Even though it is a long ride, I am thinking we will take an excursion to Berlin.

This is the one time I recommend taking the ship's excursion. Especially since we are only in port 12½ hours that day. We were there for 15½ and a couple missed the ship.

OUr DD should be going there next summer so she can tell us all about it. She'll also be going to St.P and Tallinn again.

We will do the same for all ports but StP.
We loved Warnemunde and are really looking forward to enjoying the town once again. We would like to hang out at the beach and the beach side cafes as well.

We'll definitely be looking into what's offered for Warnemunde and Berlin. I was thinking that we'd love to see Berlin, but now i'm not so sure with the train ride. If we do Berlin, I'm thinking that's one port where we'll do the ship's excursion, just in case there's a delay getting back to the ship.

Copenhagen though we might see an exchange student who lived with us one year.

Copenhagen is an easy town to walk around, unless you take a wrong turn and find the Russian Consulate and the US Embassy around the corner from it. :confused3 Good thing we did find it, they gave us good directions and a really nice English guide book. I hope I brought that guide book home with me.

That would be nice to see your exchange student if you can.

Too funny. I was typing the same thing when you posted.

Great minds I guess.

On the Theme Night ideas...with so many European destinations, how about a:

Prince :jester: and Princess' princess: Night

I can swear that I read one of DCL's excursions at one of the ports would be a "Prince and Princess" type party in a palace somewhere. Of course, I have no idea where I read that, or if I even did.:confused3 If I made it up, it sounds cool, doesn't it?

That was our most relaxing port day. We sat along the beach for about 45 minutes or so, after walking along the beach a bit. Walked along the canal and popped in and out of shops, stopped for a few drinks here and there. It's definately a town that I could spend a week at and be perfectly happy.
They were having a food festival along the docks the day we were there and had a band and lots of food stand and beer stands set up. It was nice to see how the locals spend their time.

From the ship it's a 2 minute walk to the train station and another 2 minutes to the main section of the town.
There are several towns that are within 20-45 minutes by train. There is a person on cruise critic that lives in that area and has answered so many questions about the area and posted detailed pictures of the train station and town. He is a wealth of info on the area.

YOu did read this on DCL's site. I don't think they said which port it was, but it was in the little info teaser or on the webcast for the official announcement.
My thought is that it could be at Schwerin Castle near Warnemunde.
There's also a medievil castle in Tallinn that they could use as a venue, although it is more primitive than Schwerin Castle.

:scared1: That ant English!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well then what is it!

:scratchin OH! I feel so dirty and voyeuristic :rotfl:
Did you enjoy it? ;)

Why Thank You!!

It is truly a pleasure to be here and get together again with all you wonderful Ballyhooer's.... Is that a word? Doubtful.:rotfl:
You typed it, so it has to be a word! I like it! We are Ballyhooers!
[/COLOR]

The thought of baked beans on the same plate with my breakfast really is strange- uck!!!!!
I'm finding it a bit odd too, but would be willing to have it!

Ha Ha that EXACTLY why I do ...HIS name is Ray and he's our au pair....also cuts the grass, cleans the house and does the :laundy: and ironing :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Aren't we just special! ;)

Thanks for the advice, hadn't thought about backing it up but that does seem like a good idea as he's got all his Med cruise video and photos on it. The machine is not old under 2 years...is that old for a laptop

If you frequently use the laptop on battery power, it's possible that it's the battery. The batteries can only handle a certain number of charge/discharge cycles.

I heard on one of the podcasts that DISNEY rumor is...no one will be allowed off the boat in St. Petersburg unless they are on a Disney tour. Just a rumor thus far, but you might want to check this out.

I read on the DCL site that you'll be allowed off the ship if you have the necessary visa.

Hey I'm glad to see that Andrew and Carolyn felt comfortable enough to have a "domestic" in public with us here on the thread, :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 it's nice to see that complete family feeling growing :woohoo: :woohoo:
Just so everyone knows, our daughters agreed with me that he stole the pirate!

WOW, first we added FLUFFICATE to the English language and now BALLYHOOERS. This thread is culturally enriching,:rotfl:
:rotfl2: We'll be famous in the next version of Webster's Dictionary!

There will be no more talk that this cruise will be Cold and Wet. It won't be. The power of positive thinking!!!!! :thumbsup2 :woohoo: :grouphug:
as long as it isn't hot and humid like the Repo was this summer, I'm good! :thumbsup2

I will try Barb... but everything ive been reading says.... BRING A BIG UMBRELLA AND YOUR FLANNEL UNDERWEAR!!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad:
so it will be no different than living here in Seattle, I guess

Travel Channel is showing Samantha Brown:Passport to Great Weekends -London

She did The Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower of London. It looks like an awesome tour and it's free.:dance3:

Anyone ever do this? Any idea how far in advance you can/should request tickets?
that sounds like it would be a fun tour!
No biscuits today Barb just bagels and danish from the kosher bakery
I don't think I need to post pictures today then, stay tuned for tomorrow!

For NOT following the sport - that just rolled off your tongue too easily. ;)

I hope the 'biscuit of the day' is something different. I like it when you post the pics, although it does make me hungry.

Hi Ken! We know you will never keep up with JoAnn, but who can?? I gave up on that a long time ago, but I love chatting with her when I get the chance and it will be so much fun to be cruising with the two of you again.

Have a safe trip home!

Snow is coming the beginning of the week, so they say...joy, joy!

Thank you, Harole Ann, I like talking to you too (and I want those Disney bedrooms!)
