DVCnews is reporting that the members who bought their contracts at Disneyland will have a 60 day period to purchase at VGC before the rest of us will be able to purchase!

They sure stuck us with this one didn't they?

?
DVC has been fairly public selling that "advantage" for a while (in order to move a bunch of AKV and SSR) At least that is what I've been hearing reading these boards..

1. This has never happened before. It did not matter where a contract was purchased.

2. The disney-spread rumor back in October, 2007 was for a two week priority.

3. This is the first anti-resale favoritism.

just curious: how is it anti resale favoritism?

It's been stated here on the boards numerous times, for quite a while, that those purchasing DVC at DL were getting first crack at purchasing GCV . There have been people that put off buying until they went to DL so they could get that advantage. So it's not new information, but as previously posted, may be a new policy.

And I agree -- what does that have to do with resale?

true, contracts bought through Disney at WDW are in the same boat as resale..

With the economy like it is, I don't see a 60 day head start for California buyers being that big of a deal. I believe there will be plenty of points available at day 61 and beyond. JMO

ITA! :thumbsup2

The advantage for California DVC buyers used to make me mad but after seeing various threads about how disinterested most DVC'rs are in GC DVC, I am not as worried or mad about it. I think the number of GC points that will be available are similar to the points available for the first phase of AK (the Jambo house units not Kidani). Those didn't sell out until over a year after they started and that was after DVC members had first shot, and then the public. I think there will be plenty of points for DVC GC to go around for all of existing DVC members regardless of where we bought our points!

I agree. There will be plenty of points available on day 61 and beyond. This is the tail end of the offer made by DVC to those who bought AKV or SSR at DL. I have no problem with it. IF it sells out in 60 days, DVC will build three more there quickly as that would be an incredible sales record even in a strong economy, which we are currently not enjoying.

60 days is not a fact is it?

We purchased SSR from DL DVC in Jan. We received a separate addendum in our contract that we signed stating we had an opportunity to be VGC Founding Members. It states that we will be given a 'Founding Member pre-sale opportunity' and will be notified 90 days prior to the general public offering, and have an opportunity to purchase 60 days prior to the public offering. There is a chance that the DVC membership will have an opportunity to buy somewhere in between...

That seems to imply then that the rest of us will be given a 30 day window then, prior to it going on sale to the general public.

I personally don't mind the 60 day window, because I too believe with the soft economy that there will be plenty available for those of us without the Founding Member status. Now if only one of you Founding Members will tell the rest of us when you are notified at the 90 day mark - I'd be happy.

I'll be sure to post :thumbsup2

At the time of the member event in CA, everyone was at a fever pitch to buy into VGC. Most all agreed that Founding Members would buy up all the points. Even DVC CM's thought so. With the real estate market we now have here in CA, I don't think VGC will sell as fast as first thought. There are 3 foreclosures on my street alone.

IMO....there will be plenty of points left over at day 60. With this economy....I don't think people should feel the need to "rush" to buy CRV points when available either.

a person who wants to get this perk MUST buy from DVC. Up until now it was often stated that resale purchasers were treated EXACTLY THE SAME as ALL those who bought from DVC. That is no longer true.

who made the statement that resale purchasers were treated exactly the same? the only time I've seen that statement it's from timeshare resellers enticing people to buy from them rather than directly from Disney.

You are right in that, it was the timeshare resellers who said that! :thumbsup2

I misunderstood and thought you were saying DISNEY had told you this.

In some ways the resales are NOT being treated differently--they are in the same boat as any other DVC member who did buy their membership in the last few months at Disneyland . .. . . .

Right now, not in the past, anyone who wants this "Buy VGC First" perk can not buy resale. They can buy, (carefully from the right location , I agree) from DVC and get this perk.

I think this means purchasing a resale is no longer the same as buying from DVC.
