6/29/15 Magic to Norway & Iceland

Hi Everyone!:wave2:
We booked this opening day and are traveling with a whole bunch of people we have met through Disney (ABD & DCL)
Looking forward to getting to know everyone! I just sent my request to join the FB group which is where I will be most active.:thumbsup2
This cruise will be our 18th DCL cruise.
It is myself, Steph my husband Mike and our 13 year old son Julian

I'm a few ahead of my family, too. It will be my first platinum cruise, but unfortunately cruise #10 is within a few months of Iceland so I won't have the booking benefits. We get two rooms, so it probably wouldn't help me out too much anyway.

This is me exactly :) My 10th cruise will be in April 2015 so I don't get to benefit from being Platinum for the check in date for this cruise. Oh well, there are worse things in the world, right? DH and DS are Gold, however I think I'm up 4 on them and boy, they don't let me forget it! :rotfl2:

Welcome to all the new group members!

Thanks!

One of these days I'll try to make my way over to the Facebook page ... but at moment my nephews don't know we're planning this (nor does the extended family) and I would hate for the "secret" to get out by one of them seeing a Facebook post. (The boys often look over my shoulder at photos and such.)

I thought of creating a dummy account, but that just seems silly since I have a perfectly good FB account already.

If you don't mind my asking, is there any chatter about adding a stay in Disneyland Paris post cruise? This is something we're thinking about doing. Likely a pre-day in Copenhagen for Tivoli as well.

I would too like any information about getting to Disneyland Paris after this fantasic cruise. With the cost of airfare, we would like to do as much as possible before flying home.

Welcome to the DISboards!

I would too like any information about getting to Disneyland Paris after this fantasic cruise. With the cost of airfare, we would like to do as much as possible before flying home.

This was our thinking as well ... we'll be so close, how can we NOT spend a few days at a new-to-us Disney park? :)

I've started a few threads on the DLP Board (transportation from Dover), Canadian Board (what Canadian DISers have experienced at DLP), and DVC Board (using points at DLP) ... there is some good info on each of them. Links below, hopefully you'll find them useful.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3299896

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3288448

If anyone has any other advice / info to share about DLP, please do! (It's kind of funny, but since we will likely do our cruise excursions through DCL, I'm currently spending more time on the pre-and-post-cruise details than the cruise itself!!)

We've been to DLP (although 10 years ago).... if you can swing it, stay on the club level at the DL Hotel...

GOOD MORNING LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, BOYS AND GIRLS! WE SET SAIL IN 50 WEEKS! THAT IS 350 DAYS!
:banana::banana::banana:
madicdcl_zpsc21d6c0d.jpg

Greetings! I hope to join this cruise and the one before when there are more openings - after final payments and hopefully by then I'll have enough money. I absolutely love your pictures!! Please keep posting them. I love the last one especially. I hope to hike to Pulpit Rock in 5 weeks. You see I had given up on Disney going to Norway/Baltics so I booked a HAL cruise BUT I love Disney so hopefully I can do it again on Disney next Summer. I would love to join your FB page but I'm tech challenged - forgive me! I have a Facebook page - when I go to your page do I just ask to join????

I leave August 8 for Amsterdam and will return on Sept. 7 as it is a 28 day cruise. I will report on all the private excursions I take.

Epcot Kilter - Hi Debbie and Mom! I still think of you two every time I walk by the band on my way to work. I'm still working at Epcot - can retire this November but am really enjoying working the Frozen activities at DHS. The Sing-Along show is great as is the ice rink and of course the Premier Package is really good - I work it! Say "hi" to Mom for me. I still hear from Lin & Scott. I see Seaulter (Linda) is on the first cruise. Last Disney cruise was Alaska 2 years ago - super cruise.

I was so excited to see your name pop up!!! I think about you everytime we are in Epcot and I look for the wand people :) Hope you are able to make this cruise.

Enjoy your 28 days!!!

Debbie

Thank you. I will try to post weekly. I might have a few Mondays that I don't post depending on wifi availability when we are on the Wonder in Alaska in a couple of weeks and throughout our London/Paris Adventures by Disney trip in September.

How exciting that you get to be there soon! I am looking forward to reading about your experiences when you get back! I only had 4 people request to join the group today and was able to figure out which one was you. I have added you to the group. :welcome: aboard!

I've heard from DW that there was some disappointment expressed in FB that the Faroe Islands were replaced with Orkney. Others were just uninspired by Orkney's Neolithic offerings. For different reasons I have sought out alternative arrangements in Orkney as well. Just last summer we toured the archeological aspects of the island and it was the highlight of our trip. This time we plan on indulging our bird watching hobby and have just recently found a day guide for this endeavor. However, we had contacted several tour companies for alternatives to stones and ruins. Here are the details of tours, I believe to still be available, and different from the typical cruise excursion. Contact them if interested.

Thank You so much for your patience regarding the new tour we are putting together for 2015 which will focus on "Natural Orkney Aspects".
I am delighted to confirm that (at last !) we have had confirmation from the coach company that there is a suitable third vehicle available for July 8th 2015 and so we can now start marketing the tour.
The new tour will focus strongly on the natural environment of Orkney and provide our guests with the opportunity to view wildlife and bird life along our dramatic coastline making it a photographers dream!
We will also visit:-
The atmospheric Corrigal farm museum to see what life was like on a working farm over 100 years ago here in Orkney.
Barony Mill - the last working water mill in the islands which dates from 1872 and is still in operation today.
The Broch of Gurness - an intriguing Iron Age round tower and village (approx. 2000 years old), which is situated on a headland overlooking one of the most scenic views in Orkney.
Once again we will include a light lunch for our guests and there will be some time also to stroll around the small town of Kirkwall for maybe some shopping or a visit to the Orkney Museum.
There will be a maximum of 15 guests on the tour with a lower age limit of 12 years old (due to safety at the cliffs and inside the mill). The tour will be guided by Anne and she is really looking forward to sharing "Natural Orkney Aspects" with our guests
The cost for this tour will be £132 per person and this now includes the PayPal handling fee

We had Anne last year and she was phenomenal. Only reason we are not repeating is we wanted a bird only tour this time.

Thank you for contacting me about your visit next summer, I can give you a tour on the day the Disney Magic arrives. As you have been and seen some of the island I can make an enquiry about visiting Ness Battery and possibly Sheila Fleet Jewellery workshop and then include other areas you may not have seen but we have time to discuss what there is to see and do. I organise a lunch break during tour when you can sample local food and drink.
The tour is private so only yourselves to please, I meet you at your ship and return you to the ship at the end of the tour in plenty time for the on board time. My vehicle has lovely large windows to view the scenery as we drive around. The cost of the tour is £350.00 per day which does not include entry fees to sites, food or drink. Bottled water is supplied in the vehicle.

One more:

South Isles Splendour tour on Wednesday 8 July 2015. Tours are subject to availability at time of booking and availability is limited as we tour with maximum 8 guests.
Tour Highlights:

· Natural harbour of Scapa Flow - photo stop
· Churchill Barriers and Blockships - photo stop
· Inspiring Italian Chapel - guided tour
· Orkney Wine Company's traditional vintages - tasting & shopping
· Windwick Bay sea stack and seals - wildlife viewing & photo stop
· Picturesque village of St Margaret’s Hope - free time
· Outstanding vistas from Olad Brae - photo stop
· Home cooked Orkney lunch
Tour departs Quayside Hatston Pier at 10.45 and returns approx. 15.45 OR Palace Road, Kirkwall next to St Magnus Cathedral at 11.00 (Shuttle Buses run from Quayside to Kirkwall Town centre) and returns approx 15.30.
Tour price is £59.00 per person and includes transport in executive touring vehicle with panoramic windows, accredited professional Orkney driver-guide who provides onboard commentary and guides you through the sites, and VAT. There will be a stop for lunch at a restaurant or café. Please note that lunch is not included.

Hope this helps someone.

We are sorry to say that we will be unable to go on this remarkable cruise. Please remove us from the FE. Hopefully, since this cruise sold out quickly, Disney will offer it again in the future.:(:(

I am almost embarrassed to say that one of the best part about that first cruise to Venice was the various "gifts" that we kept getting in our room. I hope they are doing it again on this cruise.

Hi all! We just booked this cruise and we couldn't be more excited! Myself, my husband and our daughter (she will be 2 at time of cruise) are from NY and this will be our second Disney Cruise. We are cruising the Wonder in a couple of months for the Eastbound Panama Canal cruise. Now we just have to get around to finally watching Frozen...

We ended up booking an ocean view room without verandah. We just couldn't resist!
