Sounds good... I have never done this.. now I have read, you select you own starter, then they serve a main course, the same as the main dinner rotation that night, and then desert, do you get yourself or do you order and it comes...

Some debate on the main boards, do you tip? I presume not, do they say anything on this issue?

We ate at Topsiders one night on our Med cruise when our Florence/Pisa excursion got back later than planned. They told us we could go to our main restaurant, but we were an hour late and didn't want those with late dinner to have a late start because of us. I don't remember what we ate, but we enjoyed it and said we'd have to try it again on another cruise. We had a family at a table next to us at our dinner seating that ate at Topsiders half the cruise so their kids could swim and they could wear shorts to dinner. Their kids were quite young and they thought the regular dinners were too long.

They will cut, my guess at least 0.5% but that was why the £ dropped last week, in fact the currency markets predicted far lower by Christmas maybe to-wards 2% in the new year, so factored in on the current rate.

What will effect us/you is any unpredictable events, and I 'think' our dirty washing is out and in the worlds arena, so all accounted for and in fact maybe an over reaction, I personally feel the result of the USA election ( whilst most people now think thats a foregone conclusion), will still have an effect sooner/later, as the new Economic polices come clear and into the open.

And still no one has considered the USA national debt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andrew - last time the exchange rate was this low was during the recession of 2001-2002. I know we were having the dotcom bust then. What was happening in the UK?

Yes read the thread...interesting must mean 2009 sales are very slow to offer it, staying in the Carribean all year was a silly decision for them, too much of the same, no verity, I would have had something esle, maybe 10 /11 night Southern Carribean, or a trip down to Panama and back, sales must be hit by the economy.

Its a pity they do not open it up to anyone who has cruised in 2008, but for me, with flights its a none starter, in the USA I would do it.

I think that's the tip of the iceberg. Vacations are discretionary spending. I think summer 2009 is going to be a great time to go on a cruise or to WDW - as I expect there to be plenty of discounts available and much lower than usual crowds.

Shouldn't impact Disneyland as much - it's a low cost vacation for the huge local population.

The family who were dining next to us on the EB PC loved topsiders!
The Husband would usually go to dinner there a second time after he was finished with his first seating!:lmao:

I am trying to remember, I do know I was in Florida WDW and Universal, in August 2003 and the exchange rate was 1.34 to the £, and that is far lower than it has been recently.

We have had the same government in for ten plus years now, and things they inherited were rather stable, there was 'talk' of us joining the Euro and I think at that time it pulled us down.

We were far higher than the Euro then and if we joined we would have had to devalue,

On Vacations I agree, in both countries there will be a move to cheaper holidays, more local, so the folks of LA will go to Disneyland, the holidays will be less expensive ,and the big spending ones such as cruises will be cut down.

But its also supply and demand, if DCL had gone back to the West coast for summer 09, and did two more repos they would have sold out and at a higher level.

In any Economy there are winners and losers, and there are people unaffected, those who have paid off their homes for example,

Just popping in to say hi! I've had some sort of stomach crud for the past day. I'm finally starting to feel human again!
