Yes the airfare ''gone' has aid for the Cat 3, someday you will get a DCL cruise out of NY,

(Now wait for a new thread to start up inspired by that quote):rotfl:

I can see it now --

Andrew Derek UK confirms DCL cruises out of New York for 2011

-- then the others attacking you and saying that there is no way it could ever be true:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I'm sure it will be true one day -- the RCCL ships sail from just across the Hudson in NJ, the Cunard ships out of Brooklyn, and the Norwegian ships off the docks near Chelsea in Manhattan . . . I would take any of those!

Hey this is how rumors start, last time you and me had an exchange like this a thread opened up re DCL NY cruises, and it went on and on, as if it was a dead cert, I even felt obliged to post a disclaimer that was pure speculation and not the real thing,

Now to rebalanced it.

ALASKA HAWAII SOUTHERN CARIBBEAN BARCELONA DOVER

Any one reading, is it ALL or one or two, which is 2011 and which is 2012!

Oh Yes.........

NEW YORK
:rolleyes1

Morning all :wave2:
Thought I would pop in for a quick look before we head up to the airport in a little bit. Heading to San Francisco for the week. Looking forward to cooler, dryer weather and the yummy clam chowder in a bread bowl at the Boudin Bakery.
Catch you all in 9 days. :wave2:
Have a great time. San Francisco is wonderful. We were there last June for our anniversary. Had a lobster dinner at Anthony's. I had to buy a sweatshirt!!

Bad time to fuel the rumours as you're jetting off & not around to deny it!!!! As the Med has not sold as well as DCL had hoped I wonder if they'll try something different if they come back to the med again - not sure what tho'. I'd still like to do Alaska, so would hope that is on for say 2012, but let's get this TOAL out of the way first!!!

Ah but its the balance in Europe, firstly the BALTIC has sold very well indeed high prices, all the high Cat cabins all gone, suites all gone, only lower deck rooms left, and still a year to go, a cruise industry first.

Next back to the Med, yeah a bit slower, but they were always going to be the 'supporting act', people said and posted again and again that the MED IN 2007 was a disaster for DCL, in fact it sold far better than any peak season cruise in the Caribbean and at Caribbean low season, and then the shore trips all had a high take up, at an average high cost, and made DCL a bomb.

They had a little discounts on Cat 12s but that was it, last time the TA;s didn't sell as well, this time far better.

Now for 2010 if any other cruise line sailing the Med was as full as DCL, at this point a year out, they would be very happy,

Remember, firstly the cruises with free kids are the shoulder ones at the very start and very end of the season when kids are in school, they never where going to sell, next in 2009 DCL has had to heavily discount regular Caribbean cruises as they have both ships in that region all year, too much capacity, they have had free kids, bounce back, veradah bookings with $700 OBC etc, so they haven't been spectacular.

Next in 2010 whilst the Magic is away, the Wonder is charging far higher rates and is very full, so its more money all around.

So is the Magic back in Europe in 2012- YES! for the summer, maybe with some changes!

Now that you mention it, we did inadvertently start a rumor before by joking around!:rotfl: I guess I forget how many people lurk about and read the threads without ever posting!

So now when the big rumor gets started, someone will notice that you haven't been on the Dis for a while and will say that you were banned from the Dis by giving out industry secrets:rotfl2: and all the while you will be having fun in Florida and the Caribbean:)

PS

Update me fuel rumors never.......

DCL just phoned and told me to remove the post, they have had 87 faxes into IC for cruises out of New York in the last 30 mins. For SPH Suites, :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

I have been told off a few times for being to accurate and they felt it came from an embargoed source....

(If you are reading. No it didnt!)

People distance themselves from me!!! as they do not want the blame!!!

So thats why I put a disclaimer on the old New york thread, as it took hold from some joking around....

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I thought the faxes weren't going through so I kept re-sending!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:Sorry about that, DCL;)

Ah your to blame!!!

Are you sure that is why people are distancing themselves?:lmao:

Well its either that or BO, or being a freind of Captain Crash, has he been in contact with you???

Now what you have to remember, is things can and do charge over a time period, for example we all knew they were after Alaska as they applied for permits to sail Glacier Bay.

But what you have to know it’s there are scouts out there all the time in various potential ports of call, looking at facilities, looking at cost, looking at local tours and shore trips, and for home ports, supplies including food of large quantities compatible with quality for DCL menus. Many ports ask for Disney, but fail to come up to their standards.

So this is an ongoing scouting check, and lots get dropped, for example we know about Tampa being considered against Port Canaveral, and also San Diego has been considered against San Pedro, now San Diego is not out of the long term running just lost out on the first round of two years.

They have other commitments for dry dock, each ship twice in five year period mandatory, and try to tie in with Disney parks and resorts and advent ours by Disney.

Their top priority is not the region to cruise, it is of course income, so reduce capacity in the Caribbean and move ships to West coast USA, or Europe on special limited cruises and they sell well and at a far higher price, stay in the Caribbean or extend stays in Europe, supply/demand shows price will fall.

They have scouts out again in Europe, for 2012, something’s can be clear something’s out of focus, I think I was first or one of the first to say West coast in 2011, I didn’t say the Wonder, I said the Magic. I thought the Dream would take over seven night Caribbean cruises, but other reports seem to show it takes over the Bahamas run.

I know I was the first for many months to say Baltic in 2010, and there was more, to it, I called them phantom cruises to/from UK, I said one of three ports for the UK that was out of focus, as it was Dover, but said Madeira, I said Tunis and said Malta.

But things can and do change at the last minute Alaska is the example, it was on, then off, I do not think it’s dead in the water (pardon pun), but Hawaii seems to be on the radar, more and more.

Overall they never do anything rash, they build things up slowly, and carefully, i.e. Eastern Caribbean only first, then some Westerns, then special Westerns then special Eastern, Panama and West coast repeated every three years, Europe was about the most rash they got and it worked very well.

Each time the pattern is extend it a bit more, Baltic bolts on to the Med for example.

What I do know and have been posting for a while is there is a big announcement coming, I said by the end of August, that’s what I was told, actually it looks like September 10th, D23 Expo, and we are in for a few surprises soon, in a month!:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Never a dull moment:goodvibes This should be interesting :thumbsup2

I'd like to vote for the Greek Isles!!!! :rotfl::laughing::cool2::rolleyes1

Sounds great to me -- and MaryAnn (Mrs G) and Robert (RJAYL) had already expressed that wish, but Andrew said he didn't see that in the cards for the next few years:sad2::sad2::sad2:

I would like it myself as well, I am off to Greece, Rhodes in fact in 2010 for my beach holiday as I feel the Blatic cruise will not be a 'rest' more of an endurance test until the last two sea days.

But the question is where they would home-port, if assuming Barcelona remains the Europe main home port, (and I think it will) it makes Greece a little more difficult to get to.

Now you could extend up to 14 nights but that would increase the price and put people off, the only option really would be to string some cruises together, so say Barcelona to Venice, then Venice to Athens, then Athens to Greek Islands and then reverse. But it adds a bit more air fare, cost and time for the main market cruisers of USA.

I was a little dismissive as I understand UK is involved again in 2012, makes sense re the Games being on in London. Plus also DLP, Greece is moving away from the cross sale opportunity there.

So I am not saying Never, but saying do not think so..... Whilst I was in Venice I bumped into a crowd of Adventures by Disney with the cute Mickey mouse boards up front,, now was he a Cruise Scout???

I saw them when I was in Venice too:confused3 I wonder how often the Adventures by Disney go to Venice?????

I do not know on that, assume maybe monthly or twice a month, in the summer months, but bumped into them 2>3 times whilst there, what I would say is we will see more cross selling of all Disney products now, all tied up, this is where they missed a trick before, they went to LA in 2005 and no one at the start thought of any tie in with Disneyland, they had to add it after!

Now, Theme parks, DVC resorts, DCL, and Adventures by Disney will be all allined into joined up options.

That's just smart marketing -- if you have the products, you should create the synergy between them whenever possible.

Its logical, but the funny thing was they 'didnt' do it at the start, the LA West coast trips in 2005 they didnt 'think' of it??????

Yes, someone dropped the ball at Disney marketing not to have figured that out for 2005:confused3

Only a few more days until your vacation, Andrew!:cool1: Be sure and give us a review of your cat 3 when you get back.
