Hi all,

In little more than a year, we will be visiting WDW for the second chance at a first time visit. First time at WDW it was just me and my husband and it ended in disaster (link to the story in my signature). This time we are planning ahead. Now that I know we have to book our dining 6 months out, we will be ready when it is time.

4 adults: me, my husband, and my two adult sons (in their 20s). We are going from March 10, 2018 to March 16, 2018--6 days. I have 5 day park hoppers, so we will take one day off midway from the parks to rest weary feet and take it easy. We will probably dine at one of the resorts that day. So I'm looking for some recommendations for at least days, up to 6.

We will be staying at Wyndham Bonnet Creek. Most of our breakfasts will there before we get to the park, but I plan to fit one nice breakfast in. We are not using a dining plan. Here's what I've planned so far (in no particular order to visit):

Breakfasts:
1. 1900 Park Fare

Lunches:
1. Be our Guest
2. Hollywood Brown Derby
3. ?
4. ?
5. ?

Dinners:
1. Ohana
2. Boma
3. 50s Prime Time maybe
4. ?
5. ?

Anyone have any recommendations for the blanks? We may fit in a 6th day, but there will be days we leave in the afternoon for a break, and we'll prolly get dinner on the cheap before heading back. Thanks so much!

There is no such thing as a second chance at a first time visit. It is an oxymoron. I would think you are planning your second trip, first long visit to WDW. :-)
Epcot is our favorite park for eating, and I see that you do not have any ADR's planned there.
I would strongly suggest that you take a look at the menus here on the DIS and also on allears.net and see which cuisine's appeal to you. On a 7 night trip we often eat 4 or 5 dinners in WS.
We particularly like Spice Road Table in Morocco, Rose & Crown Pub in the UK, San Angel Inn in Mexico, Teppan Edo in Japan, and Biergarden in Germany

We love Ohana, BOG and 1900.. Good choices there ;)

Some of our other faves are
Trattoria al Forno on the Boardwalk, Via Napoli at Epcot. We are also suckers for Trails End buffet lol can't go wrong with a buffet

Oh and how could I forget the best Disney experience there is... The Hoop dee doo Revue show! Great food and entertainment! A must do for a "first timer" IMO

Have a blast!!!

Suggestions for Lunch: Liberty Tree Tavern, Columbia Harbour House
Dinner: Teppan Edo, Hoop Dee Doo Review if you're looking to see a show too.

We like Coral Reef at Epcot...it is one of the quietest restaurants, and we love watching the fish swim inside the aquarium, it's really cool. We also like Crystal Palace because it's right by the fireworks, so we can just finish dinner and then get a spot to watch them. The buffet is always good. The restaurant in Mexico is really awesome, the atmosphere is one of our favorites. Boma and Ohana are our "go to" restaurants for spectacular food and atmosphere.

I almost always suggest Ohana for breakfast or dinner, but you've already got that!
1900 Park Fare is cute! Lots of characters (not sure the boys are going to vibe with that!)

Like other users, I really enjoyed Rose & Crown (great atmosphere for Illuminations!)

If you don't want Table Service for every meal, some quick service suggestions might be a good idea....

Magic Kingdom:
Cosmic Ray's (I swear this doesn't get enough love. Its super fun, great selection!)
Pecos Bill (Tex-Mex food, really cute but sometimes crowded. The fixin's bar is SO worth it)
Casey's Corner (This is a personal favorite of mine, I end up going every time I head to the World. Who can resist Footlong hot dogs??)

Epcot:
Sunshine Seasons (LOVE LOVE LOVE this one. Quick Service in The Land, its nice, cool and the food is fresh! Refreshing from burgers and fries)
Katsura Grill (Japanese, really beautiful outdoor area to eat in. Food is super reasonable and delicious)
La Cantina de San Angel (GORGEOUS views of WS Lagoon, food is really great! Another repeat every trip for me)

Hollywood Studios:
Backlot Express (Pretty good, if you're not at the ToT area for lunch/quick dinner)

Animal Kingdom:
Restaurantosaurus (I love the atmosphere in this place. Its quirky and clever, and a great place to rest for a while in AK)
Pizzafari (Pizza and Italian food, need I say more?)
Yak & Yeti (I've heard great things about this quick service Yak & Yeti I'll be going there for my first time soon!)

I hope some of this helps!

Some of the other people who replied are right. Don't expect every meal to be a table service meal (unless you're on the Deluxe Dining Plan). It can bust your budget very quickly, and, honestly, it's too much food. My family of 5 (three teenagers) went to BoG for dinner, and we ended up splitting 3 appetizers, 3 entrees, and 3 desserts. We still needed wheelbarrows to carry us out of there.

Scatter a few counter service meals. They're smaller, they eat quicker, they're cheaper, they don't require reservations, and you could find a few hidden gems along the way. One hungry afternoon, we stumbled across Columbia Harbour House (where did the 'u' in "Harbour" come from?). We walked in, not knowing what to expect, and left finding a new favourite (pun intended) spot in MK. Something about New England style fare just hits my warm spot.

Tip about counter service meals: if you don't want the sides that come with an order, ask the person taking your order to remove them. Generally, it will also result in a couple of dollars taken off your bill.

The other nice thing about counter service: you don't have to pre-plan them, so you can let your nose guide you to your next meal. "Oh my goodness, that smells SOOOOOOO good!" can be a rallying cry for the next bite of food :D

MK - I would do BOG for dinner instead of lunch. We also like LTT for lunch and Tony's for either lunch or dinner.

Epcot - CR for either lunch or dinner. Tutto for lunch. Chefs or LC for dinner.

DHS - 50's PTC for dinner.

AK - Rainforest Cafe for lunch. Boma at AKL for dinner.

We love Via Napoli and Le Cellier. For a quick service meal, the Fish and Chips place in England is great too! I haven't personally been, but I have heard good things abou the Grand Floridian Cafe as well.

Have fun!

The Hoop dee doo is one that I have been eyeing. It may very well get on the list. Thanks!

Oh yeah...Actually, I am planning on a good bit of the remaining choices to be quick service. I'm absolutely looking for quick service recommendations! I do plan to leave a few open places for the Epcot countries to try some places on the fly as well!

Thanks! :)

Look around, check Google for things like "Best counter service in Epcot" or stuff like that. Also realize they're all subjective. One family's favorite is another family's worst. Look at the Disney website for the counter service restaurants. See what kinds of cuisine the different places serve, and go with what's interesting. Worst case, as I said before, let your nose guide you.

As a fellow Californian, you probably have access to good Mexican places. But in our visit in January, I was blown away by how good Frontera Cocina was. Can't wait to go back, and that's unusual for me to go back so soon - other than Boma, of course.
I've also heard really good things about Homecoming and Tiffins, but we won't get to try those for ourselves until our trip this September.

I think that in DS, Homecomin is my new favorite. It was delicious food and the beverages were outstanding. I would have had more than two but I am a lightweight when it comes to holding my alcohol!

On the Boardwalk I like Tratorria al Forno. It is reasonable priced, and is delicious. The servers are knowledgeable and professional.

I am going to toss a monkey wrench in the 'Ohana ADR. I think that it is one of the most overrated overpriced restaurants in WDW lately. I would choose 'Ohana breakfast over dinner any time.

1900 PF dinner is going to be a blast with your sons! The Tremaine Family will have a field day with them.

Sanaa is a favorite of my family. It is reasonable priced and gives a reason to visit the AKL property. YOu could explore the main lodge either before or after dinner. It is worth the trip on DAK day.

In Epcot we like Rose & Crown.

CS restaurants are really good throughout the World. We like Columbia Harbor House in the MK, Flame Tree BBQ in DAK, Tangerine Café and Sunshine Seasons in Epcot, and Backlot express in DHS.

Thanks for all the great recommendations. I'm excited to hear that the 1900 pf will be a lot of fun. I have heard mixed results about Ohana, and if it weren't that we love pan asian cuisine so much, we prolly wouldn't give it a spot on our list.

Thank you,

I agree with the previous poster about 'Ohana, it was good but if you want amazing bread pudding go to Raglan Road! I think that was my downfall for 'Ohana, we have been to Raglan Road before we tried 'Ohana and the desserts do not compare. Plus, Raglan Road has good entertainment along with the great food.

We are trying Homecoming next trip because the food and reviews there have been great.

I also say try getting Be Our Guest for dinner instead of lunch also, we have had both and the dinner is really good. We all had the steak and it was yummy.

In Epcot one of our favorite quick service is Tangerine Cafe, large portions and good too.

Homecoming was fabulous when we tried it last week. Also given the age of your sons and if you drink alcohol I would suggest that you consider trying a few of the more interesting cocktail bars, which was a favorite of our 21 year old daughter. Jock's in Disney Springs and Abracadabar on the Boardwalk had great atmosphere and drinks. Friends tells us that the newer bar at the Polynesian is fabulous but has long waits (Trader Sam's maybe?), we didn't try that one.
