This is actually our 2nd thread for this cruise, so we really like to talk. Not sure if you saw or not, but some like to call us chattylicious.
I'm Barb, my DH is Jay and doesn't post and DD, Alexa, will be 16 when we cruise. We just did a Baltics cruise this past July and DD will be going back to StP and Tallinn this summer.

We really don't bite. We are a fun bunch on here.

Chattylicious sounds like a fun time. Who did you do the Baltics trip with? We considered going with Princess, almost half the price, but a trip with the Mouse :mickeyjum is priceless!!! My SIL and I and the three girls are       but the guys are just sitting back stressing about what we got them into moneywise.
I do believe in fairies, so with a little faith, trust and pixie dust :tinker: we are going to have a great trip.

I looked at this the other day and saw that I had gone past Robert and didn't like I had more post than him. Where is Robert?!? He needs to talk way more than me. :dance3: :woohoo: :grouphug:

Maybe I can start with my life story...
It was a dark and stormy night, wait, maybe it was a hot sunny morning. Give me time, I'll try to get it right.

OUr Baltics cruise was with Carnival on their new ship this past summer. We loved the ports but really were bored in the evenings and on sea days on the ship. We kept saying we wished we were on a Disney ship so we could have fun, that was all of us. So when we saw DCL was doing a Baltics cruise I had to book it and chose this one since it goes to Tallinn and we really enjoyed the Old Town.
I told my brother about it and he decided to join us, he and his family have not been on DCL nor to Europe.
This is really going to be a great trip based on our past experience and this great group of Ballyhoo'ers. :grouphug:

You have now figured out how to 'fluff' and get more posts. :lmao: :rotfl: :dance3:

Okay, if that doesn't sound interesting, how about labor with my first baby and how she turned breach during labor and how they decided it would be fun to turn her around and..................yeah I know, that is a story for another day.

My in-laws have never been on a Disney Cruise either. They have annual passes and enjoy Disneyland. I mentioned I wanted to do this cruise and my sil got way into it and she is the one that got us decided and booked quickly. I kept telling them how much fun it was on the trip and of course a dinner at Palo!

Jilljill I'm glad you mentioned liking Tallin. :) I've never even heard of the place before this cruise came out, but the more I hear about it the more excited I become about walking around this town. Wernemunde sounds cool too. I love the old world feel that everyone describes.

I hope they have a good bakery and chocolate shop and....:cake:

My DD is doing a report on Estonia focusing on Tallinn for her midterm. The majority of the kids in her class have never even heard of it and she will be going there this summer and then again on the cruise next summer - lucky kid.

As far as chocolate goes in Tallinn, the main chocolate company brought in a tractor trailer they have set up as a shop and parked it at the port. Now that's some good chocolate, everyone got a bit of chocolate from Tallinn. I've heard some of the best marzipan can be found in Tallinn, but I don't remember the name of the shop that sells the 'best'.

Also in Tallinn there is the sweater wall. It's essentially an alley lined with stalls of sweater vendors. I didn't find the prices to be very good, but did find very good prices on some pieces of amber there. I forgot to take a pic of the 'wall'. I ended up getting a linen sweater in one of the shops, along with lots of other things and the shopkeeper gave me a discount for my purchases.

There was a bakery in Warnemunde that we went to but we only got beer, cappuccino and milk and used their restroom; but the pastries looked so yummy. Then along the walkway to the port we stopped for crepes which were very good. We went to a little pharmacy and picked up gummy bears, tea, sugar and drinks.

These were my 2 favorite ports for just walking around and getting a real feel for the locals. We really would like to go back to Warnemunde and stay a few days, we liked it that much.
I could probably do the same in Tallinn.

Glad your SIL got you decided and booked.
We've been on 6 DCL cruises, with 2 more booked, and I'm the only 1 that has eaten at Palo and that was for tea and I didn't like it. So I'm really looking forward to brunch on this cruise and hopefully being able to book it for my 4 day in June.

OK< just because I am Queen Gogglicious, I had to google John's. Which one is it you're talking about?

http://www.johnsbrickovenpizza.com/

I see Barb answered already, but there are three locations of John's in NYC . . . the one in Greenwich Village was the first, then the one just off Times Square, and there is another one (nicely not filled with tourists but with the same great food!) on E. 64th St. I have a lot of pizza places I like in NYC, but we probably go to John's the most often (and Barb is correct, for here the price is right!).

Ok Ballyhooers another film that I would highly, highly recommend you go and see, it's DEFIANCE starring Daniel Craig. For those of you who haven't heard of it as it's only just been release it's a true story about the Jews of Bellarussia who escaped the Nazi "cleansing" and hid in the forests for over 4 years, led by 4 brothers.

It's a very moving and powerful film made even more so as it's a true story. 2 of the 4 brothers survived and lived to a ripe old age in the U.S. 1 died fighting with the Russian army later in the war and what happened to the youngest is unknown.

If you feel like watching a grownup film, rather than just some fun and fluff it's well worth the effort. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Funny, DH and I were going to go to the movies last night, but we couldn't agree on what to see. The only movie we did agree on (Defiance) was not playing anywhere near us:sad2:
Darren was saying he's hoping that it will get a wider release next week:confused3
The movie sounds fascinating:thumbsup2

Ok, welcome to our new CA friends and fellow sailors...............:goodvibes

Thx to Julie for the recommendation for BE...........I checked that out for my recent New Years trip and it cost $2100 for my family but if we went on a Tuesday it was like $500 so we passed on that one. That's definitely on my list.............so it's time to plan the NYC DISmeet for this winter (we need something to plan for in this frigid weather)........so who's in and what weekend.........I'm thinking February at this point, we could meet and see a show or just go to lunch and then maybe walk around...........what do you think??

Thx to Izzi for the movie suggestion, I'll check into that........hope all are well..............:surfweb:
