Congrats! We are in a SPH room as well - 5520. I love that location on deck 5 -- and the money saved over a cat 9.

HI All!!
Well.. Jimmy and I went the Disney /Four Seasons Meeting last night. We were expecting to be taken to a big conference room with lots of people, when instead, man greeted us in the lobby and took us upstairs to a small conference room with only 3 men and a woman who had video equipment set up. I thought- Oh no- what have I gotten us into now.. of course Jimmy shoots me the evil eye.. and I think- they’ve got us now!!! But I specifically asked if we were going to be asked to buy something when they called, and they said no on the phone. So we shook hands with everyone were introduced, and sat at the table.
There were lots of treats, but we didn’t eat, as we had no idea what we had gotten ourselves into. Well, to make along story half short- it was a meeting to really hear the ideas of the Disney Vacationer and their feelings about a Four Seasons high end resort on Disney property. It seems they are also planning a real “neighborhood” on this enormous property, which is near the Ft Wilderness area. Our questions were centered more around the community rather than the hotel although they did start by asking us how we felt about Disney having a high-end resort and what we would expect to see there and the amenities it should have. At the same time Jimmy and I both said we not expect to see buses!! ( I really don’t like taking the buses to the parks- I know many do- but I like the monorail and the boats or driving.) I am a spoiled brat at times! He said many people interviewed said the same thing about buses. He said an alternative may be private cars- smart cars/luxury vans ??? They are not sure, but they get the message about the buses.
OMG!! the drawings of this private community were breath- taking- 5 magnificent house/villa renderings with a Spanish/Tuscan/Mediterranean flare- tile roofs, intricate architecture stone/courtyards/ and right on the golf course and many lake-water views! One neighborhood will have a view of the fireworks each night. The homes will range from 3,000 sq. feet to 7 or 8,000 sq feet and range in price from 1.7 million to 6 million !!! These are not vacation homes to me, although the Disney rep said it could go both ways- year round living or renting them out- I guess- as you own these homes year round, not as timeshares.
You will have full use of the hotel, complimentary lifetime, year round tickets to all the parks, concierge service, grounds keeping, spa, fitness center, a clubhouse with every amenity you could imagine and I cant remember all the other “perks”! They also said a major perk was being able to say you live “in Disney”.
I must say, if I had it I would probably buy one in a minute- the drawings were really breathtaking, and believe it or not probably worth every penny of the estimated cost per house.
I would love to retire there although Jimmy and I both say we would never retire to Florida for many reasons. After seeing this- I could change my mind. It truly will be a luxury resort and community.
I felt kind of special that I was being asked my little opinion about this project. We were there for an hour and 45 min, and the time flew.
The Disney Rep said the hotel should be competed by 2011, and the first “set of homes would go up shortly after that. They are panning 3 or 4 “neighborhoods- 40 homes at a time probably not going up for sale until 2014????
I have to go cook or Jimmy will be on here wining again… Ill be back!!!!!

Anyone want to buy one with us???? We are very easy to live with, we have effervescent personalities- and of course you all know I have a wonderful sense of humor!! What else could you want in a living arrangement????

aloha,
We had that room on the Mexican Riveira 6/29/08. That is a great room. Centrally located and not to much foot traffic. To me it was very quite.

Sallie, I'm sure the PORTER family will go in with you on that . . . Andrew always says how much he misses you and your constant companionship . . .

Sounds really nice, I agree.

Yes, we did the Med last year in 5020, which is the same room as 5520 but on the port side, very quiet and a lovely location. These SPH rooms are a real treasure when you can get them.

Oh my gosh I just got a call from DCL.

I faxed in my request for the private room at Palo for brunch on one of our sea days this morning. I read somewhere that they process them on a first come, first served basis so I thought "it's never too early". Anyway the lady from IC just called to confirm that she has my fax and she has date and time stamped it and will review the request about 60 days prior to sailing when she will call me to get the confirmation numbers of all the adults who will be participating.

Oh WOW :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

GREAT NEWS! THANKS FOR DOING THIS!

OMG....I WANT to live there with the fireworks view. Where do I sign my life away?

That is so cool what you learned and that you were able to share this info with us. :worship:

Now I have to send this info to my friend that lives down there to see if knew this much about the property.

BTW...I absolutely HATE Disney buses as well. Love that AP since we stay at Bonnet Creek and drive to the parks, even tho they provide a shuttle, to get the free parking.

Yes, it's your choice because it's your pirate: !!

For us, on this side of the pond, we want a lower $$ to GBP ratio for things to be much cheaper for us. When we start hearing the Brits cheer they can come here cheaply we want to start crying.

Ex: This summer our hotel room was 115GBP, converts to $235.75. If we use the rate that Izzi just posted we would be paying $179.40. That's a huge savings for us, $56.35. That buys a whole lotta chocolate and biscuits in London.

Haven't seen that kind of rate since the late 90's or so.

Wow, that's quite a difference! Thx for the tutorial!:thumbsup2

There's 1 place in Chicago that sells Henry and they didn't have the turbo model that I wanted. I found a place in the UK that could get me the turbo model in the voltage fitted for the US AND would ship to the US. They had to put in a special order to the company for it, but they got it for us.
I :lovestruc my Henry!
Are you half-Brit, Barb?:confused3 :rotfl:

Why do think Disney released and srted booking for these cruises so much earlier than the 2007 European cruises ?

We booked the Med cruise on release day which I think was April 6th 2006 15 months before sailing. This time we all booked on release day which was 21 months before sailing.

Do you think DCL think they may have problems getting people to fill up all the cruises with this economic situation or they knew that us mad, nutty compulsive planners enjoy the months and months and months and months of gossiping...I mean planning :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Influx of cash to help pay for new ships?:rolleyes1
