7 Dwarves Mine Train totally underwhelming

It is geared toward FAMILIES. It is fun, albeit short, but no shorter then RnRC, and has some very nice scenes that are not seen on regular coasters. Please, if you people want heart in your throat thrills, please go to some other place, Six Flags maybe, and leave those of us that still like Disney to enjoy what we like without having to listen to the constant whining.

Given what Disney fully capable of I expected a much better storyline.

If you find reading other posters' opinions tiresome or bothersome, there is an obvious solution......I was under the impression that an exchange of views was kinda the point here.

I don't mind exchanges of views if they are based on reality and not "what they did wrong". Even the idea of calling something a Kiddie Coaster in a place like Fantasyland is beyond ridicules. What should it be... "never come out alive coaster". It is a fun ride with high tech scenes and families can ride it. It's an indoor outdoor dark ride. There is nothing wrong with it other then unrealistic expectations from uninformed people. It is what it was supposed to be, it never was claimed to be an adrenaline pumping attraction otherwise it wouldn't have been where it is.

All we do anymore is label things. Labeling things in a positive defining way is not harmful, labeling in a negative way just because it doesn't appeal to one's individual expectation, is just misleading and incorrect.

Saying one doesn't like something is completely different that trying to paint a picture of disaster and attempting to say that all those people that do like it are just stupid and wasting their time foolishly.

That confuses me - the story is the story - you have the dwarves in the mine, the wicked queen outside the cottage, Snow White inside (scene from the movie) or did you want a sequel? Or did you expect more of the actual story? I think that would be hard to do on a roller coaster-type attraction. It is called Seven Dwarfs Mine train, not Snow White's story ride, and so the dwarves and mine are well represented in the ride itself and in the queue.

I think it fits well within Fantasyland, although it's odd to have a rollercoaster in the middle of a land I like how WDW keeps most of the loud, big rides on the outskirts, so the lands themselves are pretty quiet and immersive. Too much overlapping noise at IOA, although the Universal Studios side was quieter, as most of their attractions are indoors.

Personally I think this is a solid attraction and actually under rated. Riding it at night also makes it a much more enjoyable experience.

I agree with this completely. We got to ride it twice last trip (four times for my son because of rider swap). We ride once during the day and once at night. We enjoyed them both a lot but night time was even better. This attraction gets a lot of criticism. While I wouldn't wait in an hour long line I can't wait to book our fast passes for a couple of rides next trip.

I must have missed the posts where anyone suggested that fans of the ride were stupid. I personally never said these things so hope you weren't implying so.

My opinion is that this attraction could have been so much more and didn't meet the pre-opening hype. It's not a "bad" attraction, just a missed opportunity.

Aww I love 7dmt! I admit at first I was underwhelmed but that's because I expected something else. Now that I know what it is I love it. Maybe it's not a blow you out of the water technical extravaganza but the attention to detail is amazing.

Magic Kingdom will never be an adult park. It's more or less an enhanced kiddy land.

There will never be a super thrill ride, here.

I think the Imagineers do the best they can with the restrictions for this park being for kids, not adults.

Yeah ... I don't see where the story is lacking either. I've always assumed that when you board the train you are heading down to the mine ... then you are inside the mine with the dwarves... then you go home with dwarves and see Snow White and a hint of Snow White's story with the witch peeking in.

I guess I just don't equate Disney parks with big bad over the top thrill rides, so it didn't disappoint me when Mine Train was more low key. There's so much else going on than that - characters, theming, shows, street entertainment, dining, etc.

I don't always need to get off a ride feeling like I need to go see my chiropractor and would usually rather not.

If we want big bad over the top thrill rides, theres more local options or Universal.

The attraction was never advertised as a thrill ride, but as a family attraction and we feel that it hits the mark. Yes, we do use the FP+ as it would be frustrating for us to wait in long lines to experience it but then, isn't that what FP's are for?
Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion, but i confess to tiring of folks who don't bother to find out what an attraction is "supposed" to be, such as this family coaster aimed at the younger crowd, and then bash it for not being an RNR thriller.

I really like this ride, but it is just way too short. We rode it last year for the first time and when we were walking out I told my husband I would not be happy if I wanted 90 minutes for a 2 minute ride. Again,love the ride, hate the length.

Love the ride but find it's too short? You sound like my ex girlfriends!

Seriously though, I agree with you. I just rode it this week for the first time. Good ride, but way too short. I assume in 5 years when it's not new the lines will drop to 45 min or so.

For those doubters just look at little mermaid and (especially) enchanted tails with Belle. Mermaid was 30 minutes when it opened, now it's walk on. Belle was 60-90 minutes regularly, now it's always 20 or less.

Who are those folks you are referring to? I have seen many comments about the ride theming, or length, or less fun than anticipated or "worthy" of waiting in long lines for. What a ride is "supposed to be" can be widely interpreted, even for those of us who bothered to find out what the attraction was all about before riding.

As PP have stated, the Fantasyland aspect of 7DMT makes it very friendly towards younger, smaller guests.

Figment was rehabbed in 1999 and 2002. Not sure what you mean by newish? It was changed over a decade ago. I agree it needs to rethought and redone again, but it should stay as a Figment attraction, for all ages.

Test Track is about the same, with just different scenery. If you close your eyes, it's easy to imagine you are back in the old one. It's still fun, and we mastered the car design for high score this past trip.

We also went to Universal - was disappointed that there was just one ride in the new Harry Potter area, the shops are still overcrowded/tiny/poorly designed, and they did away with the toy shop in Hogmeade. Also disappointed that so many of the storefronts in Diagon Alley are just sets and not real shops. Hogwarts Express was brilliant, Gringotts was a nice, scaled back version of Hogwarts, but the mass=holding areas of the Universal queues are cheap in design.

The shops are small due to Rowling's requirements and that won't likely change. I don't agree with some of your other comments about Universal but to each their own.

I love your point about Test Track. It is exactly the same really now that I think about it.

We haven't been to WDW in a couple of years. We went to Universal last year, and WDW definitely feels like it got left behind in the technology race. I sure hope they turn things around with the new Star Wars and Toy Story lands.

To OP,

I think when anyone does something for the first time, or returns to something they haven't seen in a long time, it feels fresh and new again.
I probably won't make it back to WDW or at least2 to 2.5 years and I can't wait to visit Disney Springs and hopefully somthing else opened from the "new lands".
I also want to stay at one of the resorts I haven't been to like Wilderness Lodge ( although AKL is my FAV).
My grandson and I will be going on 7DM for sure!!!!

I have not gone on it yet, last trip they were still building it. I said the only way id do it is with fastpasses. Managed to score 2 at a decent, 2:30pm time on a saturday (go figure!) and so ill try it, to say i did. But im going with low expectations, which might work out. I mind end up just enjoying it for what it is then

Awwwwww, I love love love it! It's such a great family ride! My daughter was able to go on at 2yrs 8mos. My mom so went on in her 60s (and I've NEVER seen her go on a roller coaster. Ever. Even when I was a kid). I love the mine too, it's a fun little break singing with the dwarves. What can I say? Love it!!

Again, I wasn't looking for a "thrill" necessarily. I was looking to be immersed in the story, and Mine Train doesn't do that. Compared with a perennial favorite like Peter Pan, which isn't remotely a thrill ride but was extremely well thought out from a story point of view. There's a reason that Peter Pan still has 90 minute waits during slow times of years, all these decades after opening. I agree with a PP, Mine Train will be more like Barn Stormer in a few years.

Well, my family absolutely loves it. I understand that I can't really say those of you that call it "underwhelming" or a "complete disappointment" are wrong as those are you opinions, but I truly don't understand where you are coming from. The queue is adorable, with the touch screen gems games, the spinning barrels of gems that if you can get them all spinning at the same time would project a special scene on the ceiling, the musical water piano...these are all great. I also think you really get the feeling of being in the mine where the dwarfs are searching for gems. As far as not being enough story; what? It is the Seven Dwarf Mine Train. You go into and out of the mine where the dwarves are working, counting their gems, and singing Heigh-ho. They are leaving their work, and at the very end you see them dancing in their home. What more of the "story" of the 7 dwarfs do you want? How did Grumpy get his name? Where did Doc go to medical school and why is he working in a mine? What did you honestly expect? We were able to ride it 4 times on our trip; two with FP and two without. We rode twice during the day and twice at night. We rode in the front car once and the middle once, and the back twice. I agree that nighttime in the back is the best. I think the attention to detail, in and out of the mine, through the forest, over the bridge, over the water, etc, is well-done. For all of you saying "it was a HUGE disappointment," what were you expecting?
