6/15 - Rope Drop is Back

Wow! Glad we got to visit when you could roam the park when they were letting people in earlier than opening.

I'm okay paying a premium. $10-$15 per Maxpass in the past was beyond reasonable. If they do charge a premium, my only hope is that you can pick and choose your days rather than having to buy it for all days of your pass. When we go to the park 3-5 days at a time, there are some days when I'd prefer not to have it so we can slow down and just enjoy the ambience and non-Maxpass rides. But with the cost of tickets and hotels, adding a premium cost to one or two days of our trips to be able to maximize our ability to ride the headliners would be worth it to me.

I think they did allow this previously, IIRC. You just purchased each day when you got to the park instead of all at once when purchasing tickets.

They definitely did! Before you were able to add it to your ticket at purchase, you added it each morning as we were walking in. I actually didn't like that aspect very much since we were doing the "fast walk" in to rope drop and I was fiddling with my phone the whole time. I didn't like missing being able to take in the initial sights and sounds as I entered, but wanted to get our first "pass" ASAP so we were on a curve to get as many as possible. And that "rush, rush, rush" mentality is why there are days when I prefer NOT to get a Maxpass.

Thanks for the update. We will be there for the first time this weekend. I'd hate to be there way early only to find I can't get in.

Did they hold everybody at the respective lands until 9am? We entered DCA at 8:30 and were allowed to wander the entire park - there was no rope drop.

What time did you line up? We are going to DCA tomorrow and wondering when we should get to the harber side entrance. We want to be there early to maximize lower wait times early but now with the changes, not sure how early we should get there.

From some pics I saw this morning they were holding the rope just before the avengers campus entrance so my guess is they dropped it at 8:30 or just before that.

Interesting. It couldn’t have been very long because they were just letting people in when we got in line to get into DCA and it was completely gone by the time we got in.
