From your trip to St Pete last time...did you think the metro was worth a stop if you find yourself pressed for time???
Thinking of using the hydrofoil instead...maybe.
Would a short stop at one of their metro stations be enough?

Also got our plane tickets

Flying out of JFK as it is $200 pp cheaper than flying out of Dulles.

DH thinks we will need to pay for extra checked bags as we will need some heavier clothing in case it is cold?? Not winter coats, but sweatshirts and jeans will take up more room than shorts and t-shirts....

Wondering about shoes as well. If it rains while we are in port, sneakers can get drenched and take a long time to dry...
Is there something you can buy that will help shoes dry out faster???

What I found really helpful when we are travelling to a place that can start out cool in the am and then heat up and cool down again at night are pants that zip off the bottoms and become shorts. We brought them when we went to Fla. this Feb. (although it was so cold w didn't zip them off at all) but they are really comfortable. We got ours at Eastern Mountain Sports and I know they are quite common. I don't think I'll take any shorts with us as two pairs of these pants should suffice for shorts, plus a few pairs of cotton long pants should work for the rest of the days.

We had tons of extra time and really liked the metro stop we did. We only rode it for 2 stops, so it didn't take that much time.
Our driver dropped us off at the first station and then we rode the 2 stops and our driver picked us up there. On the advise of our guide we all left everything in the van. We did this on the 2nd day and we were only staying in the city after going to the Hermitage in the morning.
We were even back to the ship about an hour early after adding in a stop at an ATM, the post office and shopping.

The metro will not bring you back to the city from Peterhoff, you will either take the Hydrofoil or your bus/van.

I'm adding a metro stop again this time since last time they were going renovations and some of the crystal columns and marble walls were covered up.

Last time we all did end up taking a pair of shorts to wear around the ship on sea days.
Rather than taking sweatshirts take a couple of thinner shirts that can be layered. This will take up much less space than sweatshirts.
Another tip is to wear your heaviest pair of shoes on the plane, don't pack them.
DH won't be taking a suit, that takes up too much room for no more than it will be worn. Not to mention he would need dress shoes as well.

My wife is just planning on doing the mid-leg style of pants with a light jacket and just being a little cold first thing in the morning. I think we are going to pack a sweatshirt for each of us though just in case since we learned our lesson at WDW the year it was in the 30s.

We were just starting to finalize everythign and they went and added a bunch of stuff over the past few days so now we are going to wait a bit longer to make sure they are done messing with the options

Yes, I have seen them tinkering with all the trips but in the last week no changes, and now some are booking, I think they will settle down.

Do you know how long of a drive it would be from DE to Boston? Looking at flights and AerLingus is having a nice sale.

New York is 3 hours take the train Acela (that is 5 hours Washington DC to Boston, or take the Fung Wa Bus

I had a few for my DS when he was little. I'll go looking for them again in a few months...as he is likely to go up in size and me hopefully down
Maybe a trip to Potomac Mills outlet (maybe we''ll get a chance to meet up there this summer?)

We are leaning toward renting a DCL tux for the guys partly for saving space in the luggage and partly for the nice formal pics The guy's dress shoes alone weigh a ton Nice to have it all there and not have to pack. We rarely get a chance to dress up like that so worth it for us

And yes laundry is a given...we are a messy family

yeah I was thinking at least one sweat shirt a piece for us, plus light jacket as well,...so we have some variety in what we are wearing in our pictures
I'll leave sweaters at home so I have an excuse to buy one.
