7/30/2011 Mickeys FIRST 7 Night Med cruise

''Unofficially'' I have herd that other the last 48 hours, ''officially'' they are just not accepting reservations.

''Unofficially'' The reason is very poor sales in 2011.

As of yesterday the Trans Atlantic was still on the website for Sept. Don't know if they just forgot to disable it tho.:confused3 I think they should've offered EASTERN Meds this time in order to compete well with the Alaska cruises & the Dream. Three new ports on a Western Med was probably just not enough of a change. Everybody's staying on this side of the pond to do the Wonder & Dream at this point... We will likely do the July 20 Med tho. Hoping DCL gives a little more info. on Monday. But if not, we have a hold on our same SPH cabin so we'll just have our TA officially transfer it.

Now that the word is out I am surprised there are not a bunch of threads going about it... I knew about it on Thurs. nite but didn't know if it was a secret or not so I didn't want to talk about it openly. I guess now it's OK tho.

All travel agents with clients who booked these cruises were contacted in the last 48 hours, DCL hasn't published anything on its website as far as i can see, but my TA confirmed all Meds from 7/30 onwards in 2011, had there reservations suspended.

Now as you say TA in September is still on sale, a mistake? If its not a mistake it would imply that the Magic is changing ports in the Med, but then if that was the case, why do not DCL just say that? As this all under the cover, it would imply that the Magic is going back to PC, on 7/30 to 8/13 and resume 7 night Caribbeans.

But all this does contradict each other.

I do agree, The Dream, Alaska, changed focus onto USA coasts, the Med is a third year repeat now, and less of original interest.

Capscity is up by an additional 8,000 peopel a week, if you consider the DREAM has two lots of people each week.

ITA that if they're staying in Europe and just changing ports they should've given us the opportunity to keep our orig. sail date but with diff. ports. Not saying WHAT the plan is will just cause all of us to move to earlier cruises and then possibly switch AGAIN whenever they announce new itineraries. I might just call DCL and ask about the TA....

Yes 100%, lots of people have had the same message that they are suspended, or canceled but no further information, as you say if its a switch of ports why the cloak and dagger.

Please post what you find out, it costs too much from here, but I suspect, they will say less than we know here.

:lmao: I just called. The DCL agent I got DIDN'T EVEN KNOW about the suspended sales!! :rotfl2: He had no idea what was going on. He put me on hold for a bit to ask but nobody else there knew anything either. I just asked if the TA was still available for booking and it apparently IS for now. But they don't know what she's doing in the meantime.:confused3 My guess is they're trying to arrange for some diff. ports but nothing's official yet. Silly DCL.

Well thank you for the update, and exactly what I expected, I posted we knew more then the CM's answering the phones.

I bet

TA will move to 7/30 for arrival in PC 8/13, then resume 7 night Carribean cruises. TA in September will cancel.

It would be nice for new Med Ports, maybe Eastern Med, but I do not think so....

I will copy and paste to main forum so they can see your hard work.

Hmmmm these changes mess us about. I hope they are just changing ports. We can't go earlier so would have to look another cruiseline if they are cancelled all together, which we really dont want to do. I wondered why i was getting nothing up on the website.

I am the same as you, between a rock and a hard place.

School holidays prevent me from going any earlier.
Anything out of Europe involves extra cost of air fair.

I personally feel, they way they have gone about it, it is not a change of ports in the Med, I think the Magic is going back to Florida early. But would be happy to be proved wrong in this case.

So would you do the TA instead if they bring her home early?

I would consider it, its not my top choice, the advantages is its 14 days, a longer cruise, the price per day is good value, but disadvantages are port times some are very short, 5 days at sea!!!! in a row and a total of 8, I have done that before but if you get rough seas there isn't anywhere to go.

Repos have good entertainment, and varied food, far better than back to backs with repeats.

I would like to see Gibraltar and Madeira, but then there's a high cost of one way air fair which is the same as a return flight.

TA is not something we would consider. We want to go to Europe. From here, thats a big deal. And although we want sea days, we don't want quite that many. I'm really flexible re: ports though. So if they were to change, I'd be ok with that.

Yes the Med is my top choice.
