$7 a gallon in January??!!!

Er, I believe that the correct term is 'dirty, smelly foreigner' and 'Cranky Lady of the Transportation Board' (also abbreviated as CLOT)

How could I have forgotten dirty smelly foreigner?!?! My most sincere apologies, I'll do my best to remember your correct title from now on! I'd hate to get a beat down one day in HM because I forgot. :lmao:

BTW - are Canadians dirty smelly foreigners too? Or are we just dirty? Or just smelly? Or just "the people you shouldn't really piss off since they are your main suppliers of oil and could make your price of gas increase if they really wanted to" (not that we do, since we kinda like the money you give us for the oil).

See - I can take us back on topic (sort of).

By the way, I thought of you when I was in Philadelphia when a mom at the Reading Terminal Market referred to me as "the cranky lady" to her children.

To clarify! You are a 'dirty smelly foreigner' too apparently as you live in the cold white North, as well as being a CLOT, as confirmed by a perceptive mother. Welcome to the club - it is rather exclusive. Remember, cleanliness does not always extend to foreigners ;)

This post is not intended as an attack on crashbb or any other foreigner but is simply to demonstrate that some of the cranky posters and/or foreigners do have a sense of humour and can laugh at ourselves sometimes! I like my fellow cranky foreigners here

:rolleyes1 Remember, if security is called, I can tell my side of the story in French...

Oh great, you just told them the big secret. Paging Laura Secord, paging Laura Secord!

Are we talking Canada as a whole or Quebec? ;)

I'm still waiting to see who else could be blamed for high gas prices, when the French get blamed PM me, I'm sure it will be amusing!

I heard this too. He wants us to stop driving everywhere. I hope this isn't true.

I voted for John McCain, and I think the rumor is completely ridiculous based on what Obama actually said.

I don't have a source, but I do recall Obama saying something to the effect that low gas prices would be a bad thing in the long run because we would not move towards more efficient and green fuel sources and would do nothing to wean ourselves from foreign oil. He did not say he was going to artifically jack up the price of gas to make Americans upset. He just thinks it would be bad for us to get complacent about oil again.

I think he's right. Most of America is subject to great inertia; if an external force doesn't make us move in a different direction, we just keep going down the same road we've been on. The high gas prices of the past year had finally started to force Americans to wake up from inertia and to start to move towards greener (and more local) technology to get a handle on fuel prices.

As the price of oil comes down, the commercial viability of large up-front capital investment in green technology comes down with it. If an investment firm knows that oil will be priced at $115 a barrel and it believes it can invest in an expensive way to convert cars to natural gas priced at.. I don't know.. $70 a "barrel", then it might be worth the investment because people will move towards the cheaper fuel source. The capital investment required to make these green fuel technologies commercially viable is immense. We're talking billions of dollars. No one is going to do it if they can keep getting cheap gas. The only firms who would do it are firms with long-term views who can afford to have their cash tied up for years and years. Most firms don't want to do that.

Okie dokie, my kids think I'm officially nuts thanks to the Dis! I'm sitting here, alone, cracking up at my computer screen. :rotfl: Now, this is good entertainment, you people are a bunch of wackos and I love you!

One of Obama's biggest things he kept mentioning was that he wants to help the economy, how would this help the ecomnomy??? Only a rumour!

Who starts this kind of garbage? I have to say I also wonder about people who believe all this stuff.

.

Its not a rumor..DH's brother stated that Obama made an annoucement and it came out of his mouth that when he takes over, gas prices are gonna sky rocket.

But I too agree that it does not make sense to listen to or circulate such rumours - I prefer to deal with factual information and will seek out supporting sources before listening to rumours which have no facts to support them.[/QUOTE]

Yeah I know it has to be passed all through congress. And I for one hope to God that it doesnt happen. Apparently Obama said that he was gonna forcefully make the prices rise.
---------------------------

I couldn't even read beyond the second page because of the utter nonsense of unsubstantiated rumors and "he said/she said" comments..

Let me know when there's a definitive, documented statement (that Obama himself said this) and when it actually happens..

Right now there are enough things wrong with the economy for people to be concerned with.. Adding nonsensical statements is not productive in the least.. :sad2:
