6/13/2009 Western on Magic- Our Cruise Chat Continues!

Hi Taina! Glad to hear you are feeling better! Megan doesn't really have any pirate stuff.. she wants to buy a pirate hat of some sort at DTD (that she has been wanting to buy for the last three times we've been there!!) but that would be it.. Evan has a pirate costume that he will wear... I am starting to worry more and more about packing....we have too much stuff!!! :scared1:

Glad to hear others are thinking of dressing up! I know it means more things to pack, and I've put each of my kids responsible for packing and carrying their own things. I did hear this rule - pack your suitcase and then take out 1/2 of it. I told DD that last night and she was :scared1: :scared1::scared1: She insists on bringing several pairs of shoes (she LOVES shoes!) and I said as long as it can fit in her suitcase, she can bring what she wants, but to keep in mind she'll need room for souveniers too!
She is also packing for band camp and helping DS do the same. This will be his first band camp, her 3rd year. They leave June 7-11, so we get to turn right around, get laundry done the am of the 12th, go for pedicures, and leave that evening for our flight on the 12th.
I still need to find FE gifts. Maybe go out today. Oh I wish I were creative!!!

Thanks for filling me in on what all the guys are wearing to formal night! I'm so glad to have this thread to get advice from.

Wishing everyone a safe holiday. Remember our fallen heroes and thier families. They have made the ultimate sacrifice for each one of us.

At least band camp for us is in July and it is the same week that Lance starts K at year round school!!

So My two little ones will be fully dressed up and Layne(14) will at least have a POTC shirt and his Jack Sparrow hair(lol)
DH will also have a "pirate look" and so will I.... It is extra to pack but so worth it:cool2:

Ditto!! From us!:thumbsup2

Oh, also, for those of you with boys around age 8, are they wearing a jacket to formal night? How about your DHs? Thanks!

We have jackets and the may or may not wear them due to if they feel to hot in them.:)
But they will for sure where a shirt and Tie, that looks so cute in photos:)
I will see if I can find a photo from last time to show you.:)

Neither daughter is doing well right now. Madison's immune system is worse the expected. Both girls are now being sent to different specialists. The doctors want to start Brooklyn on a medication with a lot of side effects. I am not ready to do it because we are supposed to be moving this summer. I do not feel comfortable if she is not monitored the whole way. Madison's surgery is going to happen right after we get back but before we move! :scared1: New rounds of immunology testing will start the morning we get back from the trip. I am sure I am leaving something out but thank you for asking! Things are crazy here like always! :)

I have not read the boards in a few days. I am sure I have missed a ton but I can't seem to find the time to sit down and read them. I hope all is well with everyone!

So sorry to hear this and hope they are better reall soon!! It is so hard when your child is sick and they can't figure out why! I know how you feel and will say prayers for you all.:grouphug:

There is a lot of reading to catch up on but wanted to say if I missed anyone that has not been doing well, I sure hope you get better soon!!

Here is a photo from when they just wore shirts and ties.:)

Cute pics!! DD has a pirate dress to wear- and DH and I will wear pirate shirts. I may wear a bandana.pirate: LOL Well, we are going to a cookout in a few minutes- talk to you all later. :goodvibes

:scared1::headache::sad1:We are without air conditioning.... I noticed that it wasn't getting any cooler today so checked the thermostat and still 78:eek: after a few hours of having it on 72 so I called DH Rob and he told me to turn it off completely until he got home.... So now we are on ceiling fan mode and all the lights off in the house:rolleyes1

I feel that this is gonna be a not so little expense:scared:

Well I need to work up a sweat so maybe this is the way to go:rotfl:

Greetings, everyone, and happy Memorial Day!

Well DD & I went on a mini Staycation here in Orlando Saturday/Sunday. I had a hotel certificate that I had to use by June 30th. Turns out the hotel where we were at was completely overrun with 10,000 Florida Home-schoolers - kids ands parents. When I say that it was a madhouse, believe me that it was. Kids (and parents) running through the halls at all hours, lines for everything, kids overtaking the "adult" pool. ARGH. DD and I had been upgraded to this ridiculously large suite (easily 1200 sf) but I would have been happier with a standard room and none of the ruckus.

However we did go out to Downtown Disney on Saturday night where we haven't been in a while. We went to a concert at the House of Blues for a little while but it was loud and full and DD's first concert in that type of venue. We then walked DD through the now closed Pleasure Island over to the Lego Store. Went into the TREX restauarant and when I say it was a zoo it was a complete ZOO. People were spilling out into the "street" waiting to get in for dinner and the wait was an hour and the kids were crying when the dinosaurs started their little show. They do have the most adorable "Build a Dino" takeoff of build a bear. They run $18 and $20 to stuff & fluff a dinosaur which you can then dress in dino-garb. (The average cost per dino at checkout, fully attired, is over $60+... I asked. And, no, DD didn't get one. It was that or the Captain Mickey she wants to get on the ship.)

There are some new additions over at the Lego store with some fabulous new "sculptures"... that's always a treat. Walked through the Dis merchandise store and there were people loading up on goodies.. maybe not so much as in the past, but still loading up, so I felt better for the overall health of Disney.

Went to Aeropostale today (per a tip I read earlier) and got 2 adorable* sundresses for DD. I asterisked them because she hasn't seen them yet so they just might be hideous - never really know until she had seen what I buy... :lmao:

Have a great balance of the weekend. Just having a 4 day week stretching ahead is enough to make me happy!!! :thumbsup2

PS -:grouphug: to everyone down/out/recovering/still wondering what's wrong/etc!!

I had the same thing happen a couple of summers ago. It turned out to be a simple "dual capacitor" This thing starts the motors in the compressor and fan on top of the outside box. I got mine at Grangers for around $20, the AC guy wanted $120 and more to install it. It took about 20 minutes to install. It is easy to tell if its bad. Looks like a can with terminals on top, if it is not a flat top but is bulged out it is bad. Good luck

Hello, everyone! It has been a while since I've posted and I hope everyone is enjoying thier holiday weekend.

I have been absolutely worthless today. I had big plans to clean and start gathering things for the cruise but I can't get motivated. I did manage to buy my outfit for formal/Palo yesterday at Ross for $29.99! Also got DD a couple of cute sundresses at Aeropostale for $15. Will these be ok for dinner?

DD12 and I will be gone on a field trip to D.C. early Monday thru late Thursday (about 11pm) before our cruise. We plan to come in long enough to wash our clothes and repack and then head out to Cocoa Beach around 3-4am. Boy we are gonna be tired from the 10 hour bus ride home from D.C. then driving about 8-9 hours to Florida!! I posted on the main forum that DD and I will be looking for a place to get pedicures in Cocoa Beach on Friday afternoon. Shirley's helpful thread had a place called Diva's Nails listed. Does anyone else know of a nail salon here? Looking for a CLEAN place!:rolleyes1

I see you're from upstate SC. We lived in Greenville and now outside of Charlotte. Hope to see you on the ship!

I just signed my family up for the Pirate Encounter at Grand Cayman. We couldn't get the early one, so we will be on the 11:45 one. It sounds like lots of fun. I'm sure the kids will have a blast. Thanks for the advice!!!

It was funny. On the Travel Channel yesterday there was a Great Cruises that was showing this. I very much wanted to watch it but we are keeping the details of this excursion a secret to Rob so we had to change the channel. :sad2:

Since there is swimming with it, he will not dress up.

They are 3 times as Cute!!
Thanks!

Hey,
Daniels treadmill test went GREAT today, the doctor said. Now we just have to wait for the doctor to look at everything he had done this week but still don't know why he is going through what he does. But I guess some good news is better then no good news.

What is everyone doing for the 3 day holiday weekend!! I say this because we still have school for 2 more weeks.
I'm glad the report was good!

Making more stuff and using it for magnets and T-shirts!!

SurfboardsDGPMM-1.jpg
That's cute. Can you post the blank template, please?

Hey all- finally home from work- an emotional looonnnggg day. But it's over, and I'm ready to go on Tuesday. We are working around my mom's house and our house this weekend- trying to get them ready to sell.
Glad the last day went well.

Good morning everyone!!!!

Well I survived Busch Gardens!! I was the designated "will you hold my bag" lady for the day since I won't ride roller coasters. These kids just left bags of "stuff" and money and ipods and went on their merry way. Oh, to not have a care in the world. The kids had fun, however, and I think DD went on the various roller coasters at least 20 times combined. The park was so quiet that they ran from the exit back to the entrances and went round & round.

Afterwards we went, with the bus, to a Golden Corral for dinner. That was a first for me, too, since I can be a food snob (At first I wasn't going to admit it, but this is like a big therapy session here -- :rotfl:) Anyhow, it was quite enjoyable given the fact that there were 32 kids and 7 chaperones and 1 poor busdriver. The yeast rolls were to die for and I had a hunk of sirloin that was actually very tasty and the salad bar was not too bad. I miss those salad bars that used to be everywhere back in the day (at least when I was a kid)...

The kids were all doing fine and acting in a semi-civilized manner until they realized that there was a soft serve machine.... Suddenly they were trying to outdo each other with dessert plates mounded with ice cream and rice krispy treats and, oh my, I was sure we were going to get kicked out. So I had to have a stern-eyed mommy chat with the tables about "take what you can eat and eat what you take" (and I sounded like my Navy dad). Needed to say, DD, was MORTIFIED that I was lecturing the kids.

It's like that on the ships where people will literally fill their plates with a pound of bacon and I think, have you never seen bacon before? Or the ladies with these huge plates of cut up fruit as if a cantelope is a rare and prized food. That's all cool if you are going to eat it, but it makes me crazy when at least 1/2 of it is left uneaten because "heck, we paid for it." Well, gee, of course you paid for it, but there's so much poverty in the world, and that amount of waste is disgusting, and if everyone did it then Disney would have to cut back even more on what they are offering (see the Steak discussion on the main threads for long diatribes on the food/menu changes and cutbacks.)

Off my soapbox.
Have a great day!

For Deb: have fun shopping with a teen gal ... I've long ago stopped buying things for DD without having her there because whatever I think is cute (read: classic, or appropriate, or not showing cleavage) she thinks is hideous.:rotfl2:
BG sounds fun.

Wow where the heck is everyone:confused3 Hmmm oh well 20 days to go for me!!!
I was at work!

Stephanie, sending you a big hug! Praying for your girls.

DD wants to know if any of the other teens are dressing up for pirate night. She has a dress and some accessories that look good together, but she doesn't want to dress up if no other teens are. Not sure if my DS will. He is dressing up for formal night though in a suit. He actually enjoys dressing up! :goodvibes
We are all dressing up!

Here is one from Pirate night.

Our ACs went out last summer. We had to replace both units (gave us a deal to go ahead and do both). :scared1:

I survived 3 long nights at work. Had 2 very, very sick babies with tons of issues. My mom arrived today (my dad didn't get to come as he had a business trip). She'll be here until Friday!!!! I work all next weekend again, and most of the next 2 weeks before we leave. I've got to get packing! Tomorrow I have another Dentist appt and Thurs see the OBGYN about a hysterectomy. Fun, fun, fun. Hope everyone is well!
