50's Prime Time question

Can you request a low key server? We ate here a few years ago and I guess we must be big poops because we did not appreciate being scolded by mom. I would like to go again as we enjoyed the food, but we don't want the "show".

I believe you can ask for a "low key" server. However, I have found (and read here also) that for the most part the servers seem to know if you want to take part in the "games" or not. I am not really into all their stuff but my DS (now 14) really gets a kick out of it. They tend to lay off us (which I prefer) and only tease my DS a little. I do like the food but don't want to get "picked on". We have eaten there at least 4-5 times and have never been in the spotlight.

WE were there last April and and were told that the servers had toned down, due to some people's reations. We were bummed because we going for the 1st time with my sister who had been before. It was still fun but my sister said it had been better before.

When we were there in Oct. it seemed a little more toned down. It seemed like the wait staff "picked on" larger groups more, I guess they would be the ones to have more fun with it. One group was a mother/daughter wedding group. They were drinking mixed drinks & the waiter had a lot of fun with them.

When my DH and I went alone we were not "picked on" very much. We did get you two are soo quiet. You always have to worry about the quiet ones. At the beginning, they tell you its just for fun. I think that they can tell if your into it or not.
Now on our last trip there were 5 of us. My sister BIL and my 13 year old nephew DH and myself. Well my sister got put in the corner. My DH got in trouble for leaving his bike outside. My nephew had to go and wash his hands because he didnt such a good job. My DH had to take off is hat and the whole table got in trouble for not setting the table. I was told not to do running off with the Jones boy next door that he was nothing but trouble. ( Indidana Jones is next door for those who dont know) My BIL who is normally quiet made a rude joke and the waitress "Cousin Brenda" was no he didnt say that. He's mom's little angel. So for the rest of th week he was the "Angel"
All in all it was one of our favorite times.

To go there just for the food would be like going to the Adventures Club just to have a drink.

The food is good. But the show is part of it. But if your alone they do tend not to centre you out soo much but Im sure if you told them when you arrived that they would put you somewhere low key.

SaraMc, I agree. I like your analogy to the Adventures Club! The food is good but the "package" is great! JMHO

We went in early Dec. 2004 hoping for a fun server and we waited over an hour (with a PS) for this, and our server was automatically boring and did not joke around with us at all. It was to this day the only truly bad experience I've ever had with Disney dining. I had gone in 2002 and also hoped for a fun person and got a boring person who ignored me. At least in 2002, they brought the food out while it was warm.

So I'm sure you can request a low key person. They seem to have quite a few of them.

I never complain about restaurants at WDW, but this is the one place I will probably never try again.
