6/29/15 Magic to Norway & Iceland

Made final payment today. pixiedust: We're super excited about this cruise!!

:mic: Party of 2 - Nicholas and Michael; Smoke Rise, GA (Near Stone Mountain/Atlanta). This will be our 19th Disney cruise. We're spending 2 days in Copenhagen in advance. Mike has some contacts in Norway and Iceland that we'll share info from if/when they respond. Happy to see we're cruising with some familiar disboarders again. :yay:

FE Info:
Cabin #: 1037

I need to update our signaure - new format doesn't like ours apparently. Plus we've lost a dog in the last 2 years and been to Tokyo DLR, taken 4 more cruises and bought more DVC. Sounds like an additiction.....haha.

We will be making our final payment tomorrow! I am getting so excited, it is going to be our Honeymoon(a year after, but we wanted to do this cruise).

I have a couple of questions and I hope someone will be able to help me.

1. We are going to DLP after the cruise and are taking the 10:58AM Eurostar from Ashford International to DLP. What would be the best way for us to get from the docks to the train station. I have sent a couple of emails to some transportation companies but have not heard back from anyone yet.

2. Does anyone know what they are going to do Entertainment wise for the extra days on the 11 Day cruise. What do they do typically on the longer cruises? I hope it is Frozen on and endless loop, with a "Let it go" talent contest...jk :)

3. With the overnight stay in Reykjavik will the dock be open the entire time, or will we have to be back onboard by a certain time the night it is docked?

4. The FE... how many people normally do this? I am very interested in doing this, but if it is going to be 100's of people that might be a little much. I saw these on the doors when we did the Dream last year and there seemed to be quite a lot of them.

Thanks you in advance for any help.

Well I can answer some of these!

1. I really do not know, but I know some friends are using a company called International Friends as transportation for a variety of locations

2. Well... they usually will bring on other entertainers to fill in the time. We do know that there will be a Frozen theme. There will be a Frozen deck party instead of a Pirate Party. Disney Cruise Line did announce recently some of the Frozen theming for our cruise

3. Nope open all night. You can come and go as you please! And with it not getting dark, it will be kewl!

4. There are usually groups. Not sure what was agreed on, but usually no more than 20 rooms, but it could be 15 (I forget!)

Welcome! And Happy Honeymoon!!

Debbie

Welcome on board! On #2, we've always like staying up later the night before, playing bingo, seeing movies, going to the spa (me), sleeping in later, Palo brunch, reading on deck and now that I have a 19 year old, going to the adult pool (assuming warm enough) and/or the café. The days on shore depending on the excursions you pick can be long - 8 to 10 hours - and doing that back to back can make an at sea day a welcome break.

On FE, just post your information on this board - DIS name, cabin number if you have one, number of adults/children and any allergies like nuts. 3princessmommy who is organizing will pick it up and add you to her list.

I don't anticipate that the FE here will get that big, this board isn't terribly active. But if we start creeping up past 15 or 20, I'll look at splitting it. I'll also plan to close it at some point in May to give everyone enough time to get everything together before the cruise. Let me know if you have any other FE questions.

Thank you everyone for your feed back. I am assuming that the board will pickup now that final payments were due. If not, I am sure I can keep it moving with all of my questions.

I am anxiously awaiting March 16th so I can start making my reservations for the Port Adventures, Palo, and the Spa.

I just printed out the port adventures to go through, so I will perusing them over the next week to pick out the ones I would like to do. I see they finally added all of the ports to the port adventures now.

I am curious how an excursion can last longer than the port stop. The pulpit rock in Stavanger last 8 hours, but we are in port only 5 hours.

I have everything all taken care of now, except my transportation issue from Dover to Ashford, I may post that on the main cruise boards.

Will we do DIS a meet on board?

Add me to FE please.

Some folks had mentioned getting together at 3 or 3:30 in the Promenade Lounge on embarkation day, but don't know if that's been finalized yet or not.

We can't book that Stavanger excursion; it's for the people taking the Fjord cruises before us :(

I live in a town between Dover and Ashford so I can help with transportation between the two! My inclination would be to take the train from Dover Priory to Ashford International. You then walk through a tunnel to the EuroStar terminal. You can take a taxi from the cruise terminal to Dover Priory for probably about £6-7. You would have to take an on-peak train, which costs more than off-peak (off-peak is all trains that leave AFTER 10am) but I don't think the cost between Dover and Ashford would be too too high. You can check fares via South Eastern Trains.

You could also take a taxi. I'd suggest e-mailing or calling to pre-book a flat rate because the meter is expensive. I'm guessing about £40-45 for a taxi from Dover to Ashford if it was on a meter and there's no traffic. So if you can find a company with a flat rate for cheaper, it might be worth booking.

There are regular town busses, but they'll take awhile, and you need to leave time to check in at Eurostar. You clear French customs in the UK so you have to allow time for that.

Thanks for the information. Because of the time consideration, I am probably going to book a flat-rate pickup to take us there.

I see that it states we should be getting off around 9:00 do you think we are pressing it to get to the station by on time? btw.. 9am seems like kind of a late disembark time, especially with a day at sea prior. Do you think we will get off earlier then that?

It may be 9 am. There may be tide issues and they may not be able to disembark until that time. That was an issue during the 2010 Baltic cruises. But it could be earlier.

Hello! Our family of 4 (2 teenage daughters, 17 & 15), booked this cruise April of last year. Just finished booking our flights this week. Arriving in CPH on 6/26/15 and departing from LHR on 7/15/15. Any other cruisers with teenagers in tow? Both girls didn't know about this until a few days ago and they are so excited to go to the Vibe and meet new friends! Too bad we were late signing up for ABD pre-cruise so we'll just have to do our own Copenhagen sight seeing. We'll be staying either at the Marriott Copenhagen or the AC Bella Sky Marriott (thank goodness for reward points :D)!

Hi Debbie! Yes that's us. We were also on the first TA together I think. We were in Ohio - West Chester - near Cincy. We moved to Atlanta in 2009. This is one itinerary we said we wouldn't miss. :sail:
