7/18/10 Mickey's Baltic Ballyhoo Part 6

On the UK Boards and Disneyland Paris boards at least one Mod has changed post(s) that may potentially cause some offence to certain groups. And given warnings for it. Even if it wasn't 'willful'.

With many European DCL cruises attracting a large community of cruisers from many diverse groups, its a *suggestion*.

In the UK, and Europe, its the Law in some cases.

But as you put it, a UK based Mod on the cruise boards would only be there to correct people's wrongs and I was just saying that some people would object to that.

DH is sitting with his head in his hands:rotfl: He's sharing his love for all 70 or so of us, and will swap onto bus 1 at Park Plaza County Hall. This was one way of collecting all the money and ensuring we collect everyone - well that's the theory anyway!

If there are any surplus funds the Costco run may stretch to croissants or something for those on the early shift (& I include our party in that statement!)

DH has been working on putting together suitable music for the trip to port which means that he will have finished his "tour guide Paul" commentary of London sites & daft facts you never knew you need to know!

If anyone on the bus (or thinks they are on the bus) hasn't had an e-mail from us, please let us know - coordinating 3 coaches, 1 MPV & a car makes for an interesting time

Celestine

Thank you again Celestine, Andrew has been telling me how HOT it is in London so stay Cool !

As I've been following along, reading about all that you guys are going to see and do (that I don't get to see and do! :sad1:) is it me, or does it seem much more complicated, planning these cruises, compared to a Caribbean cruise?
It has felt more complicated planning our Alaska cruise...and the excursions are really expensive!!

Oh....and also.....is someone going to be doing a "Live From" trip report?? Please say yes!!

No thats not the position, I spend a lot less time here now, and plan to stop completely in July, but there are changes that are noticeable.

A year or so back, -talking UK time here, there wouldn't be any posts on this forum from 8am to 12 noon at all, the last people of West coast USA ended about 8am, Captain Crash and TV GUY I know posted late, or early for me.

I could go out for four hours and no changes at all.

Now that time is actually rather active, you see people post from USA, Holland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, as well as the UK, DCL cruises are expanding and they are no longer just USA.

So -and again I just would like to remind this was a thought, and open mind quote, a Mod covering from Europe can cover late USA posts and early UK, ones, and I wouldn't say ''correct people's wrongs'' they are not my words, but rephrase, or adjust any comment that potentially could be taken the wrong way.

Whilst I do not feel its willful in any way, there are a number of comments that can cause upset, PM's to me, even from the great people of Canada feel the same but just in the main have to laugh it away.

Peoples cultures are different, now I am not sure if its correct but in a UK Newspaper today it said ladies feeding babies the natural way can have action taken against them for indecency in some USA states, UK we are more flexible on the natural way, but on the other hand any politically incorrect words would have an on screen apology in seconds and repeated on our TV.

Anyway a suggestion to support diversification.

It was 30c in London, 40c on the Tube but now cooling down.

Have fun you 2 I dont want to get in the way of your serious relationship!

I wonder if their Husbands Know?:scared1:popcorn::

Of course they are aware of our serious cruise planning relationship. They even know we are all booked on 2 cruises together.

Yes these cruises are much more involved and complicated. With centuries of history to see it's hard to pick what to see and do, especially not knowing what the weather will be like. Plus there's the different currencies and exchange rate fluxuation to worry about. :headache:

No 'live from...' report from me, but then you expected that comment.

Sure who am I to question your alternative lifestyle!:upsidedow:lmao::3dglasses:rotfl:
5 hours later & that was the best you could come up with!

If there is any phrasing that is incorrect or that could be taken the wrong way in other countries then those that notice the comments should report the posts to the mods/webmasters with an explination as to why it's being reported and it can be handled appropriately.
If you are getting PM's on these posts either report the posts yourself or tell the poster that is PM'ing you to report it so it can be handled. That's the appropriate way to handle such things. It doesn't matter where the mod's/webmasters are from, if we are not educated in phrases that are not appropriate overseas then some people will be frustrated seeing such items in posts.
Thanks,

It doesn't matter how many hours later if this is the first I've been on here since you posted that. :flower3:
That alternative lifestyle of vacation planning...I'm sure you know that same lifestyle. :upsidedow

With some input from DW!:thumbsup2

Hows it feel to be #2? Bus #2 that is!:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::laughing:popcorn::

Doesn't what bus number we are on as long as we get to the port safely.

Bus Number Two is only there so that they can help when Bus Number One breaks down.
:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I bet you're darn glad I'm not on your bus....let alone your cruise. ;)
I'm actually kinda fun.

I will say that for the Panama Canal cruise, we only had 3 months to plan, so we went with all DCL excursions, but I'd say that yes, this is harder to plan for. Other cruises haven't been as port intensive and where you want to see EVERYTHING! There's the language to deal with, the currencies, etc. Trying to decide if you want to DIY or private excursions or Disney excursions!
I'm not sure if my Andrew will be doing a "live" blog or not like he did on the Canal cruise. We'll let you know if he does!

:headache: I was trying to not think about the language barriers.

There will be no talk of bus breakdowns....that's a bad thought. :sad2:

Actually you are very fun, especially after a margarita or 2. :drinking1 :rotfl2: :rolleyes1 :scared1: :upsidedow :flower3:

This must mean our DH's trust us! They know that our serious planning relationship is a good one!
