50 BWV pts sold for $5000 on ebay!!!

Down from $120 a point earlier in the year. You have ot wonder if those transactions actually go through, though.

What was it P.T. Barnum used to say? Oh yeah, "There's a sucker born every minute!"

I can see how this could happen. Even if you know that DVC has BWV points for $92, perhaps you don't want the 150 minimum so $100 per point is not that much of a premium for a small contract. However, once you add in the $7-8 per point for closing it does seem like too much. I would suggest the better approach is get a 30 point resale anywhere for $70-$80 and then add-on 50 through disney at BWV for $92. You would wind up with 80 points for not much more than the 50 cost you on ebay.

Woah... and 0 points until Aug 2006!

Was the seller paying closing costs, etc?
Edit: Just looked at the auction... buyer was responsible for closing and transfer fees (up to $645). again... WOAH!

I think I would have tried to get like 25 points from OKW or something like that and then add on 50 points thru DVC... to each there own...

Curious though that the winning bidder never made a bid until two hours before the auction ended. I'm always suspcious of this kind of auction. I tend to think that they buyer is the seller or at least very close to the seller--or maybe not, maybe it's all on the up and up, but that was a foolish purchase if you ask me!

The seller would be stupid to bid it up and have to pay commissions on it to ebay. There are people who just bid and don't follow through. And there are those that don't bid until the last minute, even in the last 5-10 minutes or use a sniper service.

Remember, for the auction to have sold at this price, not only one, but TWO people had to have put down bids close to this price. The closing price is not nessesarily the highest price that the winning bidder was willing to pay, but an automatic bump above the previous bidders highest bid. Illegal "bumping" makes no sense unless the top bidder (presumable himself in this case) "backed out" leaving the owner to offer it to the next highest bidder who is not required to purchase the item.

Many people will rarely put a bid down on an item they really want until just before the end so as not to draw attention to it from other bidders.

Also, don't forget there are a lot of people that get more satisfaction from the "thrill of the chase" than the item they are actually bidding on!

This is the reason we rent out our points on e bay there is always people out there willing to pay top dollar for the reservations you make.

Alot of times youhave to question if these deals ever make it to the transaction stage. I guess we could keep looking at that auction to see if positive feedback is eventually left by either the buyer or the seller.
