7 month jig is coming up for Thanksgiving....

I'm on the WL for Friday over THanksgiving for BCV studio, and Dec. 1. I'm hoping that after the 7 month jig where everyone shuffles to their real choices that I'll get my dates.

Who else is hoping for the 7 month Thanksgiving jig.

So far I've had 1 day come thru - 2 more to go.... And this was for reservations made at in the 8-10 month window for home resort priority.

I've got the whole week at VWL except for Thanksgiving night in a 1 bedroom. I've been on the waitlist for about a month, but so far nothing has opened up. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I would really love to be at Boardwalk or BC, but I'm not willing to waitlist day by day, so I probably don't have much of a chance of getting it. When I called a few weeks ago, SSR and OKW had availability for the whole week still, so I'll probably book one or the other of those and then maybe waitlist the entire time at the others. I don't have enough current points to try and hold both ressies, so I won't go that route.

I'm on the waitlist for a standard 2 bedroom at AKV Sat and Sun before Thanksgiving. Hoping my waitlist comes through, I don't want to have to move rooms.

We bought into DVC a couple of months ago. Before that we had made res. for Fort Wilderness Cabins for Thanksgiving week. We hope to change to a DVC property at 7mo out. Our home resort is AKV and I understand they are already booked Thanksgiving week, also we want to use up the developer points first. So we wait and hope that at the 7 mo mark we will be able to get a 2BR anywhere!

I have the date marked on my calendar to hopefully switch our T-day week from BWV to VWL. I hear VWL is booked so I'm hoping there are others from VWL that wish to switch to a different resort.

Yikes! I've been calling every day to get my reservations for Thanksgiving week at SSR. Now today I was told that Thanksgiving night is totally booked at every resort! I need a 2-bedroom and now I'm on a waitlist. I really hope that it comes through for me! I will call again tomorrow to see if I can get Friday night.

I am afraid that there is not going to be much rearranging here. Everyone has booked their 11 month just in case reservation to the point that there is no room anywhere for anyone to rearrange. A couple cancellations might start the dominos falling, but I am not sure that is even enough to get most people where they really want to be.

Mary -- With a AKV 1 bedroom that DD#1 is hoping that I can turn into a two bedroom (anywhere).

Well, I got every day I wanted for Thanksgiving week at Vero Beach except Thanksgiving night :-( My back up plan is to leave that morning and have dinner at my in-laws house in Poinciana, but I was hoping to treat them to a beach week without a crowded house for Thanksgiving. We have a 2 BR lock off, since I couldn't get a dedicated 2 BR for the whole time. We're booked Sunday through Thanksgiving, so maybe we'll have Thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday and check out to do something fun Thanksgiving day!

The DW has been talking to WDW this morning.

We had booked a date in Oct but plans changed. So we figured Thanksgiving week would be "easy" since the points are lower thus lower demand. Right? NOT!

We are on a Waiting List for most of Turkey Week at AKV. We have a few days booked but not enough to go to WDW. A couple of weeks ago SSR had plenty of rooms. Not today which is our 7 month window. We could get dates from the Nov 20-25 but that was it.

So we punted to try to get to Beach Club or Boardwalk villas. Punt went wide.

We punted again and tried to go to the Disney Collection but they cost more points for some reason. CBR was 180 points and Yacht Club was 384.

Not sure how this is going to work out. We had enough points to go in Oct and sometime in the spring but we decided to take a family member who will not likely get to see WDW unless we take him. That will cost us an extra room so we only get to go to WDW once instead of twice.

But its worth it. We just need the reservations!!!!

The next vacation time we will have would be June 2009...

Very frustrating. We would be ok except school changed our schedule. You would think planning 7 months in advance would be enough time!

Not in the DVC world! I took my guide's advice to heart and book the majority of trips at 11 months.

Part of it could be the developer points this year, since you could only use them at 7 months.

Our schools come out with the "official" schedule no later than March(usually Feb), after it's been voted on. "Unofficially" you can call the BOE building and get various dates from the secretary. Found out it's no problem "because a lot of people own timeshares and have to make plans a year out."

Just for the record (and not to be a kill joy) we have a 1 bedroom at VWL booked 11/27 - 12/06 so count one room out. Jumped on it at the 11th month and staying put.

I do send pixie dust to everyone trying....be have been in that spot ourselves.

Well, we called every day at 9am and we got a 2BR at SSR from Sat. 9/22 to Wed. 9/26, we could only get a 1BR on Thanksgiving 9/27 and we check out on 9/28. So on Thanksgiving while we are a little cramped we can be Thankful we at least have a DVC room in WDW. We were going to pay cash if we had to but we are so happy we were able to use the developer points instead. I hope everyone else gets a room somewhere also. A little for good luck.

We went on a waitlist last t-giving for VWL (studio) and nothing ever came through, so we bought enough points for an every other year T-giving or Christmas stay at VWL. WL at busy times seems too difficult and stressful.

We are trying to go to HHI for Thanksgiving with my family. We have them at another timeshare right across the marina from HHI DVC, but we have had to waitlist for Wednesday and Thursday of Thanksgiving Week. I have been calling day-by-day right at the 7 month mark. Two years ago, I didn't have any trouble getting the full week even after the 7 month mark. Not this time! Keeping my fingers crossed for the WL.

I called around 11:00 DVC time this morning, and was going to change my VWL over to OKW which still had availability when I called and checked last Sat. Well, now everything was booked for Thanksgiving night in a one bedroom. Since their computer systems were down, I couldn't find out if I could get the room for cash for Thanksgiving night. I'm going to try and call again tomorrow. I didn't want to add the costly point weekend nights because I'm borrowing points and I can't cancel later if Thanksgiving night never comes through. I just wish they could tell you where you are on the waitlist. If I knew I wasn't behind 100 other people, I wouldn't worry about it so much.

I'm beginning to think that we might have to see some cancellations.... This is ridiculous... 10 months out and still no rooms...

I'm going to look into other options - maybe cash?, because I want to get airline soon because of gas prices will probably keep going up.....

That would be me! Our guide told us you need to be able to plan out 11-7 months in advance for DVC to fully work for you. He was honest and said if you get inside 7 months the chances of being dissapointed are high. If you ever exchange you have to ideally start 2yrs to 18 months ahead(depends on the exchange) especially if you want some place popular at a popular time.
