7/18/2010 Mickey's Baltic Ballyhoo!! Part 4

Just got back from a short trip to Yosemite, and some of the weirdest weather I had experienced.

Arrived Monday - beautiful spring day. Tuesday morning was clear and brisk, but about 11:30am, some clouds came in and within an hour it was hailing! A few hours later it was snowing!

So that night was in a Curry tent cabin (heated, fortunately). The annoying thing about that is, of course, you have to go out to use the restrooms that are a few hundred feet away. But hey, you just have to bundle up well and brave the cold and the bears.

Oh yeah, Curry was crawling with bears that night. Saw two myself that night, another the next morning. First time in maybe a dozen visits to the park that I actually saw a bear.

Morning was beautiful - the meadows, cars, etc. had a light dusting of snow. But it got warm quickly and by noon it was mostly gone.

Overall a great visit.

Wow that's quite a story!:scared1:

No, although I have tickets to see West Side Story on June 9, and a friend of mine is playing violin in the pit orchestra. The reviews for that were not as glowing as one might have thought, but honestly with the Sondheim/Bernstein score, I don't see how it could be anything but a good time. You know, if have tolerance for a bit of nudity, the revival of Hair is wonderful . . .

I heard recently that Hair was excellent (and the best seats are on the stage?)

No, there are no seats on stage, although they sell the seats in the boxes on either side via a lottery 2 hours before each show -- only $25 a ticket if your name gets drawn. They call them the "be-in boxes" . . . I would say the orchestra seats closest to the stage and preferably on an aisle are the best, since the performers scatter throughout the entire theater at times and really bring everyone into the action. I have a few friends performing in it, and we have already seen it three times since it transferred to Broadway (saw it maybe 10 times at the Delacorte in Central Park last summer)!

Have a great weekend all
