50's Prime Time Cafe

We had a great time there last Sept. The food was awesome and our "cousin" was hilarious. My mom ordered a beer with her dinner and they brought her the bottle but no glass. She muttered, "they never bring a da**ed glass." To which our "cousin" replied, "oooohh, potty mouth princess." :lmao: She and all of us had a fabulous time. Can't go wrong here.

Hey all!

We're considering this TS for our next trip in January. My question is this: do they allow you to substitute the veggies on the the plate for different ones? I'm looking at the fried chicken (I basically LIVE on chicken...can't eat pork, and don't eat a lot of red meat), but the vegetable offering is really kind of turning me off:sick: . I don't think I could willingly eat "greens," let alone be fed them by the server.....I'm pretty sure there would be a "mess" to clean up if you know what I mean.

Until next time,
John

Hi John ! I usually order the fried chicken ( I love it ! ) and I always ask for and receive mashed potatoes (no gravy, not my thing) and corn . . . . While I am up for any and all of the other shenanigans, i just can't see myself eating greens, sorry, so I just do that to protect myself . . . . . ! But this is definitely a place for some good food and great fun, (for your first visit, I would request a "fun" server upon check-in; they will know what you mean . . . ).

My children and I ate here on our last visit in May, 2007 and it was our favorite place. Our server, Topher, was hysterical, and he had a great time "fixing up" my daughter (age 12) with the cute British boy at the next table for the "sock hop". The food was incredibly good. I had the pot roast, which I devoured, earning me the title "Ms. Hoover" from Topher. :goodvibes

I've already made reservations to go back this May! It was one of the first things I did when I booked our package!

Ooooh, sounds like fun, and the stuffed pepper sounds tasty. I may have to bring my mom here without telling her about it...

Would you recommend this place for me (16) and my mum (50-something)?

I get shy but I could probably relax into it, and I would be booking it as a suprise for my Mum (as I have for CP) so she might be a little shocked, and a bit stand off-ish at first but will probably relax into it as well

Also I would be paying (part of the load for booking it without mum knowing) so are the portions a good size etc..

I just think this place sounds really fun! :goodvibes
(and if I don't plan it doesn't get done :lmao: )

we like it here - DH especially loves the pot roast - me, i love the 50s kitchen theming!!

We have never been there but have ADRs in a couple of weeks. From what I can tell, by reviews and pictures, the portions look like they are pretty big and I have not heard one bad story. I think that the cast members, or the waiters/waitresses, tend to play off of the people; that is, they act accordingly to the people. If they notice that you tend to be shy, they probably will keep it low key and not make you stand in the corner! :lmao: I say go for it! I have heard that the food is great and if you like American food, this is probably the best place to go!

Have the servers always chided the guests? The last time I ate there was in 1992 or 1993 and I don't recall anything special about the servers. Maybe we were just boring and they had nothing to work with.

We loved the food here. But my DH kept trying to get "in trouble" for having his elbows on the table but our "aunt" never even noticed. Still plan to go back and will remember the request for a fun server at check in, thanks.

We ate there in January and didn't have a great experience. For example, our entrees came out before our appetizer, we had to ask numerous times for ketchup and ranch dressing, and our server never delivered DD's sundae. It appears that we just hit an off day because I read so many great reviews. We are giving it a try again in Oct. because I think DH and DMIL will really enjoy it. Also, even though service wasn't great, DD really liked it and it was the only place she requested for our trip this fall.

We are trying it for the first time on our trip in December! Glad to hear so many good reviews.:goodvibes

I just ate there last month with my best friend, and I thought it was pretty good, but my friend really hated it. He lives close to all the greatest restaurants though, so he is probably a bit more picky than I am.

We have ADR's for PTC in November, I can't wait to try the fried chicken!

This is one of DH and my favorite places to eat. I love the pot roast and DH (a picky eater) gets the grilled chicken- plain. He also enjoys their chicken noodle soup. I have had the brownie sundae and s'mores and enjoyed both.

KatyTheFairyPrincess Neither of us have ever left there hungry! I'm sure you'll both enjoy it.:goodvibes

Hi All,

We eat at PTC on every trip to the World. My favorite dish is the chicken pot pie, Mmmmm. Like anywhere, some servers are better than others, but we have always been fortunate to get the ones who play into their parts. For the wonderful comfort foods alone, and large portions, I highly recommend adding PTC to your list of "must dine". :thumbsup2

Later kids,

Marcia

Mmmm, I've been craving the chicken pot pie!!

We ate there in May. We ordered the meatloaf, pot roast, pot pie and stuffed pepper and passed them around the table. All were great, but the pot pie was a little pocket of Heaven!! Yum! The kids got the make-your-own sundaes and my grandparents and I got strawberry shakes. They were delish, and each shake had two refills. It was all we could do to finish them!

Ate here when I was in high school and made an ADR for our May trip. I canceled when we booked the Fantasmic package (the dinner was at 4:30, and I thought the meals would be really close together). I was really sad and called the weekend before the trip and the same spot was still available. So glad!! After all the walking and hot weather, we were absolutely hungry enough for our 4:30 Mama Melrose dinner.

We'll definitely be eating there in December. Too much fun!

I went for dinner a couple of years ago with a friend, but didn't tell her a lot about it. I deliberately left a single green bean on my plate. When "Aunt Becky" pretended that bean was an airplane and shoveled it in, my friend laughed so hard she couldn't breathe! On my next trip, it will be me and my 72 year old parents. I told Mom what PTC was like, but Dad will be going in blind! He has a habit of putting his elbows on the table, too.

I made an ADR for PTC. My DD loves meatloaf but it has to be pretty plain. Another dis member told me it was... but can anyone describe it in more detai???

:thumbsup2 Another HUGE fan of the PT 50s Cafe here!!! Last summer, I was on the DDP, so ended up w an ap and dessert each for me and DH, but we easilly could have shared:cutie: And the Kid sundae, well, that pleased my 2y old princess: who was in a rotten mood for 70% of the entire 9 day vaca:scared1: That was 1 meal that me and DH got to enjoy w out taking her royal highness out of the restaurant out for a walk in the middle of dinner 2 or 3 times:laughing:

I thoroughly enjoyed (but couldnt finish the fried cheese, pot roast, and angel food cake
:lovestruc

Here's a pic of our PTC meal (minus the pot roast you can't see). The meatloaf is on the bottom. I wouldn't say it was plain, but it's very homestyle and basic.
