Hello everyone, I recently started my journey as a DVC member and was wondering what availability looks like at 7 months for late Jan to early Feb. I want to make the most of my points across 2 trips in my 2019 UY (with banked points from 2018).

Right now I have a 1-bed at CCV for early November and a studio at CCV for the first week of Feb. I was thinking of switching the 1-bed to SSR or OKW to have some extra points to lengthen the Feb trip but wanted some advice from those more experienced with the ins and outs of booking DVC. Thanks!

Shouldn't be a problem, especially if you want a 1 bedroom at SSR. Generally, late January & early February are among the easier times to book at 7 months.

That said, SWGE seems to be changing everything. My advice is to keep what you have, and when your 7 month window opens, modify the reservation(s) to get what you want. If your preference isn't available, you won't be able to do the modification and you will just keep what you have. In that case, you could also waitlist. I really don't think you will have a problem though. .

For that time of year, 1BRs at SSR and OKW should be open at 7 months out. Also, 1BRs everywhere else have a good chance of being open except for AKV club level and value and BLT standard view, i.e., you may even have a chance for a BWV standard view 1BR which is in the same point cost range as OKW. The caveat is that Star Wars may effect the demand that has usually occurred before during that time.

That's what I was afraid of. To our DVC booking availability wizards, what kind of change are we seeing this Fall/Winter as opposed to the year prior? I'm seeing limited availability at SSR and OKW. I don't remember it being like that in years past.

IMO, SWGE is the reason many are postponing their summer trips to fall and winter. While some are purposely going before SWGE opens to avoid the expected crowds, many more are waiting to go after it opens.

SWGE is increasing the rental demand for this fall & winter (& probably beyond). Fall/Winter have always been popular, but the "early" disappearance of even SSR & OKW studios and 1 bedrooms is new. Since it's so easy for owners to rent points via the brokers, many owners are choosing to rent their points rather than let them expire. Maybe things will be more "normal" next year, after SWGE has been open for awhile.
