7 Days at Disney & the MANY Lessons We Learned Along the Way! My Jan 2010 TR

Well I was going to try and post an update but one of my little day care guys is up early. :upsidedow No more naptime DIS fun for me. :sad2:

Hi!! I'm back! Sorry it took me so long to post again. It's just no fun reading TR's at work with no pictures. :sad2: So it takes me a while to finally read them at home. :goodvibes

I'm cuddled up with a cup of tea and I just caught up! I am LOVING all the pics. Andrew and Emily are just so adorable! I love how excited Andrew's face is in his picture with the Jedi training ticket. And Emily at Akershus. :cloud9: So precious!!!

It's pictures like those that make me excited to start having babies and seeing their faces at WDW. :goodvibes

The kids hopped aboard this thingymajig (Kim, you’ll have to fill me in with the correct Star Wars name for it. :scared: ) I called it a pod racer but was told by Andrew that was incorrect. He doesn’t know what it is but he knows it’s NOT a pod racer!

Lessons Learned from DAY THREE:
  • Avoid DHS on a day when they are having Fantasmic! It really IS more crowded on those days!!!!! :headache:
  • Darth Vader is MUCH more intimidating in person and my little Jedi is very brave to have taken him on!
  • One Man’s Dream is still one of my most favorite attractions at Disney. Some may find it boring, like my DH. I find it fascinating and inspirational. Walt was such an amazing man with such a wondrous imagination.
  • Last but not least, I apparently need to brush up on my Star Wars knowledge! :rolleyes1

Sorry I got behind there for a few days! It has been a busy weekend! :)

I know Sea already told you but YES it is a speeder bike! There is a GREAT scene involving ewoks and speeder bikes in The Return of the Jedi!

Girl you MUST watch The Star Wars saga! It is almost a crime that you remain a Star Wars virgin past the age of 30! ;) They are incredible! :goodvibes

Love your Epcot day! :thumbsup2 Glad you finally got to ride Soarin'! It is my #1 fave at Epcot! We rode it three times in one day! :cool1:

We saw those sign EVERYWHERE too! I hope that Epcot is ready to open for the Flower and Garden Festival in a couple weeks! :flower3:

Keep those updates coming! You are doing a SUPER job!!!! :thumbsup2

Sorry we didn't bump into you in Norway. I also found the princesses very rushed here, compared to our other trips. I'll save our stores for my TR. The rain was disappointing, but didn't last long.

Fantasmic is so amazing. It is my favorite night time show, it has a bit of everything, the villans, fireworks, and the pull on your heart stings soft spots.

:wave2: Kim

Caught up on your TR--we went OOT unexpectedly so I got so behind on things. Finally am getting the opportunity to pop back onto DIS. :disrocks:

Yay for JTA! :yay: He looked so cute!! Adorable picture on the speeder bike!! :goodvibes

:( Ariel was not nice to DD--at least she still seemed to be in awe. Was it more something you noticed and not Emily?

Hmm...I need to think about DHS and Fantasmic--I really want to go to the show as we have never seen it. I think DD would really enjoy it. We are planning on doing a Fantasmic dinner package so we should be able to get seats. I think we will end up getting there early to do the rides we want to do, take a break mid day and come back for dinner and the show.

Looking forward to reading more!! popcorn::

Subbing! I love your trip report so far! My kids will be these ages when we take a trip sometime LOL, so I couldn't resist reading.

How brave of your DS to do the Jedi training. My DS is really shy and never would have answered the questions. (he also can not follow directions and would have run around fighting the other kids and screaming...)

Those pictures of your DD and the princesses are so sweet. I keep trying to convince DH that we need to see some princesses, now that we have a DD! (He's not buying it, since she's a baby...)

I love those little license plates on the back of your stroller. Where did you get them? And can I ask what kind of stroller you have? We're thinking about getting a double for Disney. Do you think it's worth it not to have two singles? DD will probably be in the sling a lot this year still, but not all the time, and probably will need a stroller most of the time next year.

Sorry for all the questions! I'm really enjoying your trip report! Can't wait to read more!
Forgot to tell you that I got the license plates over on the Creative DISigns board. I had trouble finding a place to attach them and they came off after a day. They were cute while they lasted though. :goodvibes
Great updates!
My family calls it the big golf ball too:goodvibes
Thanks! Glad to hear my kids aren't the only ones that call it that. I had a feeling we're not the only ones! :goodvibes

How dare your work block DIS pics. Shame on them! :sad2:

A cup of tea sounds nice right about now! Those are the definitely the moments when you love being a mom. When they're not listening to you or puking at 3am in the dark- that's when you don't love it as much. Motherhood has it's moments.

You'd be SO proud of me Kim!!!! Last weekend when Andrew was stuck in the house with pneumonia, Jason stopped and brought home the DVD set of the first 3 movies. I watched the first one so far! Not a bad movie! It took me 31 years but I am proud to say that I am no longer a Star Wars virgin! :lmao:

Emily didn't notice how quick Ariel was- just me, thankfully.
We booked the Fantasmic dinner package last year and it was pouring donw rain so we didn't get to see it. The show went on but we didn't feel like sitting in the pouring rain with two little ones.

Sorry to leave you all hanging in suspense waiting to hear about the rest of the day. I've been under the weather this week. I'm still battling the sinus infection that I came home from Disney with a month ago. :scared1: I'm on a stronger antibiotic and hoping this kicks it out of my system.

I'll get an update posted this weekend! :goodvibes

Oh gosh! I'm sorry to hear that you're still sick...those stinkin' sinus infections can really take it out of you. Try to get some rest and I'll be hoping that those new antibiotics work!

 I hope you feel better soon! There must be things going around because I am not feeling too hot either. I am so ready for Spring!!! :cloud9:

5 MORE!!!! Geesh! :scared1: As long as Ken (king of the Star Wars household) is proud than I'm doing okay I guess. :lmao:

It's been so long since I've been on here to update, I had to go back and see where I left off.

Here we go! :cool1:

DAY FOUR: Part 2
Monday, January 25th

Once we left Epcot we headed back here
DSCN4022.jpg

For a little mid afternoon relaxing and playing on the playground.
DSCN4030.jpg

The kids took their shoes off and got sand between their toes while digging for buried treasure. pirate: Never found any.
DSCN4029.jpg

I relaxed on the hammock for a little while. :cloud9:
DSCN4024.jpg

Until my sneaks were joined by a pair of bare feet.
DSCN4026.jpg

This is the life I tell ya!
DSCN4028.jpg

We grabbed some dinner at CBR and decided MK would be a nice place to visit this evening.

The crowds were low and we loved it. We went here first.
DSCN4034.jpg

Then got in line for Peter Pan’s Flight. We got all the way up to the front when Em decided she had to go potty. This had been about the millionth time she’d done this on this trip so we were used to it. :upsidedow Ran potty and got back in line again.
DSCN4041.jpg

Headed across and walked onto…
DSCN4035.jpg

Never gets old and will always be one of my favorites! :lovestruc
DSCN4037.jpg

DSCN4038.jpg

Followed by Dumbo where I proceeded to get a nice shot of Dumbo’s BEHIND. :lmao:
DSCN4045.jpg

Then we went to Haunted Mansion yet again.
When we came out we realized why the crowds were so low. Everyone was busy staking out their spots for Spectromagic. I completely forgot it was a Spectro night. At the last minute we grabbed a nice little spot and used a couple snack credits to get some popcorn:: and :drinking1.
DSCN4047.jpg

DSCN4053.jpg

Last Jan we saw Spectro from Main Street and it was horribly crowded. This year was so much more magical! The character interaction was amazing. We shook hands with Peter Pan and quite a few others. The princesses blew kisses at Em and caught her kisses. It was so magical and I was so caught up in enjoying the moment and the look of sheer joy on my kid’s faces that I didn‘t get many pictures. I had tears in my eyes by the time it was finished. The whole evening was just a reminder of why I love Disney so.

We thought about staying for Wishes but were getting tired. We had been up and running since 7am and it was catching up with us. We said goodbye to the castle and headed back to CBR for bed.

Lessons Learned from DAY FOUR:
  • Yes, I know Disney is expensive and far away but the look on my daughter’s face when she met her favorite princesses made it all worthwhile. Pure joy.
  • Soarin’ is my new favorite attraction! So glad I didn’t miss it this time.
  • Always know where the nearest restroom is located. A newly potty trained child will ALWAYS have to visit the bathroom when you get to the front of a line, even if you just went before getting in line.
  • Frontierland is an excellent spot to view parades- much less crowded than Main Street.
  • I need a hammock at home…and the Caribbean themed waterfront view to go along with it. :cloud9:

CBR looks fantastic! Did you love it? I'd read mixed reviews about it being so far with the busses, but since you had your own car I guess you didn't have to deal with that.

Soarin' is my new favorite ride too. Loved it!!!

We caught Spectro in Frontierland and had no problem getting a spot 20 minutes after the parade had started on Main Street! Not crowded at all and we rode BTMR while we were waiting. :thumbsup2

I'm really enjoying your report and was glad to see the update!

Great update, you are really making me miss CBR though! :cloud9: I agree, I need a hammock and a CBR view to go along with it too! :thumbsup2

So glad you got to enjoy Soarin this time, it's one of my favorites! :lovestruc

YAY for MK having low crowds that evening. And how lucky that you got to see Spectro without having to stake out a spot hours in advance! :goodvibes

PS -- Great picture of Dumbo's BEHIND!! :lmao::rotfl:

I would love to find a spot not as crowded to view the parade. I have read Liberty Square is pretty nice for parade watching. You settled in Frontierland? Did you see how Liberty Square looked?

Soarin' is my favorite attraction of all the parks!!

:rotfl2: I think we will have the same with Lilian--always needing to go to the bathroom!! I think I will memorize where all the restrooms are before we leave :thumbsup2:
