6/29/15 Magic to Norway & Iceland

Oh wow that looks awesome!

Thanks. Obviously, I couldn't keep paying for a website though. And the comic sans font (Which I used as a joke, but for some reason people loved).

Oh, and the incessant "It doesn't work on iphone.... it doesn't work on ie6".

But seriously, I'll be working on getting something up in the next month or two that will be just as cool, but without the horrible font :)

we have 458 days until we cruise. We can wait for little league season to at least start and HS baseball to finish up before you worry to much.

Love the website. DH thought it was a great idea too!

What about using blogspot or wordpress as a free option?

I just wanted to say how excited I am that this group is so active! I would love to start to get to know everyone! Shall we do some questions?

Where you are from:
Who you are going with:
Favorite travel (ie fave disney cruise or the best place you have travelled to):
If you were a Disney character which one would you be?

Here is are my answers:

Where you are from: Chicago

Who you are going with: husband and daughter (5)

Favorite travel (ie fave disney cruise or the best place you have travelled to):this will be only our 2nd cruise. We did a 7 night western car. On the Fantasy last October. I have been dying to go on another one. We tried this year, but we also like the Run Disney races and have quite a few this year (wdw half this past Jan, DL half (DDD!) in Aug and Wine & Dine) so no time for another cruise! My favorite place we have travelled has to be New Zealand for our honeymoon.

If you were a Disney character which one would you be? I wasn't sure my answer so I asked my daughter. Her response: "uhhhh I know ! you are Queen Miranda, Daddy is King Roland. Now I am Sophia the first!" Clearly we have a Disney Jr fan in the house. I am still thinking of my answer :)

Good morning from wet and dreary Northern IL! Of course, if it is wet on our cruise, it won't be dreary because, well, it will be a cruise! :cool1:

Tigfanjeff, I really liked that video link you posted. It seems like the Icelandic language puts the emphasis on the first syllable, which is how my native language, Hungarian, does it. I shall emphatically emphasize that first syllable as I butcher the rest of the pronunciation, but hopefully I will still end up where I want to be while touring!

The former website looks fantastic! I look forward to seeing one for this cruise!

Ok, I agree with Shelby109 in regards to getting to know you all, especially since I don't know any of you, so here are my answers -

Where you are from: I live in the far, far western suburbs of Chicago, on the way to Dekalb, IL.

Who you are going with: My husband and my youngest DD, who will have finished sophomore year at University. Eldest DD is getting married this May, so I am done paying for her trips (but she is a great girl, so who knows, maybe she plays on our heartstrings and she comes, too - but not her husband, nope, not paying for him, no way :rolleyes1).

Favorite travel (ie fave disney cruise or the best place you have travelled to): This will be our 10th Disney cruise, some more memorable than others, but they were all great. I suppose my favorite was the one we took my parents on 6 years ago - they had not been a ship since they crossed over the Atlantic as refugees from Communism. It was a wonderful trip, and my dad passed away 2 months later, so it this cruise is especially close to my heart.

Also loved my trip to Hungary with my dad and daughters when the girls were 12 and 7. Those two trips are my tops, I suppose. Well, then there is...no, too many good trips, so hard to choose! I just like vacations!

If you were a Disney character which one would you be? - Well, many years ago my eldest would've said I was the evil stepmother in Cinderella, except I am her actual mother! But then she made it through adolescence, so I don't fit that description anymore. Myself, I believe I am, hmm, a queen of some sort? The one in Brave, yes, many similarities there with the daughter!;)

And thanks also to the person that posted the link to the port in Iceland! What a great brochure! Those hot springs look great - hopefully we will have time for that. I like being warm!

It's rather dreary down here around St. Louis as well.

Where you are from: Shiloh IL, which is about 30 miles east of St. Louis MO. Hubby & I both work in the city.

Who you are going with: Hubby (Greg) is with me - I'm thrilled to see some friends we made on our first two cruises joining in this group as well.

Favorite travel (ie fave disney cruise or the best place you have travelled to): The most memorable vacation has to be the Fantasy's Maiden Voyage. It was not only the Fantasy's first cruise, but also my first cruise and hubby's first Disney cruise. (He'd sailed once on Carnival before we met - and said "NEVER AGAIN" after sailing DCL.)

We are however, true Disney junkies and end up traveling to WDW 4-5x a year, thanks to DVC. (However, I think all travel costs will need to be routed to this cruise now... so maybe we'll rent out points to my family.)

If you were a Disney character which one would you be? If we talk classic characters, I'm all sorts of Goofy!!! Love him! But my personality is very much like Merida... I grew up rather strong-willed and did a lot of digging my heels into the ground pretty much from the time I could walk through college. Thankfully, I've learned how to use that personality in a good way as an adult. :)

Hi neighbor!:wave2:

Hi up there!!
Looks like we finally got rid of the cold huh?

I'm researching how we're going to get to CPH and back from LON..
Flying a multi-city itinerary through Delta (ORF) -> ATL/JFK seems to be the winner right now, around ~1600..
I thought about driving up to WAS.. (and my brother lives there), but I dunno

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :beach:
Have a great cruise!

Where are you from: Hampton Roads (Suffolk/Norfolk/VB), Virginia
Who are you going with: Myself, Wife, DS (14, 11) at the time
Favorite travel: Wow - it's been a tie but we've liked both the DCL Alaska and DCL Mediterranean we went on.. we'll see what happens after this trip eh?
Disney character: My sig says tigger, since i'm always bouncing around - but my wife would say goofy =)

Where you are from: I live in the far, far western suburbs of Chicago, on the way to Dekalb, IL.
!

luvavacation - I just realized that I should have been specific ..haha. We actually live in the western suburbs as well (Elmhurst)- we haven't lived here too long so I end up defaulting to "Chicago" out of habit :)

Oops -
I had a double message

Anyways, editing this one instead..

If people get a chance, please check out the Norway tips thread also, see if you can contribute to it also.. I've x-posted some of the stuff to there as well as we all like to help others out right? :)

Shelby109, pretty much everyone just says, "Chicago" if they live within 4 hours or so. Most people around the world know where Chicago is, so it is the default for everyone.

Of course, you may also hear, "Chicago, bang bang" when you tell someone from another country where you are from, because they still think we have gangsters everywhere. :lmao:

It is nice to know in what part of Chicago all us Chicagoans live, because you just might find that your neighbour is also joining you on the cruise and you need to get together to compare notes! Unless you don't like your neighbour, in which case, just admit to "Chicago". ;)

I just wanted to say how excited I am that this group is so active! I would love to start to get to know everyone! Shall we do some questions?

Where you are from: Pittsburgh PA
Who you are going with:DH, and 2 DD (13/11 on the cruise!)
Favorite travel (ie fave disney cruise or the best place you have travelled to):we loved the last seven day eastern caribbean cruise we took-- we had a group of 11 with us, all different families--such fun! hoping to get at least one on this trip!
If you were a Disney character which one would you be? tough one! I'd love to say Anna!

Can't remember if I mentioned in my first post that the 29th is my birthday and we are also celebrating our 20th anniversary!

No matter where we are, as soon as we say we are from IL, people automatically assume we are from Chicago. So now we default to St. Louis when responding to the "where are you from?" question. However - I'll take Chicago pizza over St. Louis pizza ANY DAY!!!!!! Melt in your mouth DEEP DISH!!! YUM!!

I would love to meet my Chicago counterparts though... and we'll be up in your neck of the woods later this year: 7/20 for the Rock N Roll Chicago half marathon, and again in October for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon (provided I don't have to pull the marathon funding in lieu of this cruise). We routinely crash with friends in Romeoville.

Where you are from: outside of Tampa Florida, but am originally from Northern NJ (right outside NYC and then the mountains of NJ)
Who you are going with: Jeff (tigfanjeff)- DH; our sons Jackson (who will be 7 1/2 at cruising) and Jonathan who will be 3 1/2 My mom is also coming with us
Favorite travel (ie fave disney cruise or the best place you have travelled to): this is a loaded question. Best cruise hands down was the May '05 WBPC cruise. The boat was sold out but barely full. every room averaged 2 people in it, there were so few kids (like less than 50 or something). The closed the kids clubs to the kids one night and let the adults in. That was awesome. We also had one of the best disboards group ever.
Favorite overall trip was our 5 weeks in Australia and NZ.

If you were a Disney character which one would you be? dunno about that.... Jeff's a tigger, not sure about me

Hi all!

Just wanted to join in as we have booked this cruise as well. We are Danes, actually living in Copenhagen, and thought we should come say Hi! when Mickey is in town. We will be myself, my wife and our two kids (boy 3, girl 8).

Any questions relating to Copenhagen - please feel free to ask here or PM me.

Looking very much forward to welcoming you all to our home town!

Maybe our kids can meet up and play. My oldest son always misses someone to play with when we cruise. He is to shy to play with kids that does not speak danish.

Where you are from: Kent, England. It's the bottom right hand sticky out bit. Called the Garden of England as it's so green here. We have THIS CASTLE a few miles from us, but unfortunately, we don't live in it!

Who you are going with: Travelling with Mick (45). We have been together for 13 years and are getting married on the WBTA this Sept.

Favourite travel (ie fave disney cruise or the best place you have travelled to) Favourite DCL cruise was the Dover to Barcelona repo in 2010. Great discounts for UK residents and had a great time on board. Favourite other destinations are the UK (so much history and fantastic sights) or Australia. Micks family live there so we go every few years .. love the climate!

If you were a Disney character which one would you be? Not sure about this one, but probably Stitch. I can be quite naughty and like to bend rules (but I don't wear shorts in the MDR, don't steal pillows and won't bring an under 18 into Quiet Cove!!)
