I think you are an awesome person for taking your son and yourself out of that awful situation!! I'm sure it is hard- you seem like you are doing a great job raising your son.:thumbsup2
Thank You! My son is AWESOME. He is such a great kid, 4.0, President of NJHS, Who's Who Among American Scholars, Gateway Young Achiever...

He misses not having a Dad thank goodness my Dad is around for a father figure.

Kids are cruel, he used to get teased for not having a Dad, so he would tell them that his Dad died in a car accident easier to cover up that way and it shut kids up for the most part. I was shocked the 1st time someone said something to me about his dad dying in a car accident, I was so confused until Larry explained it to me, he made that up on his own.

I think he came up with a good plan to deal with an awkward situation!! I don't blame him- kids are so cruel nowadays. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Aww... poor kid! I don't understand why kids are like that!
Sounds like you are in a MUCH better place now! :)

Diane, you are a brave woman, I can't imagine what that must have been like. I was lucky my ex was just kind of a jerk when we were married, didn't have much to do with the kids, never had a job... basically like a 4th kid. He got a 3rd dui and I just had it and figured it would be easier on our own. He'd take the kids every other weekend and was fairly agreeable we got along ok. Then one day when he was supposed to return the kids instead I got a call from a hospital. He had flipped the car with my twins inside. They were literally hanging upside down and had to be cut from their seatbelts. He wasn't drunk but had uncontrolled diabetes and was out of his mind. After that I refused to let him drive anywhere with my kids... he and his parents thought I was mean (most of his brothers & sisters were on my side). Then about 6 months later, on the way home from work he must have went into a diabetic comma while driving and he hit a barrier on a clover leaf, witnesses say he was doing like 100 mph. I just thank god he didn't kill anyone else. My kids don't seem to care that they only have one parent.... just gets a little tough for me... especially having twins and being expected to be in 2 places at the same time for things like school orientation etc.

Hello all! :wave2:
I realize I am joining this group of happy cruisers way late in the game ( I tried to read all 131 pages of posts so far but I just can't do it) - you guys seem to already know each other - that's so cool!!! I hope it's not too late for us to join up! We just booked the cruise a couple weeks ago and I think I am still in disbelief that we are going!!! This is my DREAM :cloud9: vacation!!! We are
Me - Andrea (47)
DH Kyle (47)
Megan (13)
Evan (will be 9)

I have only been on one other cruise and my kids have never been on one, so we are trying to figure it all out through the help of the Cruise forum!! Yay! One thing I just read on another thread is that you can bring your own alcohol onboard??!! I didn't think any cruise line allowed that! That is so awesome! DH doesn't drink but I do and I am happy to cut costs where ever we can! DD is a little on the fence about the kids activities...she will be 14 in August but according to what I read you need to be within 30 days of your birthday to move up to the next age group...so she will be with the 11-13 year old group. I think that will be fine - she will enjoy being the "oldest" of the group instead of the youngest in the teen group.
Anyway, I am hoping we can meet up with all you wonderful DISers!!!

Nikki - Can you fill me in on the gift exchange you are doing?
Thanks!!!! :goodvibes

Welcome, Andrea and family!!! My triplets turn nine (have 2 boys/1 girl) on the cruise, so they will be in the Lab with your DS!

Stephanie, can you shrink that down to the size for a signature? That would be really cute for us all to put in vs the Mickey thing I made. Love it!

:welcome:

Your kids are going to LOVE it!

We brought a ton of alcohol on the trans atlantic in 2007. We did not drink half of it but I am sure the room stwearts found sue for it! :-) LOL

DD - Brooklyn will be turing 8 the 1st day of the cruise so she will be in the Oceaneers lab too. It will be her first time in the lab so I am sure she will be happy. It is a surprise cruise so I can't ask her how she feels about it yet! LOL

If your DD wanted to move up you would just have to talk to the Club manager at the time. They would probably tell you "let's see how she does". On the phone they will tell you that they stick to the 1 month rule but on board it is basically up to the Kids Activities Manager at the time. :thumbsup2

This version is at exactly 250 pixels. Which means nothign else will fit on top or bottom of it. You can still have items on the side of it however. Let's see if this works for people.

Here it is at 200 just incase you needed room at the top or bottom.

Welcome!!! I also have a "turning 14" in Sept DD who is hoping to go to the stack. She is entering 9th grade, and looks older and is very mature for her age, so we're hoping they will let her go. She's already made a few similar aged friends thru text and email on this cruise. I will PM you so they can meet be introduced too! This is such a great group of Dis-ers!:goodvibes
