7 Dwarves Mine Train totally underwhelming

I wasn't impressed by it either. I thought the end with Snow in the cottage was the absolute best part of the ride.

I find myself saying, "I can't believe Snow got evicted from her dark ride and we got THIS!"

My issue, though, could all root in the fact that I found the seats to be uncomfortable.

Thanks to the reviews on the DIS. I went on 7DMT with low expectations .... So I fully enjoy it as a good Disney ride.
(To be fair, the ads on Dismey Channel last summer were incorrectly thrill-based)

My greatest disapointment was hoping the swaying cars would provide additional physical sensations...when they really do the opposite, make the ride more smooth.

It is an extra-fun ride when you have a family of young children near you .. Listening to their delight ;)

I don't think the long lines stem from it being a great ride. I think it stems from Disney fans desire to see some new attractions. Disney has been moving slower than a snails pace in that department lately! If they would pick up the pace and have a new attraction every year you would see lines drop.

I am actually glad to hear that the ride is underwhelming :o and that it slows a bit on the descents because I am a huge scaredy cat when it comes to thrill rides. :sad2:

It's only underwhelming if you were hanging off TDOs every word of PR beforehand, the hype train raises expectations too much!

It's a good family coaster, especially at night.

How is the video quality for the night ride?

A little grainy, but they have lights. It's not broadcast quality by any stretch

I was less than impressed too. Even with a FP it took us about 15-20 min to get on and then it seemed like the ride was over before we had a chance to blink. I get that they were very constrained by space but it seems like such a great idea, poorly executed. I really like the ride mechanism with the rocking carts; it took a simple kiddie coaster and made it enough fun for older kids and adults. But I wish they'd have found it a bigger home or otherwise made it a longer ride somehow.

I will probably like the ride better if the mania for it ever abates and it settles into Barnstormer-level lines and easier FP availability, but as it I doubt I'll ride it again in the foreseeable future. But it is not worth either the midnight scramble for FP or the standby wait times.

I was also less than impressed with 7DMT.

But then again I'm probably not the target audience. I'm retired, hate rollercoaster type rides, and don't want to wait in long lines.

We found the whole package of the 7DMT to excellent. The coaster is just what it was originally intended to be., a family coaster. The theming and auto animatronics are tops and the PP who mentioned seeing it at night is right on point. If there was a negative, it is that it was a bit short. Building it where they did, was a tight space.

AKK

It's the perfect "thrill" ride for little ones.
My 3 yr old son was pretty much exactly 38" (without shoes on) and was able to go on as was his 4 year old cousin. They both enjoyed it thoroughly and was just the right smoothness and speed to have them enjoy it without getting scared or sick. (I actually found the Barnerstormer more rough than SDMT).

For adults? It was fun and smooth and exciting and at my age, it's all the thrill I need for a Disney theme park. My body just can't handle the thrill coasters anymore like it used to when I was much much younger. (I just went on Fury 325 at Carowinds a month ago and it was pretty darn thrilling .. but needed a break afterwards to recover .. whew).

We went at night which made it even more thrilling then it probably normally would.

As for theming? It could use a bit more "story" in it, but I do like how it slows down as it goes through the mine (sort of like how Splash Mountain does).

As for the witch? We totally missed the witch. (I'm glad because my son is scared to death of the Snow White witch).

Personally I like the FP technology used in it. Two photos AND a video sent directly to your MDE? Pretty nifty!

I will pick thunder mountain or space mountain over 7DMT any day! But, I do like the inclusion of stuff from the original Snow White Ride; it's a cute ride, but not worth a 60 minute wait.

Personally I think this is a solid attraction and actually under rated. Riding it at night also makes it a much more enjoyable experience.
As someone who hasn't seen it yet (in person) I'm interested in why you think night time is better? If we end up getting a BOG ADR it might fit in nicely if I can get a FP+ for it.

Agreed that the ride is a bit too short. However, it is one of the smoothest rides at MK. Love BTMR and Space Mountain, however, they both beat you around a bit. My 7 year old absolutely loved it! Also, thought the attraction as a whole was just a lot of fun. Great to see the 7 dwarfs as they have always been.

Looking for a thrill ride, not 7DMT. Looking for a fun coaster that kids will love, it is that!

We (two adults and 1 seven year old thrill seeker) love it! It is at its best at night and we always ride multiple times. Last night we rode with a FP during Wishes which was amazing and then we jumped in line at 10:58 and were one of the last 4 or 5 trains out for the night! So fun, but of course to each his own! Luckily, MK has no shortage of great rides and hopefully there is something for everyone!

I agree that the hype is what really "ruined" the ride. We just expected more out of it with that hype. It is a good ride for what it is. Not a thrill ride. Well themed. BUT, it is WAY too short. Riding it in the dark changes the entire ride and it is much more fun.

I disagree with the OP on Test Track. Liked the original WAY better. But then this is why they change things and at least attempt to have a variety of rides. Different people like different things.

I must confess, I won't be experiencing this ride for another month or two, but I previewed it by watching a YouTube spot. I must say, after watching the video, I am tempted to make a pass on the ride. I would love to say I've done it, but it doesn't appear to have a big appeal to me. I'm sure there is an overwhelming majority of people that love this attraction, but that is just my 2 pennies :) Happy riding folks

I'm going to say that I was pleasantly surprised by SDMT. After I read all the reviews on here about it being so short, I was actually shocked when we rode it and it was not as short as I believed it would be. Everyone in my family enjoyed it tremendously and we have a 4 yr old son and 16 & 17 yr old teen girls who enjoy thrill rides just as much as anyone. I mean look at the faces in this pic!!!

How is the video quality for the night ride?
Unless it's changed in the past year (and it very well may have, but just in case), the silly video uses stock images from day time even if you ride at night. The images are fine, though. I think the ride "videos" are silly in general - they're more like still photos inside of a video.

I think 7DMT is a good ride for what it is, a kids ride that fits adults as well. If you go in looking for a "thrill" ride, even by Disney's very liberal definition of thrill, you will probably be disappointed. It is worth going on as long as the wait isn't too long. Skipping it isn't something "that will ruin a trip" by any means though.
