:wave2: Hi All!

I'm back - ok not entirely! I'm off to soon (Monday actually) but wanted to drop you all a line to say I'm still alive, SUPER busy but who isn't right?

Anyway, Steve and I are off to Peru come Monday on our Adventures By Disney. I hope all goes well. Keep me in your prayers that we arrive and return safely. To any and all traveling, stay safe and when our 90 day booking window comes, good luck to you all!

Take care all and I'm attempting to blog as Steve needs to take his laptop for payroll purposes (ahuh - that's what he says) so I have included my blog in the signature if you want to follow along. Don't quote me on that. I hope to be super busy but you never know.

LOL - love you all :dance3::banana::yay:

Good to hear from you Laura!!! DH& I are thinking of doing that ABD in 2011 so please give me your honest opinion when you return. He wants to do it and I'd rather do almost anything else. :rotfl2: But he is so wonderful about my Mouse fix that I'll go, of course.

Is this

25,000 posts?

Congrats!!!!!

Good Morning All
Yes I am Baaaaaaack!

Welcome back Robert. You were missed (by SOME people, anyway.) :lmao:

I saw your posts on the main cruise forum . . . I think I will book a dummy cruise when on the Magic later this month to transfer in case something looks irresistable for 2011:banana:

This is what I did last month. When I did it I was told that when you transfer to a new ressie you will get the going onboard incentive - which has been rumored to be lowered to a 5% discount instead of the 10% that has been offered for years.

YES!:thumbsup2

:grouphug: What did you think of the tribe?

The Carnival Glory is a large ship about 4 years old too big to fit through the Panama canal (currently) a bit chopped up 3 salt water pools (water temp was good) nice water slide that they let adults use!:cool1::thumbsup2:banana:

The ship had poor for to aft flow on decks 3 & 4 (public decks!):confused3

Food was the best better then DCL & Royal in Main dining room & supper clubs
I would give the nod however to Royal's Buffet!

Stateroom steward was great Dining room staff was good as well!

Lots of smokers all in all a good value!

I am still waiting for DCL's new ships!:rolleyes1

Saw the Magic in port 2x & the Wonder in Nassau.

Bought some watches !

Also bought a giant Aztec wooden Calender in Costa Maya for over the Fireplace!

Costa Maya was a hoot! taxi to the beach 2 dollars a person find a place to sit everything is 1 dollar beer drinks taco's! Jet Ski's $30 a half an hour!:)

The tribe was nice to meet - even your son being as quiet as he was. DD still talks about your youngest wanting her to stay with you guys - she thought that was cute.

We were on 2 Carnival ships last summer and their flow - or rather lack of flow - on some of the public decks has a lot to be desired and they should be made to redesign the ships so you can walk forward to aft on all public decks. Even the brand new ship, Splendor, that we sailed last summer had no forward-aft access on decks 3 and 4. This made it a pain going to dinner some nights.

We are back home in DE, got home Monday afternoon. Been adjusting to life at home again and getting ready for vacation this weekend. We are going to San Francisco on Sat. for 9 days. Looking forward to the much cooler temps than we have had.

Glad you posted that, not that it may reduce, but I have posted on the main forum for a while now that booking a dummy and moving it on doesn't guarantee you will get the current discount. It will be subject to the deals in force at that time, or on that ship.

I think the DREAM will be 5% discount, the others will be the full 10%. And the DREAM might be further restricted, at the start for say 3>6 months.

It does depend on bookings, if they can fill the DREAM they will not offer large discounts. The current older ships will need discounts or new trips like the Wonder in LA to keep capacity up.

PS

Paid of 58% of this cruise now as $ rate 1.70 and rising!!! could we make $2 a £ now again well wait and see, I think it will be volatile but will now increase but not to $2 until 2010 mid year.

Interesting - I would say that if they were only giving a 5% onboard booking incentive, especially for the older ships, it would make it more likely that people just wait around for a sale or special . . . I might be tempted to go that way rather than give DCL my deposit money for so long . . .

My guess is the 5% would be for the DREAM, and 10% for Magic and Wonder, unless they are on a special cruise say Christmas, Panama, etc, Who knows the older ships could go to 12.5%

Note A lot of Travel agents are not accepting either transfered, or On board bookings as they get less commission so this effects demand for DCL, reducing the discount gives TA's more commission therefore more attractive to sell!

TA's do not get less commission when they are assigned when doing an onboard booking. Well, it is a less commission due to a discounted cruise, but it's not less coming from DCL like when doing a transferred booking. Besides, how could the TA not accept the booking when they have already been assigned as the TA when the cruise is booked?
My TA's company was giving less of an OBC when I rebooked for the Baltics cruise and got the discount, even tho the base price of the cruise had gone up from my original booking. I asked my TA why the lower OBC and she said it was because of the 10% off, but she's giving me the additional $200 I lost from the company bringing my OBC back up to $600.

Andrew,

Do you see any cruises to Greece for the Magic, say in 2012 , in your crystal ball?

OK

What I thought I posted was:-

(just an example on simple maths not a DCL quote)

10k cruise cost,

-10%

9k cruise cost.

Travel agents get their percentage on £9k rather than £10k, therefore get less commission.

Now on lower Cats that can wipe out economical commission rates against cost and some non specialist TA have stopped accepting these.

Now if you book onboard and no don't nominate a TA there and then, and then transfer DCL pays less commission to TA. Again lots of TA;s now refuse this.

Short answer NO, longer answer still no.

Cruises out of Barcelona and Dover, remember some country has the 2012 Olympics and lots of people and their friends will be coming to the center of the universe to see the games and have a ride on the DLR.

As your offering for us all, I accept Cat 3 for me.....
