$50 Check from Disney Destinations

Did anyone get a mysterious check form DD in the past couple of weeks? No explanation...just a check.

Hey, I'm not complaining but am very curious. We had a trip last February. I looked back at the finances and everything was in order. Plus, would a bookkeeping error result in an even $50? It seems unlikely doesn't it?

I think I would call WDW and find out what it is before I cashed it. Especially with the recent hacking into their email systems. Supposedly, only email addresses were at risk, but I would still call and verify it is legitimate. And if it is...CONGRATULATIONS!!

Yikes. I hadn't thought of that. I did get the email saying that my email address had been hacked.

I got a check today and can't understand why. I haven't booked a Disney vacation through Disney in yrs. I'm a DVC member so I'm calling them to see if I can find anything out. Let me know if you find anything out. Something doesn't seem right to me.

Yes. I did end up calling the special number that was in the "hacking" email that alot of us received. The security person I called seemed quite concerned when I explained the situation and investigated the matter immediately.

This is somewhat unbelievable but here is what she told me. The check was from them and legit! They sent it because we booked BLT with DVC points and didn't get into our room until 4 pm. What??? That's check-in time for DVC.

I didn't argue it since I'm not the type to look a gift horse in the mouth!

That doesn't seem right. DVC never apologizes for not getting you in before the 4 pm check in. I called DVC finance & I was the second call they had gotten. She didn't know what it would be from & even said I hadn't travelled w/ Disney Destinations. They are going to research it & I faxed a copy of the check. I work in risk management & would be concerned that the # you called wasn't Disney. How do you know the email was actually from Disney? I'll update this post once I hear back from DVC

Here are a few things to consider. If our emails were obtained by a hacker there is no way to know the Disney email was from Disney. Unless you speak directly with DVC or Disney Destinations I'd be careful. How did they know you were DVC did you tell them? I might sound a little nutty but I'd hate to see someone cash a check & have their bank account exposed

It really doesn't seem right. I've waited far past 4 and never received so much as an oops. Now I'm suspicious again. We had a split stay last Feb. BLT, POR then OKW. When I saw the check was from Disney Destinations I naturally assumed it was NOT a DVC stay yet the check came in DH's name and I booked POR with my annual pass. He was not even with us for those days.

So when asked where I was booked I said OKW completely forgetting about the 2 nights we stayed at BLT. I never mentioned BLT at all. After she "investigated" she came back to the phone and said the check was not for our OKW stay but from our BLT stay.

If that was not a Disney agent I spoke to we're in bigger trouble than I thought.

Maybe it is legit but I was in my room both trips I took this yr long before 4 pm. I'm going to wait & see what DVC says. As soon as I hear anything I'll let you know.
