6x6 scrapbook for autograph book?

Thank so much! TJ won't see it until the morning we leave when he opens his care package! My kids don't know about their trip in 37 days! It'll be their first time. I am channeling all my nervous excitement through my crafting!

I'll post pictures of Mally's once I finish it! Hers is going to be Tink.

You are much better at keeping secrets than we are! DH slipped sometime back, so the kids found out that we are going over Thanksgiving week. We have the countdown on the calendar. DD's teacher knows and would like for me to take her out of school early that day. Can't say that I blame her. how are you keeping it secret????

Mally and TJ will love their books. My two both want every page I make, so I am having to make duplicates. DS's only stipulation is that there not be too much pink.

BuzzBelleMom... My son is a BEAR when it comes to anticipation! He'll ask "how much more longer?" for something weeks away... Whenever we have a fun day planned, we rarely tell the kids where we are going! It's fun to have them sit and make guesses. They often say, "Disney??" and then chuckle afterwards, b/c they know darn well that's not where they are going! This time it's going to be a HOOT!

I'm still not sure how we'll tell them... we have to get them out of bed by 3:30am to get on the road by 4am (we're an hour and half from the airport and our flight is at 7:30am!).... they are going to be totally disoriented. We'd like for them to open their care packages on the plane and have them find out then.

By the way, I ended up using Modge Podge on the cover after I painted it. Then after it was fully dried, I used it to glue down the paper. I don't know if Modge Podge is acid free, but I figured it would be fine since it won't have contact with any pictures.

Amy,

The Buzz cover came out beautiful! TJ will love it and I bet he gets a lot of attention from the characters when he gets his autographs. Looking forward to seeing Mally's as well.

What did you print out for the inside pages? I am sure you did a great job on those as well.

I think it is great that you are surprising them with their first trip. I wish we could've done that, but, I needed DS11 to be my accomplice in defeating DH.

Amy, that is so funny! DD and DS will be going on the plane in their jammies. Our flight is at 7pm. We get into Orlando at midnight. Your kids will love the surprise!

Here are some of my pages for our autograph books:

Thank you, guys! I'd love to see what you all have done as well!

BuzzBelleMom, your pages are great!

My inside pages aren't decorated, yet. I may add some notions to the Mickey and Minnie pages.... and maybe some other pages for characters that I KNOW we'll see b/c of the dinners we have booked. Otherwise, I will keep them plane and I will embellish them when I get home and add the pictures.

So far, I only cut colored paper (to correlate to the appropriate character) and distressed the edges. I chose red for Mickey and Minnie, blue for Cinderella, brown for Chip and Dale, etc. In the back, I added some neutral colors for characters I may have forgotten or ones that I didn't think we'd actually see.

I'm not totally decided, but I think I will mount white on top of the colored paper for the actual signing. Only, a silver pen would look really cool on the dark colors....

Anyone know of fatter markers that are acid free? I wanted to get the fat Sharpies, but I don't think they can be acid free. I've read on other posts that the charcters have an easier time if you use fat markers.

I was at joanns today looking for a small spiral book and I found one. They were $6.99 but they wrang up 50% off. So I got them for $3.50 each. :cheer2:

BuzzBelleMom -- your pages are beautiful! You're going to get lots of comments, I'm sure!

Thanks for the comments, Sherri and Amy! I am having so much fun, that I am thinking of making a couple for some friends who are going in January.

I'd love to see anyone else's! Did anyone else decide to do a 6x6 spiral, too?

The only downfall of them, I see so far, is that after I added cardstock to each page for the characters to sign, it's quite heavy!!

That is so lovely! Its not fair, you're all going and I'm not

I had an idea though for the pen problem. How about using the regular thick scrapbooking pens but adding a thicker grip round the barrel - something like pipe insulator might work. I thought of that because the pens we bought from DISstore had a spongy thick bit to hold.

Sherri,

That cover is ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish I had thought to put the date. Oh well............

That is fantastic that you did the date! I plan to put a copy of the little letter/poem that the kids will open the morning we leave telling them we're going, into the cover of the book. I will have to remember to put the date there, at least!

So neat, please all be sure to share how you finish them, too!

Thank you. I printed the cover out on photo paper. Now, I have to find good quality paper to print the actual pages on. I bought some cardstock at Walmart and the pictures/writing don't look very good on that paper - very dull looking and kinda blurry. I would prefer to not use matte photo paper due to the expense. Trying to figure out what to do... :confused3

It sounds like you did digital images for the pages that will actually get signed, too? I'm not sure what to suggest as far as paper goes.

I am a Bazzill addict. I am fond of the cardstock made by DCWV... their cardstock can be sold by the sheet or by the pad. I have all the pads they currently have. They sell printed paper in pads as well.... I particularly love the textured cardstock (great for distressing with sandpaper b/c of it's white core). I used this paper for each of the pages that the characters will sign. I have Galaxy Markers (made by American Crafts). They are like Gel pens (only markers). The look great on colored cardstock.

I plan to embellish the pages with the signatures with a little bit of accents. I did a page for Ariel already with foamie flowers and sea shaped plants on the bottom of the page. For Cinderella I put some punched flowers with eyelets in the middle of them... I have a crown stamp that I will add to some of the princess pages, too...

If the kids get too many signatures, I'm not sure what I'll do! I may just need to add tags tied into the spiral to coorespond with the proper signature. The book is pretty bulked up already with the cardstock on both sides of each of the 20 pages.

I'll have to decide the outcome of the book after we get home, I guess! Being a planner, this is a challenge! LOL

Sherrie, I have been getting my DCWV cardstock at JoAnn's. The 12x12 pads are $19.99 each, so I save my coupons for them. I will try to take a picture of the pages and what the pads look like if you'd like. If you just bought the white (it is sold loose with the cardstock as well), you could cut the sheets in quarters and put through the printer. The texture is really nice.

I'll try to post back pictures of the paper tonight.

I love your digital pages! Especially, b/c it says "Daniel's First Trip to Disney World"....
