We'll be there for sure! I just wish the meet was at 5:00 instead since we will be crazy busy making reservations.... We are staying at the Swan and the DCL transportation don't pick us up until 11:45 - 12:00 so we won't get to port early.

For those of you staying at the Swan and Dolphin pre-cruise, have you thought about hiring a van to shuttle you to the port? If there are enough of you, it would be cheaper than DCL transports, and you can get there when you want AND most will make a complimentary grocery stop if you want to stock up on some beverages of choice or pick up any last minute items. I'm using Pricless transporation for the return from the port to the Swan and Dolphin by way of the airport to drop off a few people, then making a grocery stop on the way to the hotel for grocery items to have for the water parks and for snacks. They have been very accomodating!

Thanks Fran!! :upsidedow

So...reporting back on the Shark Mop. I purchaed it on Friday night and used it when I got home. I added some Vinegar to the chamber. The floors turned out nice. Unfortunately, I have not changed the floors since we bought the house and they are the 16" white tiles, so use your imagination if I don't clean them every week. It usually takes about an hour and I was done in like 20minutes. I love that thing!!

I would rather be safe then sorry so I went ahead and made appointments for the girls at the infectious disease clinic. I want to be as informed as possible. The news is great but I would rather hear first hand from an Infectious Disease doctor about risks, etc. Last time I went they even perscribed antibiotics and anti-diahara medicine just in case.

Some people might think I am nuts but I would rather be safe then sorry.

Not nuts, just proactive! :)

from the CDC's website....

Antiviral Drugs and Swine Influenza
Antiviral Drugs
Antiviral drugs are prescription medicines (pills, liquid or an inhaler) with activity against influenza viruses, including swine influenza viruses. Antiviral drugs can be used to treat swine flu or to prevent infection with swine flu viruses. These medications must be prescribed by a health care professional. Influenza antiviral drugs only work against influenza viruses -- they will not help treat or prevent symptoms caused by infection from other viruses that can cause symptoms similar to the flu.

There are four influenza antiviral drugs approved for use in the United States (oseltamivir, zanamivir, amantadine and rimantadine). The swine influenza A (H1N1) viruses that have been detected in humans in the United States and Mexico are resistant to amantadine and rimantadine so these drugs will not work against these swine influenza viruses. Laboratory testing on these swine influenza A (H1N1) viruses so far indicate that they are susceptible (sensitive) to oseltamivir and zanamivir.

Benefits of Antiviral Drugs
Treatment: If you get sick, antiviral drugs can make your illness milder and make you feel better faster. They may also prevent serious influenza complications. For treatment, antiviral drugs work best if started as soon after getting sick as possible, and might not work if started more than 48 hours after illness starts.

Prevention: Influenza antiviral drugs also can be used to prevent influenza when they are given to a person who is not ill, but who has been or may be near a person with swine influenza. When used to prevent the flu, antiviral drugs are about 70% to 90% effective. When used for prevention, the number of days that they should be used will vary depending on a person’s particular situation.

CDC Recommendation
CDC recommends the use of oseltamivir or zanamivir for the treatment and/or prevention of infection with swine influenza viruses.

Oseltamivir (brand name Tamiflu ®) is approved to both treat and prevent influenza A and B virus infection in people one year of age and older.
Zanamivir (brand name Relenza ®) is approved to treat influenza A and B virus infection in people 7 years and older and to prevent influenza A and B virus infection in people 5 years and older.

Swine Flu Cases Up to 40, CDC Officials Confirm; Mexico Travel Advisory Coming

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention plans later today to announce a new travel advisory for Americans visiting Mexico, according to Dr. Richard Besser, acting director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "Later today we will be releasing a new travel advisory to Mexico," Besser said at a Monday afternoon press conference. "This is out of an abundance of caution, and we are recommending unnecessary travel to Mexico be avoided."

Meanwhile, New York City Michael Bloomberg said at a separate press conference that though 20 additional cases of swine flu have been confirmed since yesterday, all of these additional cases were at St. Francis Prepatory School -- the same Queens school at which health officials discovered the first eight cases of swine flu.
"We are still dealing with a single cluster of swine flu cases, all associated with this one school," he said, adding that to his knowledge all of those infected with the virus are improving.
"So far, we are not seeing a situation comparable to that being reported in Mexico."

Since Sunday, the World Health Organization has adjusted the number of confirmed cases of swine flu in the United States to 40. And while swine flu cases in the United States appear to be less severe than those in Mexico, and no deaths have yet been reported, U.S. health officials warn that the outbreaks could get worse.
"What I want people to understand is that we're concerned," Besser told "Good Morning America" today. "People should be concerned. We'll tell you what we know when we know it."
The United States has not reported any swine flu fatalities, Besser said Americans need to be prepared for it to get worse.
"I think from what we understand in Mexico, people need to be ready that we can see more severe cases in this country," he said.
Addressing the National Academy of Sciences on Monday, President Barack Obama acknowledged the efforts to keep pace with the spread of the disease within the U.S.
"We are closely monitoring the emerging cases of swine flu in the United States," he said. "And this is obviously a cause for concern and requires a heightened state of alert."

Next Western leaves this Saturday, May 2nd.

I was reading another thread about this. I find it a concern. Is the incubation period about a week-or longer?

even if we don't get off, others, including CMs can be exposed.
