7-month Availability is GREAT!

We are new members who were fine to stay where but have been surprised to see wide open availability at 7 months after hearing that it was hard to get other resorts.
Anyone who tells you that it's hard to get other resorts is either booking all their trips during very specific windows of high demand or counting on the cheapest, smallest room category in reach resort. Or both.

It's never been particularly difficult to book most resorts at 7 months.

To your question: Is demand slowing down? Absolutely!

Wait until 2025 (Epic Universe). Disney will be wide open! You’ll be able to book anywhere. On the plus side, crowd levels will be down even further. Universal will make Disney look like a traveling carnival. While Disney is busy reimagining and refurbing, Universal is building new lands. Rather than capitalize off of Disneys biggest animated feature, Frozen, they settled for a hole in the wall Norway pavilion. Meanwhile, Hong Kong and Paris, are doing it right. Massive Arendelle land with stunning architecture and features.

Then there’s word of converting AK Dinoland to Zootopia, which I think is actually a smart move, but still not enough to keep up with Universal. Without a 5th gate, Disney will play second fiddle to Universal.
The opening of epic universe will likely see a rise in DVC occupancy. I think many will use DVC for lodging to go to universal. My family will be.

Yeah, if you have DVC points to use, you will still be staying at a DVC resort on points.

If you have DVC points to burn, these are great options. I've done SSR for a combo WDW/Sea World visit, and it was great for that.

But, if I'm going to Universal and I don't have DVC points to burn, Marriott Cypress Harbour or Grande Vista are both great choices. The drive is easy, especially from Cypress, taking Tukey Lake road parallel to the highway. There can be a bit of a backup at one of the lights, but it is pretty rare.

I think it’s the high point time. When the points drop, so does availability. We are planning may 1-10. First 2 weeks of may are low points- almost all resorts were already gone at 9-10 months. We just tried to book a trip this march for September and every studio was gone. Even SSR. Ended up getting one on a waitlist but it wasn’t easy.
