Wednesday, July 23rd ~ Earl of Sandwich lunch and Beaches & Cream "snack"
After breakfast at Boma I waddled my full self back to the car and we drove back to the Poly to pick up Mr. Picky and Superstar. She had a nice long rest and having a good double dose of Zithromax the night before, was already feeing a lot better. Today was DTD shopping day, and she did not want to miss it. So we headed over there and I made her ride in the stroller so she could rest.
After a full morning of shopping the kids and Mr. Picky were getting really hungry so we decided to try Earl of Sandwich for lunch. I had read great reviews. Unfortunately, I was still so full from Boma I had absolutely NO appetite. I grabbed a Diet Coke from a nearby kiosk with a snack credit, and decided to pick off everyone else's plates.
The place was packed but we found a table on the patio in the shade, and the line inside moved quickly. I noticed they are VERY strict about what you can and cannot have on the dining plan. It's a sandwich/entree, dessert OR side (not both), and drink. And the desserts are limited to a few items.
Naturally, we had to create a problem. None of my kids wanted any of the kids sandwiches, they wanted a bowl of the tomato soup. I was hoping this would work with the dining plan. The manager was standing there when I asked, and he said "no problem"...unfortunately he didn't tell any of the other workers this, so when it came time to pay there was some confusion until the manager could be found. The checkout CM was absolutely NOT going to let me sub the soup for a kids meal, but the manager finally showed up and told her to do it.
The kids all had tomato soup, brownie and a drink.
This soup was AWESOME! It was creamy and thick, and had a great flavor. There was large chunky croutons on top that absorbed the soup yet somehow still remained crispy. All 3 girls gave this a big

It was really too hot for soup but this would make a great meal on a cooler day.
DH had the Original 1762 with a soda and brownie.
I tasted a bite and it was yummy! He really liked it too. It did have horseradish on it, which is not my favorite, but it wasn't overpowering and it really went with the rest of the sandwich.
The real winner here, though, was the brownie. HEAVENLY! They were gooey and moist, with nice chunks of actual chocolate throughout. I make a pretty mean brownie, and even Mr. Picky agreed it beat mine. As you can see from this pic of Grumpy with her brownie, it was quite large too.
All in all, we really enjoyed Earl of Sandwich. I am also interested in trying Wolfgang Puck Express so we may do that next time, but if Earl of Sandwich were our only option, we would still be happy!
Now, those who know me understand that I am an ice cream junkie. A junkie!!! My love of ice cream is second only to my love of Diet Coke. So after seeing the many photos of the No Way Jose here on the DIS, I knew that I had to somehow find a way to get over to Beaches and Cream to try it. And since Beach Club is on the way back from DTD...well, we just made a slight detour.
When we finally reached Beaches and Cream we realized that the whole SAB pool had been emptied due to lightning in the area. So where did everyone go....to Beaches and Cream! It was 2:15 in the afternoon, and it took us about 20 minutes to be seated.
Our waitress was super nice and had no problems that we were just ordering ice cream and water. Mr. Picky, Superstar and I split the No Way Jose.
Yes, it really is as yummy as it looks! Chocolate and vanilla ice cream covered in hot fudge and peanut butter sauce, chocolate and peanut butter chips, and whipped cream. The 3 of us made short work of this. HOWEVER....I know this is probably blasphemy here but we still think the Reese's Pieces Sundae at Friendly's is better. I think because it uses real Reese's Pieces instead of peanut butter chips, and also adds in marshmallow cream.
Grumpy and Bashful split the Mickey Mouse Sundae, which is basically vanilla ice cream with 2 Oreo's for the ears and a couple of chocolate chips for the eyes. Grumpy only wanted an Oreo, so Bashful decided to two-fist the rest of the sundae.
We paid OOP for these treats. Obviously these items are not included as snacks on the
DDP. I think our total before tip was around $15...and worth every penny.
We loved having the opportunity to visit Beach Club. We may even stay there someday. I might just be as big as a house if we do, though, because I am not sure I could stay away from Beaches and Cream...too many delicious ice cream sundaes to try.
Up next...date night treats, Tambu Lounge and Citricos
