That's a cute picture.

I'm sorry your dinner wasn't good. We ate there last Dec and it was soooo yummy. The characters were fantastic.

Can't wait for the rest of your report...

I've had breakfast at 1900 Park Fare before, I didn't think it was that great. The character interaction was good, the food was all right, but the service was horrible.

Great reviews and pics :thumbsup2 That's to bad about the poor table location. It really can put a damper on things. At least your DD was treated like a princess princess: Can't wait to see more.

Your daughter is beautiful!!! I love your report so far, can't wait for more!!!

Sunday, July 20th - Chef Mickey's breakfast

Woke up bright and early Sunday morning ready to hit the MK. But first...breakfast. Our ADRs were for 7:00 am. That would give us plenty of time to eat and walk over to MK. We were going to be taking the monorail from the Poly to CR. But I didn't realize that the resort monorails don't even start running until 7 am. OOPS!!! :upsidedow

But that's okay, we were not the only ones in the same predicament. We arrived at the CR around 7:20 and there was mad dash for CM check in. LOL. Still, we got to the podium in short order and next thing you know our beeper was going off. Tried to get a pic in front of the plate but Grumpy was having none of it, so we got a shot with 4 of us smiling and Grumpy hiding her head in daddy's neck. :sad2:

We were seated by 7:30 and hit the buffet! There was so much to choose from I didn't know where to begin. Everything looked so yummy, too! I decided on....

100_2838.jpg

Clockwise from top right we've got Chicken & Vegetable lasagna (yummy), Cheese Blintz with Blueberry Sauce (blintz was good, but blueberry sauce was very bland and not sweet enough), Biscuit w/ Sausage Gravy (biscuit was fine, gravy was not to my liking), Hashbrown (AWESOME!) and sausage link (too spicy for me).

Speaking of sausage, throughout all of the resort I found the sausage links were way too spicy for me. Just a matter of personal preference.

I also got a bowl of this manna from heaven....

100_2839.jpg

Basically, it was just a bowl of apple slices, strawberries and raisins in a cinnamon yogurt sauce but it was TO DIE FOR!!! I went back and had a huge second helping. I could have easily eaten this every day for breakfast, but I never did find it again on any of the other breakfast buffets. Oh well....that gives me a good reason to go back to Chef Mickey's!!!

Superstar's contribution to breakfast:

Nothing like a little sugar to get the day going!

Overall, we loved Chef Mickey's. They had a nice variety of food...everyone in the family was happy. The kids gorged themselves on pancakes, bacon and gummy bears. Mr. Picky was even happy. The only complaint I had was the scrambled eggs...they were NASTY runny! I am pretty picky about my eggs NOT being runny, so no way could I eat those.

The best part of CM, however, are the characters. Superstar really got into the napkin twirl!

100_2837.jpg

The characters were great, the service was good, and Superstar received another birthday cupcake and a special placemat. The only glitch in service was with the CM who brought around the photos for us to see. They are hoping you'll spend $20+ on an 8x10 of your family in front of the CM plate. I told her I was going to pass since Grumpy would not cooperate, and she actually was mad at me!!!! Truth be told, it would have to be one HECK of an amazing picture for me to pay that much anyway, but I wasn't about to tell her that.

All in all, we give Chef Mickey's breakfast a hearty :thumbsup2. It's a great way to start your day at the MK. We were finished with breakfast by 8:30 and at the turnstiles waiting for MK to open by 8:45. Perfect! We will definitely be doing this again.

I like Superstar's interpretation of breakfast! :thumbsup2

Looking forward to hearing about Village Haus... did you try Figaro Fries? I know they ain't what they used to be but I still want to try them!

I really want to try Chef Mickey's on my next trip, thanks for the review.

he's gonna need one to beat off your beautiful daughter's suitors!! She has the most gorgeous blue eyes I've ever seen!! Great reviews but now I need to see Grumpy and Bashful!!!

I'm in popcorn::

Sorry your meal at 1900 Park Fare didn't turn out so well :sad2: We've only been there once but it was very good (well above expectations). I agree that they have too many tables in there, a little more space between them would be really nice :rolleyes1

looking forward to the rest of your report :thumbsup2

Sunday, July 20th -- Pinocchio Village Haus lunch

We had a great morning at the MK, and around 12:15 we started getting hungry. We decided to grab some counter service before heading back to the Poly for a swim and rest. Since we were in Fantasyland, we decided to just stop at Pinocchio Village Haus.

This is a quaint restaurant with plenty of seating and nice, cold air conditioning! If you're lucky you will even get a window overlooking the inside of IASW. We had no trouble grabbing a table (MK was really dead that day) and I headed up to order while Mr. Picky saved our spot.

All 3 kids wanted Mac & Cheese. After I finished ordering, however, some kind of demon possessed Bashful and she started demanding the Turkey & Cheese Roll-Up. This kid has NEVER willfully chosen deli meat over mac and cheese so to say I was surprised was an understatement. But we were about to have one of those hot, overtired, overstimulated kid meltdowns if we did not get our Turkey & Cheese Roll-Up, so the CMs were nice enough to change it after the fact. Whew...crisis averted!

Child's Turkey Roll-Up with grapes and applesauce. She had white milk to drink, her other addiction. After all the fuss, she only ate about 2 bites of the sandwich, but at least she polished off her applesauce and milk.

Grumpy and Superstar both had Child's Macaroni and Cheese with applesauce and grapes. Grumpy had a lemonade and Superstar had a Sprite. Both of them cleaned their plates even though I personally thought the mac and cheese N~A~S~T~Y!!! I mean, even boxed Kraft would be preferable to this! But the kids loved it, and I guess that's what counts.

Mr. Picky opted for the Pepperoni Pizza combo with a Dr. Pepper. He said the pizza was actually REALLY good. He had ranch on his salad and was happy.
100_2880.jpg

I knew we were going to be having a big dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern later, so I opted for the Mediterranean Salad with a Diet Coke (what else). As you can see, this was a monstrous salad covered in roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella, olives, grape tomatoes and grilled chicken strips. (I picked off my onions and gave them to DH...I hate raw onion). The greens were fresh and crisp. I had this with the vinaigrette dressing and it was really very good! I was pleasantly surprised.
100_2879.jpg

For dessert we got the Strawberry Cheesecake and Chocolate Cake. I got one bite of chocolate cake before the kids snarfed them down. They decided it wasn't fair that we got dessert and they didn't, lol! The cake was ok, nothing special. DH said the cheesecake tasted kind of artificial.

All in all we really liked this place and would eat there again!

great review so far. your dd is beautiful! sounds like a dream b-day trip!

wow, great reviews!
we'll be dining at your first two restaurants and now i'm eager to try the CM's breakfast lasagne and the new offerings at 1900 (it's been *years* since we had dinner there)...
after seeing that salad, we are definitely hitting PVH for lunch one day!!!
thanks :)

Sunday, July 20th -- Liberty Tree Tavern dinner & the famous Dole Whip!

We spent Sunday afternoon swimming at the Poly, and of course the kids wanted snacks again. Luckily Captain Cook's is right next to the Volcano Pool, so we made a quick trip inside for some cooling refreshments. This time Superstar went for a fudge iced brownie (of which she ate 2 bites, then Mr. Picky polished off), and Bashful went once again for her new favorite, the Itzakadoozie popscicle. I am so bummed I didn't snap a pic of this! Basically, it's a really tall, skinny, popsicle with different fruit flavors swirled together. Grumpy, not to be outdone, got her own Itzakadoozie and also loved it. I decided I HAD to try the famous Dole Whip, and luckily Captain Cook's has a Dole Whip machine, so I indulged in the creamy goodness. It was okay...not as good as I was expecting, though (YET...more on that later). I was surprised, because pineapple is my absolute favorite fruit. Seriously, I probably ate my weight in it at WDW. It's on pretty much every buffet.

But I digress...on to dinner. We had ADRs scheduled for 5:55 pm at Liberty Tree Tavern. We got back to MK around 5:30 and checked in around 5:45. We ended up waiting about 20 minutes for our table, so only 10 minutes past our original ADR time. Not bad, especially considering the place was packed and the waiting area was standing-room-only.

This is an all-you-can-eat family style meal. First out was Declaration Salad and some rolls with honey butter.
100_2886.jpg

100_2887.jpg

Both of these were delicious! I loved the salad dressing, Tavern Strawberry Vinaigrette. It was light and sweet and best of all, they did not drown the salad in it. I hate it when restaurants turn your salad into soup with too much dressing. The rolls were warm and soft and the honey butter was EXCELLENT! I could honestly have made a meal out of the rolls and salad, but there was plenty more to come!

100_2889.jpg

Here we've got gravy on the left, mashed potatoes to the front, and green beans in the back. All were tasty, although there was nothing overly WOW about them. I am the only one who liked the green beans...they were crisp and although I like them that way, the rest of the family likes them nice and mushy. Oh well...more for me!

100_2890.jpg

Here we've got a side of Stouffer's Mac & Cheese, which of course Bashful dug right into! The main platter featured smoked pork loin (which the waiter referred to as ham), turkey and beef with stuffing. The ham was tasty, but it was the mustard sauce it came with that really shined! It was so yummy! The turkey was fine, your standard turkey, but the beef was kind of dry in my opinion. The stuffing was okay, but wasn't overly impressive.

100_2897.jpg

Dessert was warm apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream. I am a HUGE fan of cooked apples in anything so I loved this! In fact, the whole family did.

Characters were Goofy, Minnie, Chip, Dale and Pluto. They were great with the kids! We really liked this dinner. If you are wanting a TS dinner in MK your choices are limited, but luckily this is a great option! However, with the characters leaving in January I wonder if the menu will change as well. I guess that remains to be seen...

Thanks for the great report! I am hooked!
