The only hard port to decide so far is Copenhagen. Do we want to see the castles in town or the castles in the countryside :rotfl:

Other than that it is going to simply be which castle tour at a given port are we doing. (We don't like castles at ALL) :rolleyes1

I haven't had a chance to look at the excursions yet, I'll do that tonight when I get home from work. I'm just excited that in Copenhagen, we'll have a private tour from an exchange student we had living with us 7 years ago. It's hard to believe she is now 23 years old and in medical school!

How exciting for the private tour.
I'm trying to get something together for Oslo from Geir Ness, the fragrance creator for the ladie's/men's cologne that is sold in Norway at Epcot. He's from Oslo.

Going through the shore trips, they are as expected from research on other cruise line websites, but suspect the prices will be far higher.

Ha vent do down to lower than two trips in each port, its more a case of trying to cut out the ones I wouldn't so.

Nice to see the DREAM trip there, I said about that in 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted it a few times on this forum there would be a trip there, even before the Baltic cruises were announced..

I remember that, Andrew! You were right! That trip sounds fantastic, especially for aspiring pilots and ship captains like my kids. We'll see.

The ball at St. Catherine's is the only other one that strikes me right away as being something unique and worth doing with DCL as opposed to on our own or with a private tour, but I haven't had a chance to review everything yet.

Does anyone else find the age restrictions a bit conservative? My son is only 7 so still can't do a lot of the active excursions like horseback riding or cycling, yet at 5 years old he went horseback riding on an independently booked excursion and also rode his bike 19 miles in the Colorado mountains. I realize ability level varies significantly, but the restrictions seem a bit too tight, and for a family cruise line, it would be nice to see more active choices for active kids!

You have a good memory!!!

Anyway on the subject of ages, DCL has always been very conservative, sometimes I agree with them sometimes I do not. I see people on the main forum trying to get around the age restrictions with Dolphins at Cozumel. Its in the sea on platforms, we had to hold my son all the time there and it was difficult. Now funny enough Discovery cove with is more control, not in the open sea has a higher restriction.

I have been reading through all these, so not posting, but there are lots of walking 2.5 miles on many, lots of small boats etc, long days, so age restrictions I understand.

But as I started they tend to err on the safe side a bit too much as its 'Disney'. You can see global TV headlines Kid aged 3 does.... on Disney cruise.

Are the excursions open for booking on our sailing? When I go into my reservation (and we are Castaway Club members) I get this message:

"Sorry, access to My Cruise Plans is not currently open for this reservation. Access opens 75 days prior to embarkation, 90 days prior for Castaway Club members, and 105 days prior for Concierge Guests. Also, note that access to My Cruise Plans closes 3 days before your cruise departure date. "

I would just like to read the descriptions of the excursions.:surfweb:

You can look at the Northern Europe excursions through the general DCL page, you just can't book them through My Cruise Plans. Not all the information is up yet, though (like pricing!).

You click on city by city and look at Port Adventures.

They also have a nice search page where you can select the port and type of activity:

'Morning everyone. Heading out in about 3 hours to pick up DD from school before heading to the airport. It's warming up in FL, which is a very good thing. Now to wonder if the Haiti earthquake will have any effect on the seas. :confused3 Oh well, I'll take my Sea-Bands and hope for the best.
Not sure if I'll check in before we sail in the morning or not - so have a good weekend all.

Evening all,

Still looking through Shore trips,

Been told we will hopefully get pricing in ''two weeks''.

Barb/jilljill

Re your post on the main forum re all day trips in St Petes, what makes me think the long ones are on the second day is the comments and important information, IE on the Evening Ballet tour its got a warning.

Guests should note that due to the timing of this evening performance, it is recommended to use one of the Casual Dining options onboard the ship.

This warning is not on the 8 hour St Petes trips and considering our arrival time, if they are on the first day it will disrupt dinner, even if pushed back to 7pm, for main and 9pm for late.

Just took a look at the general descriptions of shore excursions and realized that I NEED MORE DAYS IN BERLIN!

Someone was asking about London hotels. This is where we are staying for 2 nights before the cruise. I think we snagged the last family room though for 115 pounds per night. There is no elevator or air conditioning, but it has some very good reviews on trip advisor and for only 2 nights it works for us. Getting to the 3rd floor with all our luggage is going to be a pain, but we'll survive;)

My party (3 adults) are staying at the Park Plaza Riverbank :dance3:

howdy

to those who are traveling - safe travels and have fun

starting reading about excurions - and my head is spinning

printed out a few that might work or not but easier to read than hunched over computer

finally to have a heat wave tomorrow - we might get up to 37 - yippee skippie

hope everyone is having a great day! :) :yay:

Afternoon tea break from studying - pounding headache from all those numbers, or maybe from trying to sift through the shore excursions. It seems as though the thaw (not that you'd know driving down my road) has finally started which means I'll shortly be complaining about the floods!

Only 1 day to the week-end & school is still only 10-245!!!!

Hey we had a rubbish collection today! First time since Christmas, we are seeing a thaw, though not a lot..
