7 Dwarves Mine Train totally underwhelming

We did FPs for this ride, and I'm very glad. It was totally underwhelming, just a slight variation on Thunder Mountain. Can't believe this is something they spent all that time on. Or that people wait 80 minutes to go on!

Also went on the new(ish) Figment ride. What another underwhelming ride! What has happened to the Imagineers?

On the plus side, there were few lines for rides. And they sure are in a building frenzy now. And the new Test Track is a big improvement.

We haven't been to WDW in a couple of years. We went to Universal last year, and WDW definitely feels like it got left behind in the technology race. I sure hope they turn things around with the new Star Wars and Toy Story lands.

We'll go again this year sometime to use our annual passes, but after that will take a break for a year or two. It's not that we aren't having fun -- we are -- but I thought the new rides would be a lot more spectacular, especially after being blown away at Universal.

7DMT has huge lines because it is a new ride but also because their is no height restriction, so kids of any age can go on. Our family doesnt go on Big Thunder or Splash Mountain or Space mountain because our kids are too small. But all four of us will be on 7DMT. Same for Toy Story Mania--it's one of the few fun rides at HS that little kids can go on.

7dmt is a kiddie coaster geared toward young kids. Hence it being in new Fantasyland. Idk why people go into it thinking its a big thrill ride.

If you go into it realizing it's made for young kids, you don't set your expectations too high and have fun. Riding it at night and in the back row is fun. I personally think they did a great job with the amount of space they had. I love huge coasters and loops, but I can appreciate what Disney did with 7dmt

While I wouldn't wait in a 90 min. line for SDMT or even do a FP for it, if the line were less than 20 min. I'd do it again. We were lucky to have an early morning ADR at BOG our last trip and were able to get on right before rope drop. My DS is a disabled vet with a bad back so things like SM or RNRC are out for him so it was nice for him to be able to get on at least two roller coasters (BTM was the other and that hurt a bit). I can see the attraction for little ones, it is after all in the part of the park for them.

I agree with you OP.

As for reducing expectations because it's a kiddie ride? Mystic Manor at HK Disneyland is a kiddie ride with no height limit and that ride looks amazing and features technology that is fantastic. And 7DMT does have a height limit...its just really short .

Oh man we loved 7DMT. My middle son was able to ride it twice in a row with our FP because we were doing rider swap and his 5-year-old brother did not want to ride; he said the back is so much more fun then the front ;) It's a kiddie coaster, sure, but it's a beautiful ride and while short in length (although longer then the Barnstormer!) still fun. I would have ridden every day had we been able to. To each their own!

Figment is still kinda lame, ITA, but less boring then before. What are they gonna do though? Figment is iconic, they have to keep him around. My DH actually wishes they reimagine quite a bit of that section of Epcot (Captain EO, really?!). Hopefully in time!

We were also disappointed in 7DMT. Not because of the lack of thrills, it is an all ages ride but an overall feeling of "meh." It didn't take my breath away with the theming, the ride experience and felt too short. The witch is just kind of crammed in at the end as an afterthought as well.

It's a fun little ride that was added last minute to the new Fantasyland when they realized the land would mostly appeal only to girls between 6-11.I knew going in it wasn't going to be anything more than a nicely themed kids/junior coaster so I wasn't dissapointed, I liked it.As far as the Disney/Universal thing there's been 1,001 threads on that and even Disney execs have to agree Universal has been making Disney look really bad over the last 5-10 years.

This was my kid's favorite ride at our last visit! We all loved it. No, it's not a "thrill" ride, but with low height requirements, we weren't expecting it to be.

Being that it is located in New Fantasyland one should expect that 7DMT would be geared towards younger guests and not be expecting a thrill type ride.

I think Disney is going to blow us away with the new Lands they are going to bring online in the coming years!:thumbsup2

I agree, kind of... It was underwhelming, especially the way it slows down on every descent. But I also know that my kiddos would have LOVED the 7DMT when they were preschoolers. They would have felt they were riding a "big" coaster and it would have been their favourite ride in the parks. Slowing down the descent disappointed me, but it would have made them feel very, very safe and happy when they were little. And who am I to criticize Disney for that? The kiddies deserve rides they can enjoy, just as much as I do. If I want a "real" coaster, I have plenty more to choose from.

I don't think Disney dropped the ball or anything on this one, I think they designed it perfectly for a very specific age group. I'll ride it at least once every trip, just to see the theming. For me, it's on the same order as Peter Pan or Winnie the Pooh or the Little Mermaid ride. Something pretty which I can appreciate, which I don't need to ride multiple times in a trip, because I'm not a wee child any more.
