Ok I'm having a dilemma of where to eat in HS. We've been to '50's before and really enjoyed it but I am planning out where we are eating in October and would like to do something new. I keep reading mixed reviews for Sci Fi and can't decide. We are a family of 3 and am most worried about how the seating is. I don't want anyone to have to sit by themselves to eat. We are there as a family and should sit facing each other. I'm also iffy on the food. My DD would like to try it but only if she can get a milkshake instead of a pop. We are doing DDP. I'm not able to submit ADR's until April 17th, which is still 49 days away, but would like to get it figured out. All I will need to do after is wait for October hours to be released so I can determine which day we will be at each park.

If I could get some advice that would be great. Even suggestions for other TS restaurants in HS would be welcomed. :)

I love 50' prime time. Did not like Sci fi, I felt like I was eating alone. Only 2 could fit in a carThis trip we are trying Whispering canon, which I heard is similar to 50's.

I love Sci-Fi and didn't like 50's PT. However, if you don't want someone sitting by themselves it may be a problem, I don't know how they handle that. Maybe they have a wider car to accomodate parties of 3.

If you want to be looking at each other how would you watch the big screen?

I ate at 50's prime time and it was okay...i didnt love it. I think the theming of sci fi is cool but the seating thing isnt...we have 3 people too and that leaves one person alone...

Ok maybe we don't have to look at each other, lol, but sitting together would be nice. Otherwise one of us would feel like we were at the restaurant as a party of 1.

But this is what will happen.
In your situation I would suggest 50's Prime Time Cafe. I would hate to eat alone. We love 50's and are going back in October too

There are other seating options at Sci-fi.

50's was decent. Not the best ive ever had. But good. I did feel kinda rushed thou, they brought out the food so fast. Kinda too fast thou. Lol. But they have a good menu, and the antics are HILARIOUS. Im going back in August. i cant wait to try a new dish, i thought the fried chicken i got last time was too salty.

We really enjoy sci fi. The atmosphere is great. And the food is good. Not wow, but good. Know what i mean? if you stick to burgers you will be fine.

Personally i dont see an issue with parties of 3. For example, why dont you sit with your daughter while your hubby sits alone. Your on vacation together, you spend 24 hours together, one meal (1 hour for that one day) surely wont be a big deal. In fact, for him the solo break might be nice! Unless your hubby is afraid of the dark, i really dont see the big deal. He will be right behind you (or front) in the same car. The experience itself is pretty neat and unique. i'd highly recommend it.

True. It is a "car" after all. You will not be far away from each other. Think of it as if you were sitting in a real car.

I prefer 50's PT over Sci-Fi mainly for the food, to me 50's is a meal whereas Sci-Fi is sandwiches/burgers mostly. I did not care for sitting in the car at the time our family was 4 Adults makes it hard to talk since the people in the front of the car have to keep turning around but I did just find out this year that Sci -Fi does have table seating available too.

Haven't tried Sci-Fi yet but have been to 50's PT and are going back again this trip. We found the food to be very good and the antics were especially funny.

Done both many times.

Sci-Fi - Love the adult milkshakes :thumbsup2 & the atmosphere was neat to me because I grew up in the era of the drive-in. Only way to sit facing eachother there would be to hopefully get the round tables, picnic table in the back or the car with the table for 6 across from eachother. For me personally I would be upset to get either of these since I like the idea of the drive-in feel the cars give. Last time I went there was a family of 4 in front of us & the 2 of us sat in the back. This happens all too often especially during peak season. I don't mind sharing though. My main reason for going there is to show the "newbie" I'm with what it's like :)
And, the shows they have? Well, they'er out there! :rotfl2:

50's Prime Time - Fun if you get a real funny server & they'er usually all funny; food is OK. I typically get the pot roast with a Rootbeer Float :thumbsup2. 1st time I went my DD had to stand & sing "I'm a Little Tea Pot" for not eating everything on her plate. :rotfl: Another time my husband left a small piece of fat from his meat on the plate & had to put his head against the wall & say "I will not waste food again" :lmao:

To me they are both good for entertainment purposes. Enjoy!

I preferred the food at 50's much more than at Sci-Fi. That said, I really enjoyed the theme of Sci-Fi and the onion rings there are quite good.

We were looking forward to Sci Fi however, there are 3 of us and so now I'm concerned about that.

I have been to both but I like Sci Fi better. The food is basic burgers and such, great shakes! We like to eat there for the experience. You really do feel like you are at the drive in. And we try to catch all the hidden mickeys on the screen!

We like both. The food is a bit better at 50's but the atmosphere is so cool at Sci Fi. I usually just stick to the burgers and fries and shakes at Sci Fi though. You could probably ask for one of the tables as pp's have mentioned. I think it would still be fun.

Been to Sci Fi once, 50's Prime Time repeatedly - guess that tells you my opinion! :)
