7/18/10 Mickey's Baltic Ballyhoo Part 6

Thankyou all for your thoughts. Our selected kitten is needing a name change - currently it is called Mars Bar! Thinking Mars may be an option, but just don't know. Need to look at vaccinations, neutering etc. I thought 17 was a good age, but 20 is amazing - you must share the secret of longevity, especially if it relates to humans:rotfl:

Celestine

I like Mars Bar! :confused3 What color?

Secret to longevity: Eat when you want, but not people food (won't work for humans!); be sure all housemates know you are Alpha; decide what you want and go after it (including a new home and family). That about sums up Miss Spot. :cloud9: Oh yeah -- have a push-over in charge of your care!

Andrew,

Before we get caught up in what seems like endless paperwork and packing, I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for all the suggestions and tips you posted that helped us to plan this cruise. Your help has been invaluable and your humor (along with Robert's -- shhhhh, don't let him hear it as his head is swelled enough) has really made this thread a happy place to be. I can tell how proud you are of your home and we are prepared to love London as well.

So again, I thank you. :flower3:

Sandy,

An FE doesn't have to be elaborate at all. I've seen fancy ones, and I've seen rooms that hung a small cloth tote bag from the fish. :rotfl2::rotfl2: If you can come up with a bag-like object - you've got an FE!!!!!!:yay:

I agree, even a plastic bag that has a handle that can go around the fish would do.

If you already have the FE gifts to hand out I would suggest staying in:thumbsup2

Thank you so so much for those kind words, and I hope in a little way, I have helped your vacation and your limited time in our country. Over the time on this thread for our upcoming cruise and over my years posting on these Dissboards, I have gained many many friends, and met so many nice people, many with a great sense of humour, (And Robert).
Its so nice that whilst we can be thousands of miles away we can have a conversation and share ideas and organise a trip of a lifetime.
A lovely post like this means the world to me, Yes I am passionate about London and England, I have lived here all my life, my Dad used to take me on *trains* down London from a very early age, and we would walk around the city, and I got to know it by second nature. I cant get lost in London, and have as a geek, been to all Tube stations bar 5 (4 opened recently), and a lot of the mainline rail, and when in the past there wasn’t a congestion charge drove all over London. I now take my son on *trains* over weekends, and my work involves me travelling all over the Greater London area, and thats still interesting.
I do not know the famous person who made this quote, but it goes, A person who is tiered of London is tired of Life.
As you all know, not everyone is always pleased by the frank honest way that I post, I have the best of intensions to tell it as it is, and be honest, but one or two do not agree, I am dropping off the Disbaords from the 18th. I will post my cruise photos on my facebook account, and a trip report there, and then look forward to RCCL in 2011.
I might book a DCL cruise in 2012, if they go where I expect them to go, we shall see at the end of September.
May everyone have a fantastic cruise and vacation you are all lovely people. (Inc Robert).

Out of curiosity, how come?

Yeah, how come Andrew?:confused3

I am not going into too many details as there is still a little time to resolve this, but I have now booked three DCL tours on the website as a contingency, and may do them instead.

Its something and nothing really, something that could have been sorted out in about 5 mins, but now two days later, i am not even getting responses to emails, and a feel a slight attitude.

Basically, I sent a payment to Russia to cover the full cost of the private tours and a 15% tip!!, The Russian Bank wants a little more detail, or they will send the payment back which will cost me a lot in exchange rate loss and the payment cost.

Rather than answer the question the response was, well it will be sent back and you will have to pay another way.

Possibly it looses a bit in translation but, if I do not get an answer by 9am Wednesday my Bank will return the payment, but my emails go unanswered.

Just checked London temps for time around our cruise. Cooler than normal but no rain. So I'm thinking pants and a light jacket for eve. Maybe capris. But then again, it is a week or so away and sometimes they can't predict weather for the next day, never mind 2 weeks away. :confused3 I guess that sure beats the 100 degrees F we have outside right now. Thank God for central air, but I feel badly for those without AC and for the animals. :sad1:

Only take it as a guide at the moment, Five days forward is about it for us at the moment and its a daytime high of 22c >25 each day to Sunday 11th, light rain Thursday thats it,

Positive Weather solutions who make good accurate forecasts have said Sunny weather continues, they predicted a long hot summer in April, and the UK will have a water shortage. In fact they say we will have lower than average rainfall for all bar two months to December.

Plan for anything, be pleased if it continues to be sunny, we had a Wimbledon which was totally uninterrupted for rain this year!!

Hey all, catching up after a busy 4th of July weekend. Got it with a heat wave for Michigan 90-95 degrees with humidity :cool2::cool1:

Had to go check on my cabin number. #6089 would be us. Even though I have FE gifts, I don't have a FE so I think I'll bow out of the FE gift exchange. I actually probably have enough "gifts" for all on our chat list so I will just hand them out either on Ballyhoo Bus #2 and or at the DIS meet on the 19th. Thanks for adding me, but please delete me from the FE exchange. I got my hometown PC so we are definitely in for that! ;)

I was thinking of signing our PC's with our DIS board name and then putting an address label with our email or home address on it in case anybody wanted to keep up correspondence after the cruise :confused3 Looks like I'm not the only one with that idea::idea:

Boy I'm glad we're on a DCL excursion....they'll be the ones that have to adjust the timing then:eek:

We are on the Stockholm with Sigtuna lunch excursion as well. Good think they're not cutting out lunch on this one as it is a major part of the tour :lmao:

Hi Sandy,

Just hang a bag outside of your cabin and call it your FE! You already have your gifts to give out and many of us have already gotten something for you.

Monica

Thank you Monica,

I am going to have to get a big round of drinks in on the cruise,

(Charge it to Robert);)

But every one has been so nice,

From the FE to the Coaches, to hosting the main thread, to the Kids Thread, to booking packages for the Eye and Porters, everyone has done a bit.

At let us recall who was here at the start but cant cruise with us, for whatever reason, many contributed at the start, Julie, Sally, Mike, and Izzie, who made part 1 go so so quickly...:rotfl:

Hi Andrew,

Have you checked with any of the other tour agencies? Before I joined in with others I had some correspondence with SPB Tours and they seemed great. They were very prompt. Maybe they can accommodate you even though it is last minute.
