EEEEEEE! OK, we made an offer today on VWL resale and are waiting to hear back. :bounce: :Pinkbounc It's only taken us 5 years to get to this point.

We could not decide between BC and VWL so we decided to split our points between the two, but I have a question that hadn't occurred to me.

When I make reservations at the 11 month window, is it true I can only make them up to the number of points I have at that particular resort??? Please, tell me it ain't so!

We are the 2-bedroom types and wanted the 11-month window so we had an opportunity to go at around Christmas, but we'd need more points for that than what we've budgeted for either contract.

I'd appreciate your info and insights!

sad to say that you can only use your home resort points to book at 11 months out. If you wanted to use points from both contracts you'd have to book 7 months out....

If you split your points across two different resorts, then you can only book each resort with the amount of credits in that account.

Example: You buy 150 points at BCV and 150 at VWL... you cannot combine the two for a 300 point reservation made at the 11 month window.

What you can do... is bank and borrow several years credits in either account. So for example... you could book a 2005 reservation at VWL for 450 points using your 2004 banked points, 2005 regular UY points, and 2006 borrowed points... all from your 150 point VWL contract.

I debated doing this to get home resort booking advantages at more than one resort. I decided against it, in case we wanted to book something like a 2 week reservation in a GV... which would require a lot of points.

Thank you Stephanie and Jim for your replies! I feel better after hearing the banking/borrowing strategy. I'm too new to have figured that one out on my own, I think.

OK, so the NEW news is EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
I found out today our offer was accepted and soon (barring a disappointing ROFR decision) we will be DVC members. We bought our first 200 points at the VWL. We stayed at Wilderness Lodge 5 years ago and loved the cozy, warm feel. The VWL were not yet built. We're still looking for BCV points as well because our boys are growing up and might like the hub-bub of being closer to the action and having SAB.

I'm so happy, I could fly, I could fly, I could FLYYYYYYYYYY!

Does anyone have any links to pics of VWL you'd be kind enough to share?

We too bought VWL sight unseen after having spent a couple of trips at WL and loving it. You will really enjoy VWL as it carries the WL theming right on over to the DVC villas.

And here's a link to some VWL photos! http://allearsnet.com/acc/g_wlv.htm

By the way, we own at VWL and BWV and do exactly as FLYNZ4 indicates....we bank one contract each year and borrow on the other. This works well since the contracts are virtually the same number of points each. That way, we are making our entire reservations at the 11 month window...no problem!

Good luck on your resale...let us know when you clear Disney's ROFR and close on your contract! :)

Wow Granny, sounds like Shellybird is a potential "my beloved Wilderness Lodge" kind of gal!

I hope your offer makes it past ROFR! Keep us posted  .

We've purchased several add ons over the years; I've found juggling the smaller contracts and making reservations do-able but requiring time consuming long range planning and I love the trip planning. Originally (1994-2000) we'd make several trips per year as our son was younger and missing school wasn't a major issue and we could avoid premier season. For the past two years we've been booking Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter times with extended family so needing grand villa+. Each time we've had to wait til 7 month window to use non-home resort points, booking piecemeal usually requiring waitlisting parts and backing up reservations at other resorts.
Our family loves OKW and SSR has many of the same qualities/amenities we look for so we decided to go the resale route and added on at OKW to our original contract and use year and we've purchased at SSR and plan to sell our two smaller add ons at BCV and VB so we have enough home resort points when and where we want to stay -- hopefully no more pins and needles waiting for the waitlist and tracking multiple reservations.
