7/18/2010 Mickey's Baltic Ballyhoo!! Part 4

I am having a hard time getting excited about the Dream. 4700 passengers vs 2300 on the Magic/Wonder (or something like that).
I do not like 'big' ships, too crowded.
For what it is worth I followed Andrew's advice & sent off a comment to DCL!:teacher:

That should get me somewhere!:headache:NOT!

I know they have received considerable correspondence on this, quite a few PM's to me agreeing with my views and said they pinged in notes. It was noticed by some TA's who also have made representations on longer cruises. But so far its been set responses and an additional FAQ on the CC site in response.

But that was their approach for 2008 Panama crossing when they wanted to impose $PP in extra taxes, they wouldn't budge until TA;s took it on. DU fr example embarrassed them buy 'compensating' their cruisers with extra OBC's to cover.

But this ia just a part, not releasing prices, or the new Cat levels in advance is just not good business. That coupled with the fact you can be in the cheapest room, but have sailed 10 times on the Wonder, (30 days) and book Palo and shore trips at the same time as very expensive Suites!!!:sad2:

Good morning, everyone -- Andrew, it's nice to see you back here in the safe haven of our nice comfy thread!:):):)

You know what did it, you mentioned the couple of threads on the main forum, I didn't know about those as one was deleted and the other closed, and I hadn't been logging in, and presume these might have been started USA time, so you can miss things. Anyway found one and reference to the other. Then made PM contact with quite a few nice people who have all said the same thing as you.

Some want me back as they say there isn't anyone to fight their battles I am fair, but when a thread goes a certain way, they are too frightened to post.

Thats nice, they do not want the 'bad' posters to win, and feel if others such as myself drop out the bad posters will finally win.

Anyway, still looking at Alaska???

If I had liked their 7 night Alaska trip I would have flown, with either New York before or after it, and fit in Niagara and Toronto.

But:-

  • Do not like their days/port times/ schedule
  • These ones still will sell fast and at a ridiculous cost.
  • We both now are restricted in our current jobs to two weeks leave, I changed my job early this year, the Mrs had restrictions come in last year.
  • Susan also is getting fed up with Long flights, and the cost can be 50% of the trip, and so three weeks was logical.

So made a very last minute change, pulled out of Alaska, !!!!

Wont go the Dream, again expensive for what it is, novelty factor, let them iron out the little snagging issues at the start and really do not like 3/4 night trips too short.

Like the longer ones, the recent 7 night one felt like it was over in a flash.

PS do not tell anyone!!

Yeah, don't let the *******s get you down!!!! (edited by myself rather than get in trouble with the Disboards . . .)

I do have a game plan for my TA tomorrow and hopefully will have a reservation with a veranda for one of the Alaska cruises by this time tomorrow . . . I like the novelty of the Alaskan cruises, and the wildlife opportunities, and it will be fun to be in such a novel place yet in the familiar environment of DCL. Of course, I still think nothing beats a Med cruise . . .

Good luck, I think dispite my concerns they will sell very fast indeed for novatly, but nothing beats a med cruise other than, Two Med cruises, and one Baltic cruise.

When oh when are they getting that DVD out on shore trips for the Baltic!! (its not as if they have been busy recenty with anything!)

It's true, two Med cruises and a Baltic sound heavenly:littleangel:

I have been wondering about the shore trips as well! I'm actually planning on doing all the ports on my own, with a private tour in St P, but it is fun to see what they have (and the prices!) . . . clearly they have it planned since they have released vague descriptions as PR.

Maybe they will come out with the Med ones shortly, presume they are working out prices, the newspaper article that was posted recently was quite specific on both, so looks like nearly a done deal.

I have been in contact with, Anastasia in St P's for a two day private tour, as well, but in all the others its DCL, Well Tallinn we might Walk it, we will see.

Caro where are you?!? Sent you a PM and an email.

Here I am! I'm sitting on the sofa in my living room! Just responded to both!

Sorry, I couldn't see you around the corner sitting on your sofa. It must be the angle that I'm sitting on my sofa. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

Must of been! I scooted over a little bit and then you saw me!
Let me know as soon as you hear something in the morning! Carol didn't call me back, so I'm just assuming she got me message!

Good Morning All

So should I book a flight leaving Barcelona at 11AM on American or 1:45PM on British Airways?

On the Med in 2007 that airport had long lines did anyone take an early flight?

I would go with 1:45 . . . since you are supposed to be at check in for international flights three hours before, it means you would have to get there at 8 for the earlier one - and things can be unpredictable.

Morning Robert,

I haven't flown out of Barcelona before but in the interest of not having to listen to your wife if you would happen to miss the 11:00 flight I would book the 1:45 flight to be safe. I know that I'll be booking the later flight out of London for our flight home so we don't have to worry about missing the earlier flight. Just my thought for you.
