6/29/15 Magic to Norway & Iceland

deposit is now made!! Did it on line and it didn't take so called in...boy does their site not work all the time..:badpc:.same thing happened a few weeks ago when I tried to PIF my July Greek cruise...
But at least the deposit is in!! :woohoo:

my mother my daughter and I are booked. Been waiting for another cruise since baltic 2010party:

Hello! Question about excursions. We are considering transferring our booking to a travel agent. Do the TAs book the excursions or can we book them directly on the website?

you do it yourself online. You won't be able to until a certain date, depending on your "status" as a previous cruiser. If you haven't cruised on DCL before, it's 75 days prior.

The TA won't affect your ability to book any excursions or onboard activities (PALO dinners, spa, etc.), but you will need to go through them to change your stateroom, dining time, or adding ground transportation, etc.

hope this helps

Well we are back in. Deposit paid. Honestly I am still not sure we will do this cruise. Airfare is a killer. Still I hope we do.

Never heard of this but in my cabin, 2 of us have main dining (me and my son) 2 have late (daughter and significant other). Guess we won't be dining together...(asked for main)

Concierge will fix that for you, I'm sure.

I am spending this snow filled Saturday loosely looking at plans for this trip. This is what happens when you are excited!

For the 2010 Baltic we spent a few days in London before embarking. This time we are thinking of flying into London a few days ahead then taking a short flight to Copenhagen the day of the cruise.

We did some touring in 2010 and did not see everything we wanted (sometime when we are bored I will tell the story of the Disney Store). This trip I am thinking of taking a trip to Chichester. It is in the south near Portsmouth. It is where my family is from hundreds of years ago. Any of our UK friends have an idea how I can do that? It looks like there is a train that goes there. Then once I get there is it easy to navigate?

There is alot of time to think about this, but it is what is on my brain today :)

Debbie <----- sitting watching snow in March... almost April and planning a trip to Iceland... anyone see the irony

Where we are from: Southern New Hampshire Who we are: It will be me, Laura and my two daughters who will be almost 14 and almost 9 by the time we cruise. It's hard to say what my favorite place to travel is (most of them are with Disney:). DCL to Alaska was incredible. We were able to spend time in Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia which were beautiful. Our trip to the Med last summer was our first time to Europe. Barcelona was amazing. My oldest daughter still says that Croatia was her favorite. Are all of you planning on a few days in Copenhagen before and a few days in London after? I know we are, but trying to figure out just how many in each city. Crazy that there are barely any cabins left!

If I could be any Disney character, I would be Merida. My oldest daughter would want to be Belle because she loves to read or Mary Poppins. My youngest daughter would be Stitch (when you meet her, you will understand:).

As other posters have said, i am sure concierge can fix this for you. We did just change our dining from main to second seating, as did CaliforniaGirl09, so if main was full, 8 spots should have just opened up.

Looking forward to joining everyone. It will be myself (47), DW(44), and DD (11). We are excitted about the trip! Looking to join the Facebook page as well. Thanks!
:dance3:

JenKatt, those little boys of yours are so adorable! Heartbreakers for sure!

CaliforniaGirl09 - When we were on the Fantasy last summer, the ship's OnDemand was showing The Hobbit! Sure, we own it, sure, by the time the ship sails in 2015 we shall own whatever is released at that point of all 3 Hobbit films (did I mention we are big fans? ;)), but if it shows up on the TV, we will still take time out of the day and enjoy. I can just imagine how "in the moment" we will be when we look out the window and view scenery reminiscent of what we pictured in our minds whilst reading the books!

And Frozen - apparently my DD is planning on watching Frozen as we go around Norway.

No matter how old they get, my children still retain a bit of childlike joy. Their parents are the same way, which is good or they would be laughing at us all the time!

Just looked at availability, and concierge was open. How much is pampering worth? :scratchin It was so much easier to say no when it was all booked on opening day! Yet I won't, because then my DH will kill me, and I shall miss out on the cruise. But for those lucky enough to be in concierge, I hope it is extra wonderful for this cruise! :)

My DD told me last night that she would like to go visit Tolkien's home on the return, and visit Hamlet's castle while in Denmark. Anyone know how feasible any of this is?

I will research it too, but I am not familiar with any of those areas so I have no idea of the reality of actually getting to those places. It's like if someone says, "oh, you live 50 minutes from Chicago according to Mapquest" - sure, at 3 in the morning perhaps, try more like almost 2 hours during rush hour (which lasts 4 hours, not one hour!)! So I just wonder how easy or hard it is to get to those places in reality.

It is very nice to see that I am not the only one starting the planning and thinking about excursions already! So many like minded travelers! :cool1:

Where you are from: I’m Nobbi, born in Germany, moved to Florida at the age of 12, went to school in Daytona Beach and university in Atlanta. I spent most of my career in the San Francisco Bay Area. There I met my husband Jack. We have been together 20 years. We were finally able to get married in 2003 in Vancouver, BC. Jack is originally from Ely, MN but has lived in IA, MA, and CT before coming to SF.

During 2010 and 2011, we lived in Germany. The following year took us back to CA (Folsom by Sacramento). Since January 2013 we have been living in Rocky Hill, CT.

Who you are going with: It is just Jack and me. So far we have done 12 DCL voyages. We have done 4 Caribbean (02/2007 & 02/2008 on the Magic and 04/12 & 02/14 on the Fantasy), 2 Mexican Riviera (08/2008 on the Magic & 12/2011 on the Wonder), 3 TA on the Magic (09/2010 WB, 05/2011 EB, 05/2013 EB), 1 HI on the Wonder (10/2012), as well as a B2B Vancouver-LA-PC-Galveston on the Wonder (09/13).

Favorite travel: I used to like city vacations. Now I prefer just relaxing. We discovered cruising in 2007 and DCL is our favorite. In fact, we are booked on both TA crossings this year. So the Norway/Iceland cruise should be DCL #15. We generally like the sea days and do not care much about the ports. This one will be an exception. In 2007 we took a TA on Princess, which stopped in Torshavn, Akureyri, and Reykjavik. We loved it.

If you were a Disney character which one would you be: No doubt! Figment, my favorite Disney character.

We had a 1BR suite on one of our TA crossings. It is the only concierge cabin we've had. This was on the Magic. The old ships have no concierge lounge or separate sun deck. The plus is the dedicated check in which we get already as Platinums. There really was not much pampering. The suite was spectacular though. And we received little canapes each pm. For us the 9.5K is bad enough. At 29K I'll settle for a normal balcony.

We (myself and Penny (LuckyPenny) booked this on the Magic Bahama cruise last week.
We did have 6624, but after researching the room decided it was not a good assignment, so we changed to a 5A GTY. Hopefully that will work out well. We swore we would not book any cruises for 2015, but jumped at the chance for this cruise. This cruise feels a great deal like the 1st Hawaii cruise; 19 pages already!
Unless we squeeze in another cruise, this one will get us to Platinum. We are doing the California repositioning and subsequent 9 night Alaska cruise next.
We live in Northern Virginia and look forward to meeting some of you and absorbing all the knowledge provided.

Where you are from: Northern Virginia (Woodbridge/Dale City) I am originally from Erie, PA and Penny is from Malden, MA
Who are you going with: Just my bride and me.
Favorite Travel: DCL - Alaska
Disney Character: Don't know, but Penny keeps pointing out Grumpy t-shirts. Saw one that said "I am not grumpy, everyone around me is too happy!"

Where you are from: Los Angeles. Lived here my entire 39 years and never plan in leaving I don't care how much the earth shakes. Can't live away from my Dodgers or Disneyland.
Who you are going with: My Wife. She likes to remain anonymous. We have zero kids.
Favorite travel: Thats a hard one so I will say it's a toss up between 3 DCL. 2005 WBPC. That was our first cruise with DCL. Loved the pin overnight and made great friends because of that overnight. 2008 WBPC. That was just a great cruise and my friend meet her husband in that cruise so that was special. 2012 first Hawaii cruise. I just loved crossing the Pacific and my first trip to the island. Very awesome and I want to do that again almost more than any other cruise DCL does.
If you were a Disney character which one would you be: Scrooge McDuck. Not only is he my favorite but man is he a smart duck.
