So I bought 150 direct at Riviera, I had second thoughts and tried to add another 50 but I was a day too late.

Now my debate is adding 50 more at Riviera or get a second home resort and do 50 at copper creek?

I don’t think 50 points at copper creek, even if we’re only going every 2yrs would get me the number of days I’d want in a split stay so I would have to wait for the 7 month mark to use some RR points for one night.

Is it worth the pain of a second home resort or just stick with RR and hope some years to be able to stay at CCV part of the week booking at the 7 month mark?

We would mainly be going in April.

Personally I would do the CCV add-on if that’s a place you like to stay (even just as SAP points), you could always end up adding more to that down the road, so 50 now and 50 later is 100 and every other year is 200, etc.

I would do a second resort. BLT/CCV like we beat to death in the other thread are some of the best value with also some beneficial home resort priority. But also this is a good opportunity to consider maybe a small Aulani add on to get into those hotel rooms/standard studios if you’re interested in Hawaii, you could also consider a 2042 like BCV or BWV to get that walking distance to Epcot now that RIV isn’t as much of an option. Maybe if you want to try and snag club/value you could do AKV. The options are endless :p

I’d wait until you can do 100-150 pts at CCV. Or try a few places and see where your favorite spot is, maybe there’s a big incentive on poly tower.

Or when poly tower is on sale, there’s a bigger promotion to add on at riveria

Do you want to stay at CCV?

Here is the one thing to consider…if you buy CCV resale, they won’t be good at RIV, VDH, CFW, and presumably future resorts.

That means, if you are trying to make a split stay work, and you need a few more points for the RIV nights, you can’t use the CCV points.

As someone who owned restricted points at BLT and want to be at RiV as part of a split stay every trip…if not there the whole time, it was very frustrating and we sold only a year later.

IMO, small contracts can be tough unless you know for sure it’s going to work the way you want it…

Now, if you are going to just buy them direct, even though it is more, than I think it could work for you.

So because there would be times I would want to stay at RR the whole time I think I’d have to buy CCV direct…..

But also makes me think I should just do the other 50 points at RR and hope to get a 1br at CCV or any of the monorail resorts at the 7 month mark. I wouldn’t be heart broken if I couldn’t do a split stay but I would like to try.

Good advice, I do think I’m going to wait a while and see what happens, my next big trip wouldn’t be until April 2028 so I have until early 2027 to purchase.

I own VGF and SSR as well, but have 300 at each of those so I have enough to book what I want to supplement my RIV points…which are alll good everywhere.

So, I do see a benefit of just buying more RIV, and trying your luck at 7 months…1 bedrooms are the last to go…outside of December, getting CCV or BRV is doable.

I actually have never stayed there or even visited but I was thinking I’d like to have a MK resort but I don’t need to be on the monorail and my husband likes the boats!

We’re staying at BWV in October so I’d like to take the boat from MK to see it.
Given that small contracts trade at a large premium and that closing costs per point are also expensive I would make sure that you really have to own there.

I agree with others that buying more direct points could be beneficial so you could use the points at RR if you wanted to at 7m.

Yeah I don’t really see myself going in December, February or April with the kids during school vacation and then October with just my husband for food and wine, staying at Riviera for the close proximity to Epcot.

Worse comes to worse if I wanted to do December one random year I’d just book at Riviera.

I know you mention every 2 years, but 50 points with bank and borrow is 150 points for use with enough planning if all you want to do is guarantee CCV every so often, and 150 points goes pretty far in my opinion at a WDW resort.
