I have one DHS day without an ADR...in all my trips, I've never been to either of these! Which do you prefer, and why?
I can see my 8year old loving the car theme, but maybe not the science fiction movies....
I can also see her loving the original mickey mouse club...do all the tables at 50's Prime Time have TV's?

We did Sci-Fi on my kids' first trip when DD was 5, and she loved it! Honestly, she was too enthralled by everthing to pay much attention to the movies. (All the clips are funny and appropriate. . .old commercials and movie trailers.) However, both kids loved 50's Prime Time on our last trip as well. We had a terrific waiter who picked at them lots, and the food was wonderful. You can't go wrong either way!

We enjoy both also, the food as Sci-Fi is limited but we have always enjoyed the simple things they offer and the atmosphere. 50's PT has good food and some times we have a server that plays along with the whole no elbows on the table, set your place setting eat all your food, other times, not, either way we don't care, we still enjoy that atmosphere there too. We actually have ADR's for both this year! Sorry guess that isn't any help for you to decide!:rolleyes1

We're going in Sept. with DDs 8,5,5 and DS 6. Made ADR today for 50s Prime Time. DH and I have been to Sci Fi and I don't think the girls would be too into it and may even be a bit scared. DS would love it, but he's outvoted (again!). I'm hoping for a great waiter at 50s PT!

Good luck making your choice...you really can't go wrong!

In 3 meals at 50s, we've never had a fun server and we have twice had a table without a TV. The food is pretty good though; especially enjoy the unique desserts.

The food is not as good at Sci Fi but the experience is unique and continues to be a favorite with my family.

Our experience is that the food is much better at 50s Prime Time. We enjoy the atmosphere of Sci-Fi, but it doesn't outweigh the bad food. (we've tried it twice) We've had fun waiters about half the time at 50s PTC, but if ours isn't into it, we enjoy the other waiters who are doing it up big. Also, if there isn't a tv right at your table, you can still see it from your table. Never been at a table where I couldn't see at least one tv. My vote would be 50s Prime Time all the way. Good luck!

My DH and I prefer the Sci-Fi Diner. He is shy and hated the attention brought to us by the waiter... even though we didn't have one that was way too much like some people get.

I don't think the Sci-Fi diner is scary. It seems like a lot of fun to me.

It really is a matter of your own kids' personalities as to which place would be most appropriate for them.

We are planning our next trip to Disney, when I ask our kids where they wanted to eat, the only 2 places that were unanimous for everyone was lunch at Sci-Fi (and Tusker House for breakfast). The atmosphere at Sci-fi is amazing and the burgers and onion rings along with a shake are soooo delicious! We normally share and pay oop since the portions are very large.

We have been to 50's 4 times now (we really want to love it), only 1 of the 4 times have we had a fun experience, 1 of our visits was a total nightmare and we ended up walking out and the other 2 was just another place to eat, good food but that was it. Until this year, we have always been a family of 4 but we have never sat at a table with a tv but every table can see a tv from a distance. Please don't get me wrong...we like 50's.....fried chicken, meatloaf, pot roast, the food is good. Just not our favorite (other than the PB&J shake, YUMMY)

Neither 50's or Sci-fi have full length shows/movies. They are snippits and/or trailers.

Whichever you choose, have fun and keep an open mind so the experience is amazing!

I think the food is way better at 50s PT but not all the servers are fun and not every table has a TV. My DD loves Sci-Fi so we go there for lunch without my DH who doesn't care for it. When I asked my 9 year old DD where she wanted to eat this year she asked for 50s PT, Sci-Fi and surprisingly she asked to go back to California Grill. I'm excited to go back to CG because this year we have a later res so we'll be able to watch the fireworks after dinner.

Hands down--50's Prime Time. The food there is really quite good. Like, surprisingly good! It's always such a hoot in there. Your family will have a great time.

LOVE the atmosphere at Sci Fi, but the food is awful. Horrible.
Go there for a shake or something, just to sit in the car and have the experience.

I like both 50s and Sci-fi! I would say that 50s has the fried chicken which is the best! But other than that, the food is about the same (in my opinion). I've found if I have an ADR for 50s well in advance, I get a table with a TV (but you have to be a table of 4). But this last time, we had a last minute reservation with 6 people and you have to sit at a larger table so we had a TV that was 'shared' with the rest of the room. I admit that I prefer having our own table with TV.

Sci-Fi has a 'darker' interior but the theme is very cool as well.

If I were to choose, I'd go to 50s BUT I am choosing this time and going to Sci-Fi because I haven't been in a couple trips ;)
