on the ship and being disappointed about Nassau. I don't get it honestly. I've never been to Nassau, but I believe my kids will enjoy Atlantis more than Castaway Cay. Is this a DCL thing?
We spent a week in Nassau on vacation once (back before Atlantis was built). The beaches there are great and there is some interesting stuff to do. I think a lot of people are just put off by Nassau because they have been there a ton of times.

Just about every cruise line goes to Nassau. It's a very common port of call, especially on those short Bahamas cruises. Other than Atlantis, it's just okay. You can go to the beach, snorkeling, etc. but the place itself is kind of dirty and the port is filled with locals trying to sell you stuff. There are much worse places, but it can get old quickly. I've only been once. It was fine and I won't complain if I go back, but I'm not in a rush to do so.

Atlantis is fantastic. Nassau (at the port) is crowded with lots of vendors trying to sell their goods to the cruisers. LOTS of vendors.
So, it's (in naval terms) running the gauntlet to get where you want to go.
It's not a DCL thing, it's "I've been to Nassau 7 times and nothing is new to see or experience ... except the gauntlet".
Lots of other stuff there besides the port and Atlantis. When were there many years ago Blue Lagoon Island was beautiful, the Junkanoo museum was interesting and there was a very nice botanical gardens.

I think the issue with Nassau is that many people find the port area itself to be very uninteresting, or too full of vendors. I've been 3 times, one of which we went to Atlantis, and the other 2 went around the port area (including doing a carriage ride once, and walking to an old fort once). I didn't have as negative a reaction as other people, and kind of enjoyed those visits, but like many others, if I went again, I might just as soon stay on the ship. There's basically nothing I've seen there that I thought "oh, I'd like to do that again!" Truthfully, this would probably be true for a lot of Caribbean ports if I'd already been 3 times, though. And, from what I've heard (no 1st hand experience here), the beaches around Nassau are not that great compared to many others, so it's not as though you can have as nice of a "beach day" as other places.

Atlantis itself is different - it is basically a nice water park (plus some other stuff, like the small aquarium area) - though honestly we preferred other water parks, overall (and that's a long post on its own). I'd definitely recommend water shoes or something, since the pavement was scorching. If you use your day in Nassau to go to Atlantis, then I'd think of it more as an "Atlantis" port than a "Nassau" port!
