Took it years ago for my own sake. I had no tax, accounting or finance background whatsoever. It was well taught and informative and relatively cheap. Others in my class were offered employment. I wasn't but was working full time anyway.

good luck!

I also took the course years ago. I felt that it was worth every penny. I'm sure everything is now animated now too. I was also offered employment but took a job with another private company.

Hi! I took the class last year, completed it and was offered a job. I took the job and spent last season as a Tax Advisor. It wasn't real lucrative for me last year because I could not work very often. I only worked Saturdays.

My mom is also a HR Block Tax Advisor (she's been at it for 4 years) and her hourly rate is right around $20/hour. Not bad for part-time employment.

The class is pretty labor (homework) intensive. It's not hard, but you really do have to put time into it. You have to have an 80% average in the class to be offered a job. It is all done long hand in the class (no computers), but when you work for Block it is all done on computers. They just want to make sure you know how to prepare the taxes without the computer.

Go for it!! It is a fun and very flexible part time job.

I took the class many years ago. I really enjoyed the class because there were only 7 of us. The instructor had a lot of time to answer everyone's questions. I learned a lot! Unfortunately the outcome of me taking the class----I went to work for my DH. At that time he worked May thru Dec with his Dad in his Dad's pawn shop and electronic store. January thru April he was doing taxes with the rapid refunds. That was 13 years ago and we are still at. We still have the pawn shop and electronic store. Have since added a music supply store and the tax business has turned into an almost all year job. Somedays I feel like a yoyo running from one place to another.

And just think----all of this started by DH taking an H&R Block course himself almost 15 years ago!

Sorry I went into so much detail, but this is the outcome of my taking the class!!!!!!!

How much is the class and where is it offered? Or where can I find this info?

You can go to hrblock.com to find out where it's offered near you. The price last year was $250. You can get $50 off if you know someone who works for H & R Block. I could send you a $50 off form if you decide to move forward.
