7/9/11 - Summer Magic in the Med

I can't believe the trip is almost here. We leave the 5th to spend 3 nts in Barcelona first. I have about 70% of our packing piled on our dining room table. I keep adding things to my TO DO list. Just can't wait to get on the flight. Plus I have read so many posts but did not print out all info I think I may need.
My kids are looking forward to making new friends. Hope we have good weather ....

Please tell Krisztina Happy Birthday! Our oldest daughter has the same birthday, and she also just turned 14! (celebration involved pasta and electronics. Not at the same time. )

Checking back in after almost a month!!!
I must have missed a new post and stopped getting notifications of new posts. We're in the process of weeding through the stack of stuff we want to pack. DH will be bringing his suit. (It's a southern thing.) I have prohibited DD's 6 inch heels - too heavy, too big.
I totally forgot the fish extender, so at this late date, please feel free to remove any items you had packed for our family. We won't be able to participate.
I see we have planned a meet at 3. Sounds good. Will any of the teenagers be attending? DD is 17 going to be a senior in high school. As an only child, she's always looking to meet people. Also, looking forward to practicing her French.

Hi All,
I've just been checking out the 10 day forecast for our cruise. So far looks to be hot,hot hot and dry. Highest temp forecast Palermo 36C (96F).

I to was checking the weather! Thrilled that it will be generally cooler on the cruise than here! Aside from the worst drought in almost 100 years, we've been 95F or higher since mid May. Barcelona is showing as 80F the day we pull out of port. I may need a sweater.

Wondering if again we will be the last ones to leave for the cruise? If anyone is still out there, have a safe trip!

Wrapping up work at the office this afternoon, nine holes of golf this evening and off to LAX tomorrow morning! We're still here physically, but mentally checking out as we speak! Should be in Barcelona about 5pm Friday, but Air France has already changed our flights multiple times so who knows! See you Saturday!

we are still here, leaving tomorrow at 4 p.m. and arriving in Barcelona friday at 2 p.m.

one oddball tip I just got from a friend who did a med cruise a couple years ago, when in Rome...if you purchase a snack or drink anywhere be sure to keep your receipt as the police have the right to ask you for it at anytime. also, she said she read on Rick Steves to be extra cautious when crossing the street in Rome as drivers do not always stop for a red light!

Hi all. Well we were on our way to bcn from jfk but our flight had an issue and now we are stuck in gander, newfoundland for the night! Here's hoping we make it by Saturday. I'm getting worried. I wonder if any other cruisers are on this flight...

our flight was cancelled and they rebooked us getting into BCN on Saturday night. Awesome. American Airlines, you suck. The end.

Nope you are not the last to leave..we leave from Newark, NJ on Friday night arriving in Barc on Sat Morning!

Where were you flying from? We are supposedly getting in Bcn in the morning now...fingers crossed!!

We were flying from Chicago through JFK. We're on our way to the airport now through Amsterdam and should make it there now!

We also went from Chicago to JFK yesterday. We were the 5:25 p.m. flight from JFK to BCN.
