6/29/15 Magic to Norway & Iceland

Hi fellow cruisers..... my husband and I will be on the Norway/Iceland 11 day 2015 cruise too. We are from Long Beach California. Iceland has always been on my bucket list !
So excited for this cruise.
Jeff was on the Panama Canal cruise 12/2010 that we were on too I believe,,,, he made an excellent webpage for the cruise !

Who you are going with: DH Matt and our twin boys (4 at time of cruise) Callum and Gavin. We are also traveling with my in-laws, some good friends, and some of their family. 14 of us in total.

Favorite travel (ie fave disney cruise or the best place you have travelled to): We've take 3 DCL trips so far and loved them all. Alaska last year was great, but we also loved our trip on the Fantasy earlier this month - my boys really had a great time on that one. Before kids, DH and I were lucky enough to travel to many great places. Hard to pick a favorite since they are all so different, but I can maybe give a top 3 of Yellowstone, Japan, and Botswana (safari for our honeymoon).

If you were a Disney character which one would you be? I'm not sure. I do love Stitch though!

Also, I see a few RunDisney folks on here. Pre-kids, DH and I ran a bunch of RunDisney races (and a bunch of races in general). Fundulidae, it looks like we were at a lot of the same races. DH and I ran the Goofy in 2009 and 2010 and we were at the Inaugural Wine & Dine Half (I only did the 5K since I was pregnant). I also ran the last Minnie, ToT 13K, and the inaugural Everest.

Maybe our kids can meet up and play. My oldest son always misses someone to play with when we cruise. He is to shy to play with kids that does not speak danish.

Excellent idea - we are very interested in this. Our daughter didn't like being in the kids clubs last time since nobody understood her - it will probably be easier if they could "team up" and at least understand each other. Let's remember and make arrangements a little closer to departure date - and be sure to meet on day 1 of the cruise! Jens

Who you are going with: Husband, DS who will be 18 at cruise time, and DD who will be 15.

Favorite travel (ie fave disney cruise or the best place you have travelled to) This is really tough as we've been on some great Disney vacations, including 2 ABDs and 4 family DCL cruises (Mexico, Med, Alaska, and Fantasy Concierge), but I'd have to say ABD Scotland last summer. It was an amazing trip to a place I've traveled extensively. I'd been to most of the places on the itinerary before, but Disney really added some special magic (private plane to the Isle of Lewis, a hike on the Quarrang on the Isle of Skye, launching canoes from Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness, etc.) My very favorite place I've ever traveled to though is probably St. Kilda. They call it the island on the edge of the world for a reason. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Kilda,_Scotland It's a UNESCO world heritage site, and it was amazing. I'm actually hoping to be able to land for the second time in June on another Western Isles cruise. My answer might change after this cruise though. I'm expected the Faroes to give it a challenge. As I mentioned earlier, they are #1 on the travel bucket list. Can't wait!

If you were a Disney character which one would you be? Depends on who you ask. My family would say Cruella. I would say Giselle from enchanted

Who are you going with? My DH, Geoff, DD who will be 10, and DS who will be 6.

Favourite travel Our 2012 Hawaii Cruise on the Wonder. We spend a week in San Diego, went whale watching in LA, the our first trip to Disneyland (which we loved). Followed by the best cruise I have taken.... it was a magical month.

If you were a Disney Character, which one would you be? Minnie, maybe? She's my favourite, by far.

DH, DD (12) & DS (10). Our friends, CaliforniaGirl09 and her family, are also taking this cruise and hopefully the July 10 Baltics for a B2B. Our families have done three DCL cruises together (the Med in 2011, Alaska in 2012 and the Fantasy Western in 2013), and CaliforniaGirl09 and I have done one other DCL cruise together (Canada in 2012) and are going on the San Diego to Vancouver repo together in May.

Favorite Disney cruise is the Med in 2011. Favorite place I have travelled is Africa (Zambia and Zimbabwe in 2001), closely followed by Scotland (we did the ABD with CaliforniaGirl09 and her family last year). Had to edit to add Italy. DH and I honeymooned there and loved the places we went (Porto Santo Stefano, Santa Margherita/Portofino, Cinqueterra and Bellagio (Lake Como)),

If you were a Disney character which one would you be?

Hmm. This is a tough one. Probably Minnie Mouse. I love that she is tough and kind of girlie all at the same time. DH would definitely be Donald Duck!!

It was 2 months ago on the Wonder. And I know you weren't on that cruise, and I don't know if the guest has actually sailed with you before. She may have just read your trip reports and seen your pictures. I was B2B on the 2 Miami cruises before drydock and in chatting she asked where my father was. I explained I was sailing solo for that cruise and she asked, "Don't you usually travel with your father?" I explained that my parents had never sailed Disney before but were joining me for the next cruise as I was staying onboard. It was a bit odd.

As it turns out, though we have had a lot of "near misses", we have actually sailed together on one cruise:

Where you are from: We are from Roseville, CA (Northern CA by Sacramento)

Who you are going with: Me, DH Jimmy and DD Eleni (will be 25 when we sail) She was just 9 on our first cruise...we are in the same room we were in back in 1999!!!

Favorite travel (ie fave disney cruise or the best place you have travelled to) Favorite DCL cruise we have been on 10 Disney cruises so far. The ones I liked the best are the first one, because we had no idea what to expect and the Fantasy Maiden because it was non stop fun!! But then the MED and Baltic were over-the-top exciting...oh and Alaska was a dream come true...but wait there's more, we are sailing to Greece this summer...lol ok I have to say any cruise is the best cruise!!!

If you were a Disney character which one would you be? that's a hard one....Have to think about it....but I always wanted to come back as a bird and live at Disney World!!! lol

Who you are going with: DH Paul on what will be 41 years married on this cruise this trip is in celebration of this April's 40th! Also traveling with us is my sister ME and brother-in-law Dusty and friends Bill and Pam. No little ones with us but we enjoy kids since we are all kids at heart!

Favorite travel (ie fave disney cruise or the best place you have travelled to): The most memorable vacation has to Australia however we have loved all our Disney Cruises especially the 1st PC and 1st Med.

If you were a Disney character which one would you be? DH is a tigger fan and I am Mickey. I collect MM watches I have over 150 of them

Where you are from: Folkestone, Kent (10min from Dover)...but I'm from British Columbia/Saskatchewan, Canada.

Who you are going with: DH, Josh. We're leaving the kids at home for this one!

Favorite travel (ie fave disney cruise or the best place you have travelled to): We've only done 1 DCL cruise (4 night Dream) and while it was great, DH had a sinus infection the whole time and DS8 was really run down from jet-lag/the heat/etc.

I'm relatively well travelled so picking just one best place is pretty hard. I loved Slovenia last year, had an amazing time in Australia as a child, have fond memories of Fiji, love San Francisco, have a Classics/Art History degree so I've spent a lot of time in Italy and Greece. I love the world, I just want to see it all!

If you were a Disney character which one would you be?: Ariel, minus the red hair and the mermaid thing.

CaliforniaGirl09, I just sent that article about the Faeroe Islands on to my DD. We are big Tolkien fans in this house, and the moment I saw the headline I knew she would be excited for this, too.

I see quite a few of you have gone to Australia and/or New Zealand. Going to New Zealand, and also doing the LOTR/Hobbit tour, is definitely on my family's list. last summer, we had PJ (from Australia) as one of our concierge on the Fantasy, and he kept trying to convince us that we had to do Australia first, that it was so much better than NZ. All in good fun, of course. Maybe in 4 years?

There are so many unique and beautiful places to see in this world, that I am so glad that we shall be visiting Norway/Iceland next summer! I mean, I love my Caribbean cruises, and it makes no sense that a heat loving person like me would go somewhere cold in prime summer for Northern IL, but the joy of travel calls!

This will be our 14th DCL cruise. Our favorite was the Fantasy Maiden Voyage. As much as we loved 3 weeks in Australia and it had always been our favorite trip, I'd say our favorite vacation now was the ABD Scotland trip last year with Calfan and Californiagirl.
