7 Days at Disney & the MANY Lessons We Learned Along the Way! My Jan 2010 TR

DAY FIVE: Part 1
Tuesday, January 26th

A whole day at MK!!!!

Today’s plan involved waking up and getting to MK for Rope Drop. At this point in the week I was starting to feel a little under the weather. My nose was stuffy and my head hurt. I was starting with what would end up being the worst sinus infection I’ve ever had. I’m finishing up my second round of antibiotics now and still not fully rid of it. Needless to say, Rope Drop didn’t happen. :sad2: I was moving too slow to motivate my family to get moving. They are fully content to move slow any morning so it was no bother to them.

We arrived at MK a little after Rope Drop and took the train to Toon Town.

First stop was to meet Tink and the Fairies. We waited in line for about a half hour. Not too bad.

Silvermist greeted us and flew us over to meet with her and her fairy friends. I was amazed that Andrew was joining in on this!!!

DSCN4064.jpg

Next up was Tink- she was a very spirited little thing! I got in trouble for not having the autograph books ready. She told the kids that parents always are messing up. She had them laughing a good bit.

DSCN4068.jpg

Then we met Rosetta.
DSCN4073.jpg

As we were leaving Em looked down at her shirt and wanted to know where Fawn and Iridessa were. She was not too happy that some fairies were missing.
The photo pass guy took lots of fairy pics for us- I’ll add them when I get them!

We cheered her up by using some snack credits for these! Talk about a sugar rush! Of course they only ate the icing as usual.
DSCN4075.jpg

Worked off the sugar rush by touring Mickey and Minnie’s houses.

DSCN4078.jpg

Needed something with a faster pace so we headed here…

Still bouncing off the walls and decided to use the last of the sugar rush to take on the Evil Emperor Zurg!

Found this cute little hidden Mickey while waiting in line.

By this point the kids crashed from the sugar overload and we decided it would be a good idea to get some real food in our tummies.

Lunch Break!

Up next… After Lunch Adventures!

DAY FIVE: Part 2
Tuesday, January 26th

After we let our lunches settle we decided to go for a spin on the Tea Cups- probably not the best choice for right after lunch.

DSCN4101.jpg

DSCN4104.jpg

Jason being funny pretending to be sick before the spinning even began.
DSCN4105.jpg

Let the spinning begin!!!

And I’m happy to say that no one got sick on this ride!

It was time for a more relaxed attraction so we headed to Liberty Square for a ride on the Liberty Belle

DSCN4119.jpg

When we were finished we grabbed a spot in Frontierland for the Dream Come True Parade.

This next pic is one of my favorites from this trip. Now I know there are lots of things to do while passing the time and waiting for the parade. We played I spy for a few minutes. This lady next to us chose to paint her toenails. I felt a wee bit guilty snapping a pic but come on, how often do you see someone doing this in MK!!!! :scared1:

We also shook hands with Woody but my camera wasn’t fast enough to catch it. :headache:
DSCN4142.jpg

Again we had great character interaction! Note to self- ALL parades are best viewed in Frontierland/Liberty Square! :thumbsup2

After the parade we wandered over to Tom Sawyer Island. This was Andrew’s favorite place and still talks about it daily- especially the barrel bridge!

DSCN4152.jpg

The sun was setting and our feet were growing tired. We stopped by the Jungle Cruise on the way out.
DSCN4159.jpg

Andrew was given one of those cards to help them know the wait times. He asked Jason what it was and of course Jason saw an opportunity to torture him so he did. He told him that the person they give the card to is the person they feed to the crocodiles. This of course panicked Andrew and he immediately did not want to go any further in line.
DSCN4160.jpg

He tried to pawn the necklace off his little sister. When he was almost at the point of tears, Jason finally let him off the hook and agreed to take the necklace and sacrifice himself. Boys never grow up.
DSCN4161.jpg

Did I mention he’s a great Dad?

After all the shenanigans on the Jungle Cruise, we headed back towards Main Street, watched this…

And then headed back to CBR to relax.

Lessons Learned from Day Five:

  • Blurry pics on the Tea Cups are the best!
  • Cupcakes at Disney are 2/3 icing and 1/3 cake. The sugar rush lasts for hours!
  • As much as Jason wants nothing to do with planning a Disney trip and spends most of his time complaining about the cost, he sure looks like he has a fun time while we are there. He’s not fooling anyone. He likes Disney whether he admits it or not.
  • We need a barrel bridge in our backyard- hours of fun!
  • Those cards are NOT a ticket that means you have been chosen to be a crocodile’s next meal.

I just love your TR and your kids are so adorable! Reading this is making me so excited to go back to CBR. We've stayed there twice before and will be back again in 3 weeks. One of our favorite things to do it go to the beach and watch some fireworks from Epcot.:cloud9:

Great update :goodvibes LOVE that Andrew let you take pictures with the faries! My DS6 is going through the no girl faze....but I was informed that I don't count as a girl :rotfl: My DH husband called me at work today to let me know that my PotoPass CD came in the mail so you should be getting your soon ;)

What a great evening at MK! I just love watching parades/wishes from liberty square.
Sinus infections are no fun! Glad to hear you made it to the park. Looks like both kids were really into the fairies.
Oh my gosh, a woman painting her nails while waiting for the parade!?!?:lmao: That is just too much. I spit out my drink. (luckily, I turned away from the laptop in time)
I'm glad no one got swallowed by an animal in JC! That is something my DH would do too.

What a great update! I need to meet those fairies, they're just so pretty! I mean, DD does. Right...:rolleyes1

DS only eats the frosting too. Then he hands me the soggy disgusting "cake" part to eat. Thanks, kid.

Great pictures on the teacups! They look like they're having so much fun!

I love the parade pictures, I haven't seen this parade yet. You have completely sold me on liberty square/frontier land parade watching!

Really? Painting her toe tails? :scared1: I'm SO glad you took a picture. I needed a good laugh today!

Oh, dads. Threatening their kids with crocodiles. That's how you know they're good dads! When I was on my honeymoon, we saw a dad on TSI just JUMPING his heart out on the barrel bridge, and I was like, now that's the kind of dad I hope DH is! (He is. He's obnoxiously child-like in such situations. DS eats it up!) (Oh, and  about Andrew trying to sacrifice Em to the crocodiles. DS does the same. Nice to know they love their little sisters!)

Loved the update! Patiently waiting for more! popcorn::

Love your report! Your kids are cuties!
Thanks! I tend to think they are cuties but then again I'm a little biased. ;)
I love this picture. [and not just because Jessie happens to be my favorite character!]
great update as always! :goodvibes
They were so excited when Jessie and Woody came over to say *howdy* to them! I'm a Jessie fan too- I tear up every time I see TS2 at the part when they play "When Somebody Loved Me"

3 weeks!!!!! Say hello to my hammock on the Jamaica playground for me. :cloud9:

Glad to hear you don't count as a girl :lmao: Andrew let's me give him a kiss before he gets on the bus everyday and blows me one through the window as it pulls off. I was thinking the other day that it will end at some point and it made me sad. I'll take what I can get for now.
HOORAY your photopass came!!!!!! :woohoo: I guess mine should be arriving any day now then :rolleyes1 Can't wait to get it and get this scrapbook started! Thanks Mel!

Perhaps I should have put a warning before the picture so no laptops are ruined. Jason and I just looked at each other and said *Is she doing what I think she's doing?* :rotfl: Hey maybe she just wanted to look her best for Mickey. :confused3

Nice to hear I'm not the only one that gets the soggy cake part too. Blech!

Yup, my DH is a wonderful Dad. I knew he would be before we had kids (he was always fun around my class of first graders when we were first married) but every so often he surprises me with just how wonderful of a Dad he is. I am blessed. I think I'll keep him. :lovestruc He had just as much on the barrel bridge as the kids. He kept trying to bounce them and ended up with very wet shoes by the time he was finished.

Hope you, I mean DD, gets to meet the fairies soon. ;)

The kisses and hugs all ended for me on the first day of grade 1 :sad2: He wouldn't even let me take his picture :confused3 Well I still have my twins for a couple more years :)

I know I can't wait until I start scrapbooking my Disney stuff too! I am so behind this year...I haven't done much scrapbooking at all :confused3 I must be sick :rotfl:

Great update!

Looks like the kids had a lot of fun with the fairies and on the Tea Cups! :goodvibes

I really must get my boys to Tom Sawyer Island. We just never seem to make it there. :confused3

That lady painting her toenails is hilarious!! :lmao:

First grade! Say it ain't so! :scared1: That's next September for me. :sad2:
I'm terribly behind in my scrapbooking too. I haven't made time for it at all since our trip. I told DH I would love a day home alone to do nothing but scrap. :cloud9: Something tells me a photopass cd will get me motivated though. :rotfl:
Great update and very cute pictures! :)
Thanks for following along! :goodvibes

Never been to Tom Sawyer Island. Shame on you. A mother of 2 boys and never been to Tom Sawyer Island. :sad2: Please put it on your must do list for this next trip. Your boys would be in heaven!!!!!

Hi Kim, great report! (See Shelly, some of the Mayers take a lonnnnnng time to show up, you weren't late at all...)

Love the pics of your kids -- love the looks on their faces, everything is so magic at Disney :tink:The pics of Em with the princesses remind me of when we took my step-granddaughter to dinner at Ariel's (in DCA) when she was 3...she was in awe of Cinderella princess:

I know! :guilty: I'm not sure why we've never been there. I had all intentions to in November, but it just didn't happen. :confused3 Next time for sure! :thumbsup2 (Just remind me before we go. . . :rotfl:)

Great update! I have got to start watching parades from Frontierland!!

I too am one of those moms who has eaten her share of cupcakes without any frosting left!! Ugh.

I've never seen that parade before - Love that Mary Poppins and Bert are in it!!
Painting toenails to pass the time?? That's a new one. I would never have polish in my bag. I don't carry anything extra!

MK day!! I think MK is the park I am most looking forward to because of Lilian. We spent just a little time the one other trip DH and I have been on so I am really looking forward to seeing more of it! :goodvibes: The cupcakes look yummy (and huge!) :) The sheer joy and excitement on their faces on the Tea Cups--priceless!! :lmao: how funny with painting her toenails!! Way to make use of your time. Looks like you snagged great seats in Frontierland. I think that might be where we try to park it for the parades than battling Main Street. Great updates!! popcorn::

Have you started to scrapbook the trip yet? Are you going to share pages if you do?

Ken would totally do the same thing to the girls as Jason did to Andrew! That is too Funny :)

Blurry Videos from the Tea Cuos are even better than pictures! ;)

Fronteirland really is the best place to watch parades! Still can't beat Main St for Wishes though!

Frontierland was a great parade spot!
I carry extra stuff that is a necessity- nail polish is not one of them.
