We will be trying the 50's PTC for the first time this December. I am wondering what the experience is like? I know the servers act like your relatives. Any other fun things?

I am sure there will be plenty of posts here telling you about their great experiences, we had a good time also but....

Just remember any and all gags, interactions, etc. are not and can not be guarenteed.

Now with that out of the way, just keep putting your elbows on the table and you will be fine.

Other things that can elicit fun reactions from the servers: wearing a hat at the table, clipping your light-up Tinkerbell onto said hat (yes, my sister and I, ages 23 and 19, respectively, did in fact get the kids' drinks last time we were there...), having really long nails (bonus points if they're painted dark purple- something else I happened to have last time that intrigued the waitress), accidentally getting gravy on the table, and singing at the table. I did all of these when my sister and I were there in March and got interesting reactions. (Don't even get me started on stuff that's happened on past trips, like the peanut butter shake avalanche or the "Topher the gopher" poem...) In my experience, they have toned down the embarrassing stuff in more recent years; I remember a time when my mom didn't finish her green beans and "Dad" came and did the "here comes the plane" thing, and another time when a waiter announced to the whole restaurant that I licked ketchup off my finger and described what I was wearing so everyone could identify me. (Both of these instances were over 10 years ago, I might add.)

That said, you never can guarantee what your individual server will do, if they respond to anything like that at all. What I don't recommend is behaving inappropriately or purposely bothering other guests or servers just to try to get a reaction from your server.

I've been to 50's 3 times, and each experience was different. First of all, the food is very good; we went with the fried chicken, the pot roast, caesar salad. First time, our server was Uncle Dale and he was great. Really gave us all a "hard time" about hats, elbows on table, cleaning up the plates. Second time, absolutely NO interaction from the server except to say "hi i'm Mom." I was a little leary of making ressies the third time, but it was my sister's family's first visit, and they liked the menu. So our waitress was in between trip 1 and trip 2. Just little innuendos here and there. When we checked in at the desk, I did ask for a table with a LOT of interaction..oh well. Food was good, and we relaxed and had a beer!

I think we'll skip on our next visit..

I have been there a few times and to be honest didnt car for the food. the last tim e we were at a little table near the door, the waitress was no different then being at just a regualr oldfashioned place, no interaction at all, which was no big deal to me but the first time my friend and her husband was there, they didn't like it at all:santa:

We've eaten here several times and have never had any antics other than being told to eat our vegetables and keep our elbows off the table.

I love the smores dessert here.

We just ate there for our first time.

Dh was checking his phone at the table and had to get up and sing 'I'm a little tea pot'

The food was ok....but to me, nothing special
Our waiter was very nice, and very attentive (refills, clearing plates etc) but didn't really play with us..except for that one time (we were a party of 9)

He did interact with the table behind us A LOT. They had 4 teenagers and I guess he just had more 'opportunities' with them.

Will I go back...maybe

We love it there. My mom says the chicken is great and I love the meatloaf. Smores dessert is the best!!! That being said we have had many different levels of interaction and it depends on the server, your party, the people in the room with you and how busy they are. If you and others are not really outgoing and fun then the server is a little more tame.

I have had to do some pretty funny things (ie. sing I'm a little tea pot) and one time my dessert wsa my green beans with whip cream and sprinkle on them. (no desseert if you don't eat your veggies).
